New signing Deco has been given his favourite squad number 20 after Paulo Ferreira agreed to a swap.

Deco sported the number on his back at both Barcelona and for the Portuguese national team and his friend and compatriot, Ferreira, will change his Chelsea number to 19 following the summer signing.

'I was very happy to swap numbers with Deco,' Ferreira says.

'He has an academy back home that uses the number 20 throughout its work, as he's worn that number for a few years.

'I know how much the academy means to him and therefore how important it is for him to wear the number 20, so when he asked me if he could wear it I said of course, no problem.'

Deco's numbered shirt can be ordered online or bought from the Megastore at Stamford Bridge.

Removed Maka from the list. There could be abit of rotation here now, maybe Mikel will take #4 and Bosingwa #12 (His Porto number), or Bosingwa will just take #4.

ferreira spoke highly of deco even before he joined Chelsea when he was at barca sayin he was de best player hed played with!

Think its a stupid decision to be honest. Puts to much pressure on the kids shoulders in my opinion. A number like 27 or 36 would have been fine for now.

The Argentine forward is one of three new faces in the first team squad, and replaces Steve Sidwell as number 9, following the midfielder's move to Aston Villa last month.

Elsewhere, José Bosingwa takes the number 17 jersey, and Scott Sinclair moves to number 16.
