We have much better players and Torres should get his service anyway. But our whole team lacked of MOTIVATION yesterday in a big match, where motivation shouldnt be missing, WELL THAT IS A BIG FUCKING PROBLMEM. Not who we still need, but first we have to fix our own players first.

Radamel Falcao, the Colombia striker whose hat-trick shot down Chelsea in the European Super Cup, may join the London club in January.

Reports in South America last night said a pre-agreement between Falcao's team Atletico Madrid and Chelsea has been struck in a deal expected to be worth at least £48million.

Falcao, 26, has already scored six goals in three matches this season and is seen as one of the world's deadliest strikers.

Last season, only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo found the net more times in La Liga than the Atletico goal machine.

But with crippling financial problems at the club and with Falcao's agent, Jorge Mendes, also in charge of transfers at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea may well get their man when the transfer window reopens on January 1. Roberto Di Matteo's side have made a promising start to the Premier League, winning their first three games.

Yet the European champions were brutally exposed in their first real test of the season in Friday's Super Cup.

And it was Falcao who did the damage, putting in a man-of-the-match performance in the 4-1 win while also becoming the first player to net a Super Cup hat-trick in 35 years.

Chelsea, Barcelona and Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala have long coveted the Colombian, but Roman Abramovich's club look set finally to win the chase.

I've heard his buyout clause is £47.5m. Considering they bought him for £40m that somewhat surprises me. If we sign him... just wow. Doubt it will happen tho. If we signed him with Hulk next season or in Jan it would be the best thing ever as they were together at Porto.

Being a striker is more than just getting the ball and scoring. It also has much to do with movement and being at the right place at the right time. A hunger in the box is also something that defines a really good striker. Torres lacks all of these thing while Falcao looks great on all of these things.

Saying that falcao woudnt score if he was in our team is for me very small minded. Im not saying that he would score. I just think some people here underestimate the impact a striker can have in the game.

My point is that the team was so bad in the AM game that not even Falcao would've scored. Not saying Falcao wouldn't score with us generally, of course he would, he's a top striker.

Off we go.... Torres is clearly pants and Falcao walks on water!!!!

They hit us on the break, he had some half chances and he put them away. Torres was fed nothing, all night..... Not ven Falcao would have scored for us last night. We were poor...

In fact i'd blame our new star signing's more for not stepping up and making an effort, one bit of individual brilliance would of got us on track i reckon. the whole team was pathetic and honestly the last person i'd blame was torres, he looked disgusted when that 2nd goal went in.

I just cant believe how long it has taken people to see that Falcao is the best striker in the world! i have been saying it for ages now! i would loves us to sign him in January to have Falcao up front with Mata and Hazard behind for the title run in and CL Knockout stage would be immense and actually give us a realistic chance in both competitions!

I have always said Falcao is capable of getting those crazy Messi & Ronaldo stats of 50+ goals a season all he needs is more quality around him! A player like him seriously needs to be playing in the CL as well, he would be perfect for us!

also does anyone know if it is true that River Plate offered Aston Villa Falcao for 7 Million Euros in 2009 and Martin O'Neill didn't want him and signed Heskey instead?

He's a great striker, but any world class striker would've done the exact same thing he did to us.

We left him far too much space, infact i think we are very lucky he didn't score more, could've easily of shitted on us. Even a Championship team would've done better, we went in that game like we didn't even have a plan or anything. No one was even trying to take Falcao out of the game, even though he is there most dangerous player.

And shot those Messi and Ronaldo comparrisons away please, that's just stupidity. As Ronaldo and Messi are clearly on another level.

People, we all know Falcao is brilliant, but lets focus on Torres now. He needs our support.

Let Nando proove he is the man for the job. If not, we focus on Radamel next season (I dont mean january, lets not spend 80m for anyone).

Falcao is an excellent signing but to be honest its very hard to score against a bus like defense of AM without any of our players not doing any penetration and just passes around waiting for AM to loose composure which definitely didnt come.

I can't believe people still complain about Torres not getting any service. Are Hazard, Mata, Oscar and Marin not creative enough? It takes two to tango and those four have been without a partner for a long time. There are two aspects to scoring a conventional goal: creating and finishing. The creating is there, but the finishing isn't. It's not enough for the creators to look for the finisher, the finisher has to look for the creator - which sadly Torres seems to fail a lot at. It just so happens that Falcao is a better dancer than Torres but not only that he creates a chance for himself and can finish it.

If that makes sense, my job is done.

Its not easy to create goals when your opponent is in a bus like defense. The only way i see itviscwe didnt put pressure when AM have possesion. Nobody wants to win the ball, just jogging around watching the ball not the players movement.

They weren't creative at all in the Supercup...

We should stop trying to find excuses for Torres everytime he doesn't score. We are the champions of Europe, we need a man who can constantly score, he doesn't seem to be able to do that, so he's a problem for us. I mean, I like Fernando, but I'm kind of out of patience. I'm tired of us almost throwing parties when he scores and always finding excuses when he doesn't. This is not normal.

Therefore, maybe we should try someone else.

Falcao is clearly a goal scoring machine. How come he never complains about poor service, bad luck, etc? It would be absolutely amazing to have him in January.

I am sick of the 'service' argument. We don't need a goal poacher, we need someone who can create all by himself to replace Drogba. Falcao appears to fit that bill.

If Torres needs the ball to be served up on the platter a dozen times a match to put away a goal, then he would be better served going to a club like Atletico or Liverpool, where current circumstances dictate that its worthwhile to set up a team to do nothing other than bring out the best in a player.
