Not sure why we (and Conte) stuck with him so long - board signing?

Not seen a worse midfielder since Alan Dickens

If he was a board signing Conte would have ditched him early just like he did with Bats.

Probably right there Tomo -It was clear by December he was struggling but Conte stuck with him for whatever reason. I could not see him developing and he got 30+ games to bed in which in our crazy league is a hell of a chance when you consider the lack of games given to previous players.

A slower paced league like Serie A could really suit Bakayoko and he can really develop well there as the league is more tactical and less physical than the PL, it's easy to say this with hindsight but we really should have signed him on loan with a option to buy considering that he wasn't really a huge name before the 2016-17 season with Monaco, hope he does well and gets his career back on track.

Why ?  the football is slower and you have more time on the ball aswell Baka struggle with pace of the PL where you don't get time on the ball

He couldn't even pass the ball most of the time. Playing in a different league won't fix the basics

I worked with a West Ham geezer who said Dickens was brilliant for them FB. After seeing him play me and the Chelsea boys started calling the West Ham bloke Charles because of his Dickens story.

Bakayoko inspired and ‘very motivated’ to do well at AC Milan

https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2018/8/18/17727300/bakayoko-inspired-and-very-motivated-to-do-well-at-ac-milan

“I learned a lot and worked very hard in the Premier League, but I think I might be more suited to Italian football and am very happy that Milan called me.

“I started in some important games at Chelsea and think I gained experience that will serve me well in the future. It didn’t all go positively(no shit sherlock), but I am very motivated for this new adventure. Milan won so much on an international level and in terms of history. I wouldn’t want to be at any other club.”

I don't know, Milan will have a lot of the ball and will probably discover very quickly how mediocre he is with it. Fair enough they won't play the same sort of style we are going to be playing but again, they will learn that his physical qualities outweigh his technical. I'm a bit intrigued because I generally don't think he offers anything more than Franck Kessie, who was highly rated and has a big talent too.
