Callum Wilson

Thought I'd start up a thread surrounding this fella. Apparently he's an integral part of Bournemouth's success in the Championship, and we're looking to spend £15 million for him, supposedly.

Nothing more than a bench warmer in my opinion, but it's nice to see we're finally trying to sign English players.

Not gonna happen - we have Bamford.

I like how people on this forum always act as if Bamford was the second coming of Christ. Whenever we are linked with an English striker (Kane, that Qpr guy, Danny ings) someone brings Bamford around the corner.

AS for Callum Wilson. I have only seen him play once. He is fast and very composed, a natural striker. But not exceptionally skilful. For 15m I'd say pass. Never gonan happen anyway.

Biggest pile of rubbish you can read. He is a good young striker but there is no truth in it. Especially for over £10m. He would ruin his career coming here tbh anyway. What a ridiculous rumour.

No, it's basic logic.

Why on earth would we buy a player of equal skill as one we already have? It doesn't make sense, not when we have one starting spot for a striker. Harry Kane is on fire right now, but he hasn't shown consistency. Up until late November nobody knew who he was aside from Spurs fans who thought he was some washed up goalkeeper that Arsenal didn't want. Danny Ings, yeah, he's a good player, but he's not worth the £30m we would have to spend to get him. That's an Alexis Sanchez, a Diego Costa.

I'm sure Wilson is a good player, but he's not a player we should be looking at. EVEN IF Remy leaves, and Drogba retires, we could easily field a nearly completely internal striking lineup of: Diego, Bamford, Solanke.

Solanke isn't even ready for first team football and Bamford may not even make it at Chelsea

With the striker options you mentioned, we'd be lucky to challenge for top 4 next season

I didn't say that's what we'd actually do, though. Of course, that wouldn't be a smart thing to do. Bamford will be fine.

Having said that, what would you do, then?

I just think we need an experienced 2nd striker in our squad...maybe someone like Luiz Adriano (Shakhtar) who is available on a free at the end of the season

My only issue with Bamford is that he needs regular playing time...being 2nd/3rd choice at Chelsea won't really help his development

Personally I think Remy will stay anyway, maybe Drogba might get 1 more year...but if we sell him it might be a good idea. Is he good? We do have to be careful with Bamford, though. If we get more strikers we do risk demoralising him and that will be the end of it.
