Exactly, the reason we never claw back deficits is because of this.

People go on bout Fergie time but why is that? Because when their losing he sticks 3 sometimes 4 forwards on the pitch which instinctively makes the opponents shit themself.

another point to add to that. fergie stations young/evra on the left and valencia/rafael on the right. all 4 (rafael - borderline) are brilliant crossers of the ball. united create late pressure by spreading the play wide and putting it into the box where one of the strikers stick it away.

even we resort to long balls and set-piece pressure late on in a desperate attempt to put the ball in but we have next to nothing in terms of aerial power or presence upfront.

Bilbao last year would get destroyed by Utd this year, no question about it... To many goal scoring options to have to deal with. My opinion.

Regardless you look at every top side they have a formidable striker, who is ours?

There is a question about it. United are struggling against shity teams in PL this season, they would struggle against Bilbao of last season who can easily hart their weaknesses. You dont have any proof they would destory them because United arent good against this kind of football, i have proofs.

I never said we have a good striker, what do you want....

Those types don't get sold. That's why we this is a rare opportunity.

Van P went for half as much as Falcao but he's 2.5 yrs older. Ibra is in his 30's that's the difference right there.

Cavani was sold to Napoli for around 15m pounds. Falcao was sold to Atletico for 40m euros. Aguero was sold to Man city for 35m pounds.

This is how it normally is. All the top teams bought their strikers from somewhere, but the fees are always around 35m or lower.

Not many... But the better question is how many formidable strikers would we get for much less than 50 mil and the answer is exactly the same... Not many.

Depends on what you call formidable, it doesn't have to be a massive name, but they're many players out there with a reputation of scoring loads of goals, and will probably do the same in the PL. And won't cost 50m.

Demba ba is great but i wouldn't call him formidable.. Any proven player we buy will cost us more than they are worth because we are chelsea. Which is the annoying fact of the matter. Cavani will cost a lot more, aguero would cost us a lot more. etc. It doesn't have to be a massive name, but we are always forced to pay more.

Aguero would have cost us exactly what Man city paid. I believe he had a release clause also.

And you're right people ask for more from Chelsea, but it's not like all of a sudden a 10m player would become 30m.

Cavani for example can be bought for 35m, but it depends on whether he wants to leave Napoli.

Oh boy... Was Cavani world class before he went to Napoli? Falcao went for about as much as he was worth after two great seasons at Porto, has he done anything to diminish his value in La Liga? See Falcao for Aguero. A players value is dependent on their history and form...

Its really quite simple we're meeting Falcao's buyout so we can get him now. If we wait till the summer there will be a bidding war for his services between City, PSG, Real... If we miss out on CL there is every reason to believe he will go somewhere else.

We've been linked with Cavani before he went to Napoli. He's made huge strides at Napoli. How can there be a bidding war on Falcao when he has a buy out clause...

Yeah but now you are talking about chelsea gambling on a player who we believe will be good. Which is something we very rarely do. Michu cost just 2 mil, hernandex was very cheap as well etc the list goes on and you never see us going in for the young unproven player on a gamble so we go for proven youngsters who have already been bought for cheap and proven themselves meaning their original 10 mil transfer has just rocketed up. Michu would probably cost 15 mil now, 7.5 times what they paid for him.

Here's my 2 cents for what its worth. Falcao is one of the top strikers in world football and we NEED a top striker. There's every chance he could fail but there's every chance any player could fail so what odds. Yes he's pricey but that's the joys of buying top quality players. If we buy him its because we can afford him, I never can wrap my head around people complaining about our funds and how much we can't afford to spend, its been said by some of the more level headed people on here already, there are very educated people at the top of their fields whos job it is to make sure we stay within the ffp financial restraints so let's not get bogged down with this anymore. I think he'd be a superb signing and I really hope we get him.

Easy the wages he's on performance incentives. Similar to Hazard.

If it comes down to that we won't get him, particularly if we miss out on top 4
