TorontoChelsea 4,064
i reckon he fell out of love with the games a few years back,he seems to prefer the G G `s these days.He stayed around a lot longer than I thought he would. He had a very good career but it was still disappointing based on what he could have been. It was that injury while with Newcastle that finished him as a top player. HRiver 1,512
Am I the only one who thinks he has lived off his famous goal v Argentina and the things he achieved during the beginning of his career for far too long?I am not saying he had no talent, but I cannot even imagine what the reaction will be when legends like Lampard and Gerrard announce their retirements. CHOULO19 24,332
His decision to retire came about 6 years too late, imo.

Guest FullEnglishBreakfast
Look at Michael Owen, then look at Fernando Torres. Exactly the same circumstance. I'm more cut about Owen though, that fella was great.Fun Fact #32: Owen has never scored 20 or more league goals in any season.
Ollie 4,400
Yet he's won the Ball on d'or somehow. Great striker though, should've gone on to be England's greatest ever striker, adding another 50 caps and another 20 goals. It was the injury he sustained against Leeds back in around 2000 ish that started his injury nightmare and those injuries stopped him becoming a true great imo. The goal against Argentina is probably my favourite ever England goal tbh even though we lost. It was back at a time i really loved football more than ever, even the national team.
