This reminds me of the Australian republic referendum a decade ago. it failed but I do see Australia becoming a republic in my lifetime. Australia is separated by a great distance with no real benefits from staying with the Commonwealth. We as a country will become stronger and wealthier by aligning us closer to our Asian neighbours.

But the UK and Scotland is a whole different ball game and I don't have the knowledge to have an opinion. Whatever the result it will make a great topic for a documentary. IF it does become an interdependent Scotland than maybe it be closer to the AUS & NZ alliance. NZ doesn't have a real army and we act as a bigger brother yet they have they own constitution & currency plus we can live in either country without a visa.

Because that's what the 'Yes' campaign pushed for.

What's a bigger joke is that only current residents of Scotland can vote.

Any Scottish person living in England, Wales or NI cannot - that's just ridiculous - this is severely limiting the 'rational' thought processes.

The term 'Freedom' is also being bandied about - what exactly is Scotland not free to do, that other parts of the UK are?

- free healthcare - check

- free schooling - check

- free movement - check

- religious freedom - check

The list is endless ..

It's more of an argument of proportional representation that has been blown out of all context and is now being promoted as 'freedom' under a nationalist movement - claiming oppression.

I seriously believe Scots that vote yes and achieve independence will all expect to be millionaires the next morning.

Very little will change for the average Scots person initially - the real gamble is for the generation after this, that's where the issues will become more prevalent.

The more I debate it in my own mind the angrier I become about the farcical way that 'solid facts' are missing from both the Yes and No camp

As I said many times - a real shame it has come to this... But within weeks we will see :)

We can't vote during the elections from here either.

There was an interesting debate about this on the BBC World Service yesterday and there was a debate that if Scotland were to vote YES then which currency would they use. The issue was that if they stick with the pound then the interest rates set by the Bank of England may not be tailored for the Scottish economy (which really shouldn't be an issue since they've been using the pound for ages).

And if they were to pick the Euro then they'd still not be able to influence the interest rates much either since major EU Countries will have more influence in deciding what it is.

Oh dear. The entire Westminster establishment is simply a bad joke north of Carlisle, and every time they open their mouths the Yes campaign puts on another point. Cameron, Miliband and Darling are a godsend for Scottish independence.

The most far-reaching settlement would be for an independent Scotland to sever its links to the BBC entirely, and set up a new state broadcasting network. That would mean BBC audiences would have to subscribe to Sky or cable services which included BBC channels in their packages. Scotland would raise its own licence fee, and operate its own spectrum, transmitters and broadcasting authority. The SNP think they can come to some arrangement similar to Eire though.

So Scottish athletes won't be able to compete at Olympics, they are going to set up guarded borders between England and Scotland and we CANT have the pound.

Yes people are crazy they are going to destroy Scotland and a wonderful 300 year union :(

I think the Union might want Murray on their side.

Owen Jones- ‘I have never had an interest in defending the union’

TRANSLATION:-

‘I have always had an interest in re-positioning my principles for personal political and financial gain’

Scotland just might save us from being dragged into the war that US-EU-NATO is planning against Russia- ‘Horse kicks apple cart’?

Cameron, Clegg, Milliband, Prescott, all gone to Scotland today in last ditch attempt for a No vote.

Many working class in Scotland have a once in a lifetime opportunity to get rid of the tories for ever, and see that as attractive. They are sick of, as are a lot in England and Wales, minimum wage zero hours jobs, and foodbanks in one of the richest countries in the World. They see Socialist Salmond as a saviour.

Polls neck and neck at the moment, couldnt be closer

Cameron, Clegg & Milliband are all fighting for their own jobs and acting in their own best interests.

I don't think they give two hoots about Scotland or GB unless it is going to personally affect them in some shape or form.

Oh and by the way I think the Tories are doing a grand job of helping Salmond achieve his majority YES vote. Scotland has never truly forgiven Thatcher, Heseltine & Co.

Hoping for a No vote but most of the signs about the place are yes posters. I think the better together campaign are getting the undecided voters on there side. How anyone can say we will be better as a independant country I will never know. There is no plan for currancy, loads of job cuts, what will happen with the NHS ? I just think its a massive gamble not worth taking. Also some of the actions of YES voters have been disgusting am not saying the NO campaign is perfect but YES are by far the worst. People are been warned at work the now of pay cuts and pay offs this is including NHS workers. So let's hope for a NO vote or the country will be a awful place to live. Here's a video showing some actions not sure if it will upload using an iPad ?
