Fulham Broadway 17,312
Finally realises what side his bread is buttered on..... mind you, the press will probably say next week -" Drogba Wants Out" from Skyspurts; Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has revealed he wants to finish his career at Stamford Bridge. Drogba previously insisted he had wanted to quit the club ever since he arrived in London but now claims he will stay for life if Chelsea want him. The Ivory Coast international pulls no punches about his desire to leave England in his controversial autobiography. His book was given a UK launch at Stamford Bridge yesterday but Drogba now said was happy to pledge the remainder of his career to the Blues. 'I would love to go on until the end of my contract here which is two years,' said Drogba, 30. 'It's because of the relationship I have created with the players and the staff. And now with Luiz Felipe Scolari coming in, he is talking to the players. I like the way he is dealing with the players, that is important. 'You have to understand that I was saying I wanted to move but Chelsea always showed me respect, saying that they wanted me to stay because I was one of their best players. That gave me confidence. I am really happy here. 'It is the first season I have wanted to stay. I have changed, of course. And I am really happy I have changed. 'Even if I went, I didn't know if I would find what I have here. I am not the kind of person who is scared of a new challenge, that is why I was saying that. But I don't need to move.' Injuries have kept Drogba on the sidelines for much of the campaign under new boss Scolari. The latest setback for the Ivory Coast striker is an injury to his right knee, sustained against FC Cluj in the Champions League. Fortunately for Drogba there was no damage to his ligaments and he is planning on a return in three weeks. 'The injury is feeling good,' said Drogba. 'I am working to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. I have set no targets but it will be maximum of three weeks. I want to be back and fresh. 'The first few hours I was really frustrated. But when I knew the cruciate ligaments were safe and okay and that it was just a big twist of the knee and ankle, I was really happy and the frustration was gone.' Now when he returns to the side, he is hoping to get the chance to partner Nicolas Anelka on a regular basis in attack. 'I would love to do that,' said Drogba. 'I know what Nico can bring to the game. I know what we can do together. Last year every time we had the chance to play together, even if it was 10, 15, or 20 minutes, we did well and scored goals against Arsenal and Liverpool.' When Jose Mourinho was axed last season, Drogba was expected to follow him out of the Bridge. Indeed, in the summer, he was linked with a move to Mourinho's new club, Inter Milan. But when asked if he would ever work with the 'Special One' again, Drogba was more than a little coy given his new-found desire to remain at Chelsea for life. 'I don't know,' he said. 'I had such a great time with him. He is a fantastic man. He is the kind of person you have to meet in your life. You can say 'I met this guy, I worked with him and he is one of the best'.
