Qatar 2022, premier league break and weirdest season ever

I have been thinking as qatar is 90% gonna happen in winter 2022, what do you think about it?

Premier league is going to be paused for the first time (?) in history, the schedule is going to be ridiculous with season split in two parts and the form completely gone when players return from WC into key part of season.

Do you think it will be positive for english football with players in same boat as other leagues or negative? I think fatigue hits english teams quite harder than other clubs in CL final rounds particulary.

But on another level, what kind of idiot would accept world cup in fucking qatar in middle of winter ffs?!? I believe it all went down to money and more money. And this is ruining football as it is. I realy enjoy watching WCs or Euros in summer.

No, please. It might be entertaining for all the football fans around the world, but my sympathy for all the players involved. The club that much of their players not called up will have a huge advantage. It is not a fair competition anymore by the season resumed.

They will suffered what Oscar suffered all this time.

Boycotting helps no one. FIFA isn't going to take s*** from any FA. You forgot how powerful FIFA is.

Lol, what are they gonna do to the FA if they say no? Tell UEFA to deny English teams European cup competitions?

I'd admit it, it'd be good to see them do it. Plus the humiliation when Premier League fixtures get more viewing time than internationals.

This is just the most obvious case of FIFA corruption. If you think any of the previous world cup contenders won or even ran without bribes and misuse of power, especially in the past 20 years or so, you're kidding yourselves. FIFA is a corrupt cartoonishly evil organisation as are most football governing bodies.

The issue of worker 'slavery' is not limited to the world cup in Qatar, it isn't even limited to Qatar. It is unfortunately an issue in a lot of gulf countries and many countries in the region. It's something we even have issues with here in Lebanon (at a much smaller scale) and a lot of activism recently has gone in that direction and we seem to be coming to a solution for it soon (hopefully).

But don't fool yourselves, the media care very little about FIFA officials known to be corrupt taking bribes or about the working conditions in Qatar and the workers dying. They are just upset because a middle eastern Arabian country hosting one of the biggest sporting events in the world goes against the 'us vs them' narrative. A lot of people speaking up genuinely care, but the media don't. Certainly not the British media that are so obviously butthurt about Qatar and Russia beating them and the US.

Well said buddy, you are 100% correct. Majority of people in media and on social media seem butthurt more than anything. This is a WORLD cup, something that should be hosted by everyone, not an event to be only hosted by the football elitsts. You know what's funny? Before Brazil 2014 world cup, in 2013 there were mass rioting and protests in Brazil, somehow the media tried saying Brazil should be stripped of hosting the world Cup because of the violence caused by people. But wasn't there mass rioting in London in 2011, a year before the summer Olympics were hosted?? The hypocrisy of media...
