Average.

Benzema is not the type of stiker that will carry us to the PL but he would be absolutely perfect as a second choice to Diego Costa. He would definitely give Costa a run for his place in the starting 11. He could efficiently replace Costa in the event of an injury. With the right price, he would be a perfect second striker for us. The only problem is that Real Madrid will also see him as a perfect backup for Falcao...

Was he really THE BEST? Or one of the best?

Imo the best, especially during that 2007-09 period. Scored goals for fun and pace was frightening, also shined on the big occasion for Spain. Maybe at the time Ibra, David Villa, Rooney/Tevez, Drogba...etc were around but at that 08-09 period he was the best of them all imo.

Chelsea interest has established in #ASRoma’s Mattia Destro and, more intruigingly, the #ASMonaco striker Radamel Falcao. (Guardian)

#ASMonaco's Radamel Falcao is available and well liked by Mourinho, who is also an admirer of #FCPorto's Jackson Martinez (Telegraph)

Mourinho shares the same agent as Falcao and Abramovich is a friend of Monaco's owner. If we were actually interested the only thing stopping us getting him would be Real Madrid.

20m£ for loaning a player?! ha no thanks.

£20m includes the loan fee and wages. Reports say that there would also be an option to buy him after the loan for £40m. Not bad.

£40m though? I'll take a Falcao loan definitely (feel like he needs to prove himself after that injury) but I don't think I'd spend £40m on him. £20m loan fee is bloody excessive as well.

The figures are definitely excessive but if he flops (unlikely imo) at least it's only £20m and not Torres-like money. If we were to end up buying him for £40m it'd be because we know he scores for us. That much money for a 29-year-old is a lot but the market is heavily inflated and I don't think there's a better pure number 9.
