I watched him against Leipzig today. He plays really deep, right n front of his centrebacks. That's why I don't think its fair to criticize him for lack of assists and goals. Under pressure he can open up the game nice and quickly unlike Matic. My only concern is that he might have trouble in a more physical league.

Defensively he is better, but I am not sure if his passing is as exceptional as Fabregas.

German newspaper Bild say Dahoud has reached an agreement with Dortmund and is likely to join them for around £8.5million (10m euros).

But Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc is quoted as saying: "We are not fundamentally concerned about speculation."

He would be a good addition as BVB's centre midfield could certainly use a quality boost. Yet another youngster but Dortmund don't have the financial power to buy established players, so there's no other way in terms of top potential.

Dortmund really need some clarity and structure at this point though. They've assembled a very big squad but they're still lacking in certain positions, overloaded in others, but mostly lacking in experiences. Dortmund can't go out and buy a player like Verratti, but you can target players in the 25-30 age bracket who might not be top players but are good enough to make a positive impact for Dortmund (and the youngsters surrounding them).

Isak, Dembele, Pulisic, Mor, Guerreiro, Weigl, possibly Dahoud, and players like Merino and Passlack is a great amount of talent but they are developing players who will experience highs and lows and can't be expected to keep Dortmund competitive at all fronts. You can already see it in the current season as they're trailing Bayern by 16 points, producing schizophrenic performances throughout the season. Reus is constantly injured and Aubameyang will most likely leave in the summer so that leaves you with very little star power. If they're not careful they might slip the next few years.

And while I wish Dortmund the best I sure do hope we steal Dembele. Show them the money, Chelsea.

Apart from Bayern, buli is awful these days. Schalke, Bayer, Wolfsburg are far cry of what they were. BMG are somewhat decent here and there but not top either. Then you have Werder almost relegated and Stuttgart in second tier. And these are clubs with good achievments not long ago. Talk about how great structure german clubs have...

Dortmund would have to fall realy low to not catch at least europa every year. They have created good reputation for young players so it wont be hard to get top talent, because they will get play time and develop well. Bayern is not catchable in current form, regardless of who Bvb buys. They simply lose players every year and bayern is not, which is the key difference to stability. 

IMO Dortmund is doing the best they can in current situation, but Tuchel cant motivate team to give 100% every game. And their defence is shambles. They can easily afford better players than Bartra and Castro, but they dont. 

The injuries are destroying them too. Not just Reus, but half of the squad is injured every two weeks.

I love how the big teams in England struggling with the smaller sides these past years is a testament of the PL's 'competitiveness' yet when it comes to Serie A and Bundesliga it's because of decline (of course the Serie A declined after 06 but they've been on strong upward spiral for years). No one say a thing about failings in Europe because English sides are weak in the continental competitions.

Football fans all over the world need to give Bayern more credit for their succes btw. Their achievements in the past seven, eight years are because of a board who have run the club extremely well. Not because of the so-called low level of the Bundesliga. English clubs could only dream of such an intricate operation. They mostly specialise in spending for the sake of spending.

Yeah Bayern deserves praise for their work. If I remember correctly they were not even in CL around 2008. But they also take literaly all the talent from their rivals. Hummels, Lewa, Gotze,...

Lewa joined Bayern for free. Could've gone anywhere and only wanted to join Bayern. Hummels enjoyed plenty of interest and chose Bayern. Gotze deal was a heist. But then again, why blame Bayern for the financial climate they created for themself? Those players joined Bayern because they would earn more money and because the chances of succes were higher.

Powerhouses in England have done the same. Utd bought players like Berbatov, Carrick, Van Persie. City bought Adebayor, Nasri, Sagna. Chelsea bought Cole and Torres.

Yes, Juve is the same. I find it annoying when people say one team league. They've simply done an amazing job in taking the club to the next level. I wish I could witness the same at Chelsea.

I will pay over the odds for him at this point. We can't afford to let him go to Dortmund. I hope we've spoken to his representatives and told them he has a great chance to be a member of our starting XI. The competition for his position isn't great. Dortmund are a great club with the best group of young players in Europe but surely the opportunity to play alongside established world stars and a top manager we can offer should trump what Dortmund can offer him?

We have contacted him, as have Liverpool, Dortmund, and I believe Juve as well (but they are nailed on to sign Tolisso so they may have dropped out). 

I hope Conte was able to sell him hard that he won't be a bench warmer as you mentioned. But one question I have is this, do you think Conte would trust a  Dahoud-Kante pivot in most games? I think we'd be missing some serious aerial ability in midfield as well as some steel. So even If we were to sign him, that would almost guarantee a switch back to a 3-man midfield no?
