Terry: Blues better than ever

John Terry hailed Chelsea's 5-0 thumping of Middlesbrough as one of the best team performances he has ever been a part of.

Terry, who made his debut for The Blues a decade ago, returned for his club side after missing England's games against Kazakhstan and Belarus.

The England captain said he regretted missing the game in Minsk but was unfortunate that it fell just a few days early for him.

"Honestly, I was so gutted watching the England game on Wednesday," Terry told The Sun. "Especially being captain - it really hurt me.

"I wanted to stay with the squad, but knew by Monday I wasn't right. When I was watching, my back was still hurting, so I knew it was the right decision.

"It was hard to sit it out, but this was a nice way to come back. We know it is never easy to come to a place like Middlesbrough and over the years they have made it very difficult for us."

Terry feels a large part of the credit for the quality of this performance, which came despite the Premier League players having seven first team members unavailable, should go to Luiz Felipe Scolari.

"It was one of the best displays I have ever seen us put in," Terry added.

"The manager is eager. He wants us to play from the back. One thing he has stressed right from the start is that we must work hard for each other.

"There are going to be games when we don't play well, but if we are fighting, working and moving for each other we have all the chance in the world.

"In the first two years after Jose Mourinho took over we had a strong mentality where we would go to places and shut up shop to get the three points.

"But now we are ready to really push on and get that second goal and kill teams off. That is the difference between then and now."

This is one thing thats impressed me about Chelsea this season. LFS wants us to continue playing football right till the final whistle and not sit back inviting unnecessary pressure onto us. He'll not settle for 1-0 wins.

Yep agree with that, under mourinho we would shut up shop at 2-0 maybe even 1-0.

Scolari wants more out of the players even at 4-0

i hated the games which ended 1:0 during josé-era.

not talking about this horrible draws we got in so much...

dude, scolari settles for nothing less than a 3:0 :D

is it just me, or is it like that :

Chelsea is playing like Spain or Portugal during the EURO ?

well, obviously it is because of scolari and all that jazz,

but Chelsea´s style really changed, didn´t it ?

these combinations, the happiness of playing in the players faces and stuff...
