I dont think anyone needs to justify their loyalty to the club or prove to that Cunt how true a fan you are. That nutcase thinks thru his arse. And its been pretty evident so far.

Warnie thats just my opinion. I just think the person who goes the match is more of a fan than the one who is happy watching it on the screen. Listen people struggle i understand that with the money, but When roman pays for your seat and travel at goodison and we cant even sell out that way it pisses me off. Most of the yanks were man utd fans before roman came its not so one sided now WHAT COULD THAT BE ? ? ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ?

Yeah..but like you said..People who dont go to watch matches are Glory Hunters is outright ridiculous. Which means people in US and Asia and Africa who have formed Chelsea Fan Clubs all over US all over the world are all Glory Hunters just cus they cant travel with the team in rain and snow etc etc.

And your thinking pisses me off.

And thats my opinion :)

Forgot to mention, in 1998, I bought 5 CFC Shirt in London, I was so proud of them, you can't immagine how. Yet I want to achieve my dream : Attending a match of my beloved Chelsea and singing 'till I get no voice anymore the Boys in Blue to the victory. blue%20scalf.gif

But the problem is : I suffer of general anxiety, social phobia and also IBS ( but I can sort it out in Brussel before going to London )

Sounds to me like you have far more personal problems to worry about then what a scum in r*d says to ya.

Ignore them and keep working on getting ya'self to the Bridge.

It will happen, just stay positive.

Lol this thread was bound to create controversy with a question like that. Havent you asked this before Hingis ?

I would consider it every fans duty to make it a priority to make the pilgimage and see the team play at least once, where ever they are, like Yougs did from South Africa. Fucking hell if Muslims can make it to Mecca....

ok i'll coment on topic rather than talking about glory hunting in general. you cant be a glory hunter if you supported Chelsea in 1997 lol, the fa cup is just a domestic cup. Theres loads of ways to be a glory hunter, you aint one Hingis. A glory hunter because you supported Chelsea in 1997.... thats kinda funny. You should have your own local Belgian team tho as well because your from there, i know you like Anderlecht so you should follow them with your heart too because they are from where you are.

We all know what glory hunting is, said it so much in different threads i need not explain it again.

  • 10 months later...

I am finishing up work tonight and a friend brought up the glory-hunter subject so I found this thread and wanted to contribute.

I see threads like this pop up a good bit lately across the internet and am always curious to hear what other people have to say.

My own personal opinion is that I have not the slightest clue how someone can just wake up one day and pronounce...."I am going to root for Team A" and yet live thousands of miles away and have NEVER even been to the city where they are located. How do you understand a team without being in their home park with tens of thousands others? How do you understand the heated rivalries without seeing it firsthand?

That is not me saying that those that can't go for whatever reasons now are less fans but I am just speaking of those that have never even been to England and lives thousands of miles away with no intention of ever going to a match.

I am over-seas now and see it firsthand. People see Chelsea on TV and decide they want to root for them so they get some kits and become a fan. More power to you and I welcome all. But, I also see how really disconnected they are from the team when the bad times come.

The term glory hunter has become much more known on the internet the last few years and thus people have come up with all sorts of reasons why they aren't but I think it is obvious who they are and what they really are rooting for....and IMO it isn't Chelsea but the coolness of being attached to a winning, financial team. While the support is great now, come rough times...I suspect we will see a drop-off.

And that isn't me mocking just our fans....if United suffers a bad season ahead, expect to see their fans jump in numbers....and the same goes with the other Big 4 teams. It happens. We all have them.

If you want to see 'glory hunters' have a look around right now. On the estate I live, I have seen people who laughably called themselves Chelsea/Utd/Arsenal fans, now wearing Citeh tops. I find it all a bit incredulous really. Like most of you on here, I have been a lifelong supporter and used to go to all games home and away, I had my heart in my mouth on many many occasions and almost cried when JT missed 'that penalty' The only other team I will admit to looking out for their results is Brighton and Hove Albion, because they are the team in my home town. The reason I don't support BHAFC, is that Chelsea were the first team I ever saw live and I continued to go there on a regular basis with family until I was old enough to go on my own. It has been nearly forty years since I first went to the Bridge and the anticipation of each match is as strong today as it was when I was a nipper.
