terry26 6
DECO'S TOP 20 Posted on: Thu 17 Jul 2008 New signing Deco has been given his favourite squad number 20 after Paulo Ferreira agreed to a swap. Deco sported the number on his back at both Barcelona and for the Portuguese national team and his friend and compatriot, Ferreira, will change his Chelsea number to 19 following the summer signing. 'I was very happy to swap numbers with Deco,' Ferreira says. 'He has an academy back home that uses the number 20 throughout its work, as he's worn that number for a few years. 'I know how much the academy means to him and therefore how important it is for him to wear the number 20, so when he asked me if he could wear it I said of course, no problem.' Deco's numbered shirt can be ordered online or bought from the Megastore at Stamford Bridge. ChelseaFc.com

DavidEU 2,023
Removed Maka from the list. There could be abit of rotation here now, maybe Mikel will take #4 and Bosingwa #12 (His Porto number), or Bosingwa will just take #4.

terry26 6
from the cfc website Kalou will spearhead the Ivory Coast's attack as they search for Olympic glory, but the Chelsea number 22 was close to representing another country only two years ago. article mistake or has salou been give that number ? Elliott 7
I reckon that's a typing error, no reason for him to change number like that, unlike Ferreira.
DavidEU 2,023
Di Santo been given the number 9 shirt. http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1361586,00.html Think its a stupid decision to be honest. Puts to much pressure on the kids shoulders in my opinion. A number like 27 or 36 would have been fine for now. We can today announce this season's Chelsea squad numbers, with Franco Di Santo taking the number 9 shirt. The Argentine forward is one of three new faces in the first team squad, and replaces Steve Sidwell as number 9, following the midfielder's move to Aston Villa last month. Elsewhere, José Bosingwa takes the number 17 jersey, and Scott Sinclair moves to number 16. As previously reported Deco has taken the number 20 from Paulo Ferreira due to his academy using the number, and the defender changes to 19. Those are the only changes from last season, and you can now buy your favourite player's shirt from the online megastore.

EskWeston 696
Di Santo been given the number 9 shirt. Big boost for the lad, shows that he will get plenty of first team action this season i think. Sinclair taking up Robbens old number too.....

EskWeston 696
Dissapointing to see no number in there for Michael Mancienne. Doesn't mean he won't feature this season of course....
Elliott 7
Say we got robinho, what shirt number do you think he'd get? I'd say... 22? Well the only number lower than available is 4 and I don't think you give an attacker that, not that that stopped Mourinho giving Boulahrouz and Sidwell the number 9! So yeah, 22, or 27 onwards (unless he's really brave and takes the 25).
