Newton made an appearance in the Premier League TV show 'Premier League Today' and 'Fanzone'. In appearing for the latter show, he had this to say about younger lads at the club when being asked about it by guests who called/emailed to the show.

Eddie Newton was involved in “FanZone” on Premier League TV. Fanzone is a show where fans get to call in and put up their opinion on matches/transfers. They also have a chance to ask the guests questions. Chelsea assistant manager made a appearance for the show and questions were loaded. Alison Bender was the presenter of the show.

When Newton was asked about Florent Malouda’s situation, he claimed RDM and himself spoke to Malouda, and the club are dealing with the situation. He couldn’t comment anymore.

Newton then spoke about Chelsea’s youngsters including Thorgan Hazard and Josh McEachran. He believes Thorgan is similar to his brother Hazard, and believes Oscar can play in multiple positions.

Thorgan is similar to Hazard. He’s got talent. Piazon is doing very well. He’s part of our squad and he deserves it. It’s very difficult to

break into the Chelsea team. In the case of McEachran. He hardly played any games with Swansea City last season, and to be part of the Chelsea squad this season is a massive hurdle. When we see how he progresses with a Championship team we hope he has a better chance to break into the team. The transition from school boy football to men’s football may be hard but loans and the NextGen Series will help the youngsters. It’s great for the coaches to see if the players can cope with that.

Chelsea fans had to ask about Chelsea’s new signing Oscar, and Newton believes that Chelsea are blessed to have a talented player.

Oscar can play in number of positions. We are blessed with players who can play in multiple postions. He can play in the number 7 role. Again he is not going to be a old fashion winger. He’s not that style of player. He can play in the number 10 role. He can also play in the 6 and 8 role. Where Lampard and Obi play. He isn’t ready to play in the number 6 or 8 role yet, but it’s something he has. The number 10 and 7 he can play in those positions the most.

Eddie Newton is impressed with Eden Hazard’s form but believes that the fans should relax on him, as the Premier League will get more intense.

We have to relax on Hazard. One thing about the Premier League is it’s very hard to adapt too. They are not used to the intensity of it. He will be surprised by the Premier League soon. Game after game after game with the Carling Cup, Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup. We need to let him get used to the system of the PL. He can fall off really quickly from his form.

A specific fan asked about the situation of strikers Chelsea are looking at, and indirectly mentioned Hulk as a unsucceeded transfer. Newton was not able to fully comment on the situation but gave a hint of Porto asking for more money.

A club will be linked with a lot of players, and it’s natural with a club like Chelsea. Roman wants to run Chelsea like a business. Chelsea aren’t going to pay over the odds, so if a club asks 10-15m more we won’t overpay.

Another fan asked about Frank Lampard, and if he will leave space for youngsters this season.

He can’t play all the games like he used too but his experience is needed in big games. Lampard will leave space for youngsters to break into the team.

Interesting to see Eddie said Oscar isn't ready for the number 6 role, thank god, thought we'd destroy him playing him their straight away! Maybe Robbie and Eddie are looking to handle the youngsters better than they previously have been by other managers.

Not rubbish but nowhere near Eden's level.

Unless we have seen both of them play for an extended period of time - I don't think we're in a position to judge?

Yes, Eden's had a great few games for us - but like Eddie says - we gotta keep the 'realism' in perspective... He might have a bad run of form etc. I should hope the "Hazard's" are like the "De Boer" brothers - that would be amazing for us :)

He is not going to Thorgan is rubbish, is he?

Well, he could have said something like 'We are still accessing Thorgan. He looks good and has quality ' but to say he is similar to Eden is a bit over the top in my opinion. May be Thorgan is that talented andi would love to be wrong but Eddie has allready put him on a pedestal by saying he is similar to a guy who has been french player of the league twice.

From the comments, they do see Oscar in the pivot, but he's just not quite ready to be starting in that position yet. So basically it will be Ramires and Romeu rotating with Frank and Mikel for the most part and Oscar will be eased into that role over time.

I do think Oscar will be our Lampard replacement and will start games in the pivot come next season (if Rdm is still in charge). It sounds as though that is the long term plan

McEachran is one of the most underrated english youth players in the country, him, Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling look like three of the only English players who could reach world class.

Players like Tom Cleverly are just decent, wont touch world class for me.

McEachran played a great through ball to Ishmael Miller the other week, but that statue missed it. I bet any money if he doesn't get injured McEachran will have a great season at the Boro and everyone will have high hopes when he comes back. He's too good not to do well.

You could have just posted that in here you know rather having to create another similar thread.

When I started writing that thread, this thread didn't exist either. Actually writing this stuff takes much more time than copy paste you know :P :P :P

Maybe a mod can merge the two? And change the tittle please because mine is not just about youngsters? :)
