When these religions came up, they still had science, math, language, etc.

They had language yes, but few could write, few could count. Science was primitive and limited.

My point is, you should not go to another country and not be aware of their laws and procedures. And whatever the consequences are, they better hope that the embassy steps in, or else, they'll be treated like normal citizens.
