Radamel Falcao

Balague is the furthest thing from reliable.

Also if we're to buy a cheaper striker now and go big in the summer for Falcao what's the difference? Whether we go big now or later the difference is we could be less attractive in the summer. It can only get more expensive in the summer...

I didn't even say we should add Falcao in the summer because i'm starting to think he won't end up here. It always happens with Chelsea, with the exception of Hazard.

Anyway according to the media, it is the summer that is most likely for him to leave, after helping Atleti get a CL place - so it makes more sense to wait for then, no?

^^^ I kinda agree with Henrique, you need a balance In a team, young but some experienced heads and proven winners, Falcao and some big name prime age players can do this...

I don't think our team lack balls, just sometimes we are a bit too pussyfied!

Torres spending 89 of the 90 rolling on the floor doesn't help, we need a 'hard man' up front, who can bully defenders and take the physical shit... ;)

Didier drogba... He is proven in the prem and has BALLS. :)

His own age doesn't matter one bit. It's a well known fact that you only win trophies with a squad full of teenagers in Football Manager, not in real life. It's great that we have all these young stars in our team and I can only imagine how good they'll be within five years but to balance things out we need players who are at their peak and have more experience, for example Falcao. People who say Falcao is too old at the age of 26/27 have played way too much FM and Fifa. For example, does anyone consider Manchester United to have done bad business in buying Robin Van Persie who is 29 years old?

Henrique was not trying to bash Hazard, Oscar etc. but he only meant that in addition to those we need experienced players with leadership skills.

I agree!!!

But, didn't we all also agree about the fact this was going to be a transition year? No? Did I miss something that said we were to be super champions again the next year? Everyone seemed to know we would have a transition year this summer (see the posts - even of the forementioned persons) and there was general consensus that this is hard. I agree we need experienced players to win things, but -policy like - we are choosing the route of youngsters: Hazard, Oscar, KDB, .... the whole academy! Finally cause we sucked on that ( see the comments on our results academy-wise!

Leadership is showing the managerial courage to make this decision and NOT go in with the short term 'Henrique strategy'. I understand Henrique - he seems to want to win stuff, and we al do. But I fear this strategy will never give us a long term strategy. His strategy could be a good one, but it is not a Chelsea one if you ask Roman. Also, a lot of people know we need to change demographics in our team. I hate seeing Lamps trashed by some on the forum like this. I want a team where Legends do get to grow old and where future stars DO get a real chance to flourish!! This is what makes ke proud, not just a cup trophy. I know this is my view, not the view of others.

Also, some who thinks only the 28-31 year old real performers are 'Chelsea Material' have no soul for me. No Offense, this is my view ..... :clown:

This transfer is different to others in many ways, as no matter what a spainish journalist thinks atletico will want to do or won't do, if roman pays the buy out fee then its up to chelsea and falcao to decide what happens.

Exactly, I can't see any team is able to get him for less than his buy-out fee.

Based on this assumption, why people wants us to wait until summer? Buy him now.

BTW, has there really a legitimate buy-out clause in his current contract? And what's the number?

48 million pounds, and 60 million euros i think.

I really don't understand why people prefers postponing this purchase to summer? If we are serious and determined to get him, get him NOW! Why the wait?

Am I missing something here?

People dont want to wait until summer, they dont want it to happen at all.

They either think Falcao is not worth or he is not what we need or that Roman does not have the money. Also, there are some who are fearful of another big transfer.

I personally disagree with all of the above, but I respect their opinion (I just hope they are all wrong).

Not to the third party group that own Falcao's rights. When Atleti sold Aguero to City the money went straight to the tax man. The money they used to prize Falcao was from a third party group they are clearly the people trying to drive this thing through before the summer. His value will never be higher than it is now.

Its not a certainty but with Sturridge going out I would really doubt we would just use the money from that transaction to get another back up striker. It makes more sense we go big now and grab Falcao! If you were told at the beginning of the year you could trade Falcao for Sturridge and £36M would you do it? I certainly would.

Get Falcao to push Torres recall Lukaku for next year. Done.

Not just another striker, but also a midfielder since we will be without Mikel, and have Romeu injured.

Anyway if we do sign Falcao, we will be the only team with 2 strikers that cost 98m? lol other clubs build good teams with less than that.

I really think Luiz can play in the midfield. I really do! We can also recall Essien...

Mate... We can't let the bust that is Torres keep us from meeting our club ambitions. He was a massive waste of money but in order to get back to elite status we need to take it and move on.

If we could get Falcao for Sturridge and 36M you wouldn't do it? given what you know about the situation we're in now? wow.

Essien is done, i don't see a future for him here, and even if he returns, he's not good enough imo.

Luiz can play in midfield i'll give you that, but i would still like to have another midfielder added on the cheap.

And as for situation we're in - all i know is we have a team that can create chances but a striker that loves missing, we don't need 48m to fix this :D

Part of the reason I want Falcao is for his celebrations.

Torres's little 'celebration' when he scores is a little look down to the ground, sticking his index fingers out, shaking them, and what looks like muttering something to himself. Not exactly going to pump the crowd up that, is it?

Falcao on the other-hand looks like he's about to go all "SPARTAAAAAA!!!!" etc. Falcao could pump up a crowd of 90 year old women if he wanted.

You're avoiding the question. Is Sturridge (perhaps with performance add ons) and £36M a decent price to pay for the World's best striker?

Keep in mind we're looking for players for 2 positions. We have Oscar, Ramires, Lamps, Essien, Luiz and Mikel(he misses 4 games for ACON) competing for two positions, its not THAT bad when you throw Luiz in the midfield.

I find it ironic that you're defending the Torres purchase and battering a Falcao bid... Hahaha anyways.

So a year and a half before purchase isn't enough of a sample size for you? August 2009 till January 2011? Isn't this supposed to have some pertinent meaning as to what form he was in the leading up to the purchase? We all know that once upon a time he was a great striker but given the poor form and the injury it made little sense. How far back do you want to go? And at what point is it relevant to his form before purchase by Chelsea? in 2008-09 Michael Owen scored 14 goals in 29 games, a pretty decent return should we be looking at that with reference to buying a striker? The key word is BEFORE he joined us recent history of a year and a half is enough for me and the fact the trend continued nearly two years into his time here is also evidence.

You really think that Chelsea didn't show up for the Super Cup? given what you've seen this year you still believe that? I don't but at any rate I'll concede that his hat trick against us in a cup final is miniscule to Torres' two against us... What about the other 52 goals he's scored? LOL. Even if you give Torres his wack community Shield goal his record pales in comparison to Falcao. And I'm sorry two goals against Genk in the Champions league vs. two goals in the finals of the Europa league doesn't even come close, if you think it does we should end the convo now.

And no its not the same as any big name striker simply because you're ignoring the volume of goals scored. Falcao scores bushels of goals against big clubs, in big games and also small clubs, to put it frank, he just scores! And what is the 'etc.' of big teams Torres scored against? Stoke city, Portsmouth? give it a rest bro! there is no comparison to Falcao when we're talking about Torres. None.

Maybe I'm so adamantly against Torres because I was indeed one person who NEVER wanted him at the time of purchase! NOT ONE SECOND! whether you choose to believe me or not is your prerogative but its the god's honest truth! I watched him during the World cup and he looked so slow, his movement was non-existent and it carried over into the start of the season with Liverpool and never really got better. I hear what you say about FFP and if it fails we're in a massive hole, but what if it works? What if Falcao just continues to be in form Falcao? The amount of goals don't really matter to me its the weight! For instance Didier didn't do a whole lot of scoring last year but the ones he did get you could say counted like three. That is why I want Falcao the guy is a match winner not a pile on goalscorer like Torres is. If you can find a better, more in form striker that is available for cheaper I will back it 100% but don't say we don't need Falcao and through out the names Holt, Ba and Villa in his place! That's ridiculous...

You completely missed what I wrote. I am not defending Torres. He has been horrible for us, a complete bust. I am defending reality. At the time Torres was considered a top striker and you're pretending that he wasn't.

The point is not that 1.5 years is not "enough" for me, that point is that the 1.5 year period is specifically only chosen because it makes the author look correct. If you want to say "how did Torres do against big clubs at Liverpool", you look at how Torres did against big clubs (which was actually pretty well) not just for 1.5 years. Everyone thought Torres looked slower in the World Cup because he was coming off surgery. It was like thinking Drogba looked slower because he had malaria. Well, yeah. It takes time to get better and he did get better. In his last 15 Premier League games with Liverpool, he scored 8 goals. The normal reaction to that was "hey, he's finally getting his legs back".

And yes, scoring against Stoke is not the easiest thing. It's another thing the article misses. At any given time, there are a handful (maybe 5) teams in the Premier League who are pushovers. Teams like Liverpool, Swansea, Fulham, and Newcastle are mid-table and below but still have a lot of quality and internationals. No other league in the world has anything close to that. And wanting Demba Ba or Holt or whoever is not ridiculous. It's called value. Demba Ba has a 7M pound release clause. He has scored 34 goals in 63 Premier League games. For what it would take to get Falcao, Chelsea could get something like Ba (7), Moutinho (28.5), and Coentrao (12M) or any other number of combinations that would improve our club much more than just one striker.

  i said it before, his celebration is awesome. I like players who show so much passion when they score. Like this guy:
