Crisis ? What Crisis ?

Recommended Posts

On the face of it the worst case scenario Chelsea will finish second in the Premiership, and end up beaten CL semi finalists. A pinnacle most fans of other clubs can only dream about.

Scratch beneath the surface though and it's a shambles. No1 disaster; the disposal of Mourinho like a used tissue, and the the appointment of a very bad actor. Mourinhos arrogance, and he was by the way, rubbed off on theplayers, and fans alike, -it instilled a belief that you cant replicate or ape with a fat shyster trying to dress the same, waving his arms about.

Secondly who's in charge of the fucking transfer policy ? OK we've always bought the odd mutton dressed as lamb, but Arnesen is conspicuous by his absence as he hides away counting his millions. Malouda, Sidwell, Del Horno, Ben Haim, Boulahrouz, Pizarro the list goes on and on.

Abramovich - I get the impression, and I may be wrong that since his divorce he's not been giving the club his full attention. OK other owners dont, but what we have is the Greenbergs, Bucks, Kenyons etc all vying for their personal power and fortune, and as a consequence it's a fucking mess. A lack of cohesion and team ethics in the boardroom has led to it being replicated on the pitch. To me it's a tragedy that the potential is there to have cleaned up in three tournaments this year and it's been squandered. Terry isn't half the captain that he was under Mourinho, and all the players seem to be possessed with their individual aims rather than a strong team bond. This is evident in goal celebrations not being as enthusiastic, and with Lampard and Drogba eyeing the Italian and Spanish horizons.

I hope fans that say Grant was just a stop gap appointment are right and we can start afresh with a new manager sooner rather than later

Oh right -never quite sure what hes up to. Wel, l whoever is in charge of transfer policy it needs to be sorted out. Maybe Abramovich has had a hand in Sheva, -and Sidwell, Pizarro and Ben Haim were possibly a result of Abramovich tightening the purse strings. Whatever or who ever is responsible , a team with such resources should not be buying as many pigs that have arrived since Abramovich

I think your spot on. bottom line is if the russian is accepting this debacle then he has indeed taken his eye well and truly off the ball. Kenyon and Buck know they are onto some easy money just now and aint about to jeopardise that income by giving an opinion they know that the russian wont want to hear.

The whole thing stinks from Top to bottom. Sure its acceptable for the majority of club's to be satisfied by finishing second in the league and the semi's of the CL.......But given the wedge the russian has spent our aspirations are somewhat higher.

It could all have been so very different if someone had shown the bottle to disagree with the russian when he thought it would be ever so clever to sack Mourinho, and replace him with his very own bum boy

I'm right with you and FB on this one. I remember all too well winning the Coca-Cola cup and really thinking we'd hit the big time - talk about ecstatic. But whilst plenty have tried to play the "you're 2nd in the table and in the CL semi again, there's loads of clubs who'd die for that" card, I think we have every right to have higher expectations than that. We're not the same club we were then either mentally or financially and our trophy cabinet should reflect that. Having said that, its not all about the silverware for me, its more about the football and right now, ours isnt fit to compete with the likes of Arsenal nevermind Utd.

Grant will go in the summer, I hope. I can only think his appointment was until the end of the season to add some stability to a sinking ship. Finishing second is a good starting point for next season - and a new manager. It guarantees European football and therefore we have the chance of luring in a big name

Jose no matter how good a manager he is, He was always SHIT at buying players. The amount of money he has wasted on players in last 3 years is startling, no wonder Roman had to think twice before giving him money to buy last season.

On the other hand, Ranieri was Superb at buying players. Unfotunately he had to leave.

Jose was always after Ben Haim right from the january transfer( i dont beleive it was forced on him becus he was free)

Pizzaro..I dont know who decided to buy him.

Sidwell..Jose clearly mentioned he liked the young bloke.

Malouda...If im not wrong, Drogba persuaded Jose.

SWP....24 fucking million for this waste.

Sheva....30 million...for another waste WORST TRANSFER IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE!!!...I DONT BLAME JOSE FOR THAT..ROMAN is to be blamed.

Drogba 20 odd million. Fucking waste for the first 2 seasons for the amount of money we paid. Roman would be soo glad it finally paid off after 2 seasons.

the rest, tiago, kezman, boulahrouz, etc etc...its

No wonder Roman, was frugal in giving Jose the money to spend, cus of his BAD BUYS!!!

Take Raieri buys:

Joe Cole, Lampard, Makalele, Cech(Fucking Steal), Bridge, Gudjhonsen, Duff, to name the best.

Couldn't agree more, Jose inspired us to want more than 2nd in the league and semi finals of the C/L. He yearned for more all the time and so now we are use to aspiring to a certain standard - Grant is no where even close to the calibre of manager who should be managing this team for another 3 years.

And I don't give a flying f**k if he wins us the CL trophy this year - he's still an average manager hopelessly out of his depth, it's the squad performing at key moments that has kept him from being fed to the lions.

And I agree about JT and the other players - the spirit of togetherness is not as strong as it once was. Grant can't inspire anyone I have a feeling with his mumbling platitudes and mutterings - no wonder the players are losing concentration and look glum all the time. They look at the bench and see a man scratching his head repeatedly or sitting on his hands in the dug out.

When Jose was here you saw a man with a notebook in his hand or prowling the touchline barking out orders which were obeyed immediately - now most players just ignore Grant if he flaps his arms around and yells at them - they take orders from Clarke or Cate.

The whole things is rotten to the core and it's gone that way in 6 short months or so.

I just have to hope Roman is man enough to admit his mistake and boot Grant back upstairs come the end of the season whatever we win (or don't) and find us a decent coach.

Such a travesty we lost Mourinho, no matter what his faults his managerial abilities could rarely be found fault with.

With Grant you could talk about his weaknesses all day.

Joe Cole, Lampard, Makalele, Cech(Fucking Steal), Bridge, Gudjhonsen, Duff, to name the best.

Ben Haim after a shaky start has not done too badly, he was bought as filler material remember as was Sidwell.

Jose left us with Drogba who on his day is about the best striker in the world.

Riccy one of the best centre backs in the world.

Essien a great presence in midfield and could easily become a world class player.

Mikel can become a great player if handled correctly.

Belletti has proved a success and so has Alex.

He helped develop the games of JT, Joe Cole and Lampard to the point where they are all England team regulars, captain material and one was nominated for FIFA World Player if I'm not mistaken.

Yes he made some bad buys but if you brought out Benitez's selections I'm not sure if they would be any better and Fergie has had a few embarrassing flops which no one seems to like to mention.

And given the rumours behind the scenes seemingly wanting to stick their nose in and recommending players we really don't have any clear idea if some of the flops you list were Jose buys 100%.

So I'm not denying that he bought some bad players but some of the ones he left behind have currently got us to the semi final of the C/L and 2nd in the P/L and if they win something this year whose players will Grant have been relying on mostly?

Ones either bought or developed by Jose.

When he was at Porto his buying record appeared pretty damn good - there he had no interference in his buys. He had to buy cheap and he found good players who were often total unknowns and turned them into stars or at least good enough to win titles. Makes me wonder if some of the misses at our club were all his doing.
