the wes 7,212
Carvalho has be brilliant so far this season and i think jt is not 100% fit yet so what do you think lads????????? Edited September 22, 2008 by the wes
riks12 3
Really hard to decide, both are great, but this season Carvalho has been a little better, so I go for Ricky.
misschief 24
Carvalho's been a far better defender than JT for the past couple of seasons.
carefreeluke 27
Riccy wins it for me as i think he is the better defender. But looking both at there strong points it makes them a quality partnership. Riccy is a lot quicker than JT, and is such a clever defender. JT is good in the air and wins most of the headers and he also organises the defence as well. As JT goes up to win the headers Riccy just sits behind him a bit and covers so there strong points can easily be used to the best of there abilities. For best defender i would say Riccy, id say he is overall the better defender but with JT you get his leadership and his physical presence which Carvallho doesn't have. Steve 10,227
riccy has been solid in the last few seasons, only real mistake i can recall is when he got straight red when he went in for the two footed tackle last season. cant take anything away from terry but he has been great also, for example the clearances off the line when everyone thought they where sure goals. EskWeston 696
Not exactly a fair comparison if you ask me. Both are completely different types of centre back with completely different qualities. But they compliment each other so well and make the perfect pairing. Fulham Broadway 17,363
Personally at present would prefer Carvalho and Alex, Terry has been a bit accident prone of late....
BlueLion. 21,491
Personally at present would prefer Carvalho and Alex, Terry has been a bit accident prone of late.... I agree 100%. JT's looked a little off-pace at the start of the season, I just think its a confidence thing and as he gains match fitness over the next couple of games, his performances will improve. Riccy is the 'better' of the two, but its hard to compare because as Esk says, they're different types of centre-halves.

diskoviolente 425
Riccy and JT are the best central-defenders in Europe, i guess... not even R. Fergienand can take up a challenge wiv them... this season Riccy had some very good and fair (!!!) actions, except that free-kick-sit. against city , which he sorted out later i think JT is not fit, but still more brilliant than other cd´s hahaha ah yeah, and you see what happens when Riccy is out...it is frightening how much depends on Riccys presence.... oxfordblues 299
Ricardo Carvalho for me ,but JT would die for the shirt
BlueLion. 21,491
I think for certain Carvalho is the best centre half in English football, possibly in the world. Both have varying qualities, as oxfordblues points out - JT would die for the cause whilst Riccy is just overall possibly the better defender. But at the end of the day, they're both fucking amazing

pablo814 1
Both play off of eachother very well. The areas Terry lacks in Riccy makes up for and vice versa. I like the fact that Alex can come in for either of them and do the job....
Chelsea Lad 0
John Terry - he's passion, pride and leadership overwhelms Carvalho. Plus I can't recall too many things Riccy can do and JT can't. He's goal-line clearence in Moscow against Giggs is just one example.
kbchel 2
the goalline clearance from giggs is from terry!
bombayblue™ 55
Why bother, when you can play them both

Para6iT 2
Honestly its hard to decide. But i think Riccy deserve the vote.
Joe Cool 388
Well tbh, Terry hasn't been the same for the past 2 years and Carvalho's done a great job, so my vote goes for Riccy
