BlueLyon 9,359
To begin with, only 2 players on that list deserve the hype. The rest is just FIFA products...I never saw Coutinho, El Sharawy, Martial (really? We going that far?), etc., as top youth talents. So they will never be that big of a flop because the expectation was never really there to begin with!A big flop would be if Gotze, Neymar, James or Hazard never live up to the hype. Maybe Sterling as well, but thats it. Others were never on their ball park of youth talent and expectation...EDIT: on your post you give good examples of flops such as Robinho and Gourcuff. So you honestly think the players you listed had 10% of their expectations?Martial is good what are you talking about? Yeah he was overpaid, but himself as talent is great. Probably best young ALLROUND striker atm. Talk of next Henry is pointless, and kid as of now isnt even regular scorer, but his play is amazing. Ball control, movement, passing. He put in some great displays for United and France. His character is spot on too. In few years I think he will be one of best in world but not under coach like Gaal IMO. Having a style of play isn't a bad thing, more importantly they try to dominate the opponents by having the ball, that's not bad. Van Gaal let young guys play, they gain week in and week out important experience. Yes, Martial has got a heavy price tag, but someone like Lingard makes the cut too. He isn't afraid of dropping one of his own and expensive players, take a look at Memphis. Yes, Rooney is a mystery, but that's just one and the captain. Guys like Alaba or Muller became class, now history is repeating itself.
Spike 12,049
Since El Shaaraawy already is a flop, I'll put my money on Gotze because he is an overhyped chubbo.
