Palmer wins Under-21 award

Kasey Palmer has been rewarded for his performances for our Under-21s in April with the Barclays U21 Player of the Month award.

The prize is given to best player in the U21 Premier League, with Palmer starting all three of our fixtures in that competition during April, including helping us finish the month on a high with a 3-1 win at Middlesbrough.

The highlight of Palmer's month came on our trip to face Manchester United in our first match of April, when he scored an excellent free-kick at Old Trafford to record his 14th goal of the season and earn us a 1-1 draw.

On receiving the award at Cobham, Palmer said: 'It's obviously a big thing for me, for my family and for the team as well. I'm the first person at Chelsea Under-21s to win the Player of the Month so obviously I'm delighted with that.

'The goal at Old Trafford tops it off really. The team's doing well, we're starting to pick it up now towards the end of the season, that's what we needed, and I'm obviously delighted to win this award.'

Chelsea young talent Kasey Palmer has today completed a season-long loan move to Huddersfield Town.The 19-year-old is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea's first team but has twice been named on the substitutes' bench. “I believe Kasey is one of the best young English talents and I think our supporters will enjoy watching him in the new Sky Bet Championship season.  “He is a very skilful player with good football intelligence and we now have the time to work hard with him in training to help him understand our identity on the pitch.   “As I said about Danny Ward recently, I believe we can help Kasey make the next step in his career and send him back to Chelsea a better player once the season is over. I would like to thank everyone at Chelsea for allowing Kasey to come to us.”                                                      Kasey Palmer mainly plays as a ‘number 10’, but has also been used in the wide attacking areas too.Palmer was part of the England Under-21 side which won the Toulon Tournament in May.

Very good loan move for him and I hope he tears the league apart. He was excellent for our U21/U19 team last season. Got around 16 goals IIRC which is excellent. Now is the real step up. Men's football and the Championship. Their manager is right. He really is one of the most exciting young English talents around. People just don't know it yet. Kind of a late bloomer but he has tons of potential and I think he will do bits at Huddersfield.

Like I keep saying, can someone with sense just move this to the player's thread please. He is a pro footballer and when he is taking the Championship by storm next season me (and other people) will be looking to comment on his performances in the player thread. That is where people expect to find it.

I'd love to know what thoughts Antonio has about Kasey. I'd love to see him on tour with the first team this summer.
