James 5,331
Chelsea will be going into this new season on a real high, following their remarkable Champions League victory over Bayern Munich, but given the reputation for capriciousness and unpredictability that the owner Roman Abramovich has cultivated during his decade at the club, it would be a brave man who bets on the current situation being sustained. It seems strange to think that a manager who masterminded a Champions League win could be considered amongst the potential candidates to be sacked this season by both pundits and those betting on the issue with sports betting and online casino sites. These are accessed even on the move via sites like Jackpot City, so you never need to be far from updates. Jackpot City even has a football themed slots game. The game focuses on the football of the good old times, and, realistically, Abramovich hasn’t demonstrated much patience with managers in the past. Furthermore, the actual decision to give Di Matteo the job on a permanent basis was less than convincing, with Chelsea delaying the announcement past the point most would have expected. From Di Matteo’s point of view, he clearly needs to establish the club within the all-important top four early – as it was failure to achieve this that cost the previous incumbent his job; Chelsea simply cannot afford not to be in the Champions League places. The key figure for Di Matteo is likely to be one that he himself was not responsible for bringing to the club – Fernando Torres. With Didier Drogba gone, Torres is now going to be under intense pressure to produce the goals that will guarantee a top four place for Chelsea and, given his failure to produce thus far, this is not something that we can be certain will happen. The season would seem to be make or break for the fifty million pound striker as much as for the manager, as their can be no hiding place for Torres now that he is indisputably the main striker at the club; but for Di Matteo, his form in front of goal is likely to be the difference between keeping or losing his job.Click here to view the article
YouNameIt 1,511
I strongly believe Danny will be the key figure for us this season, not Torres.
OneMoSalah 8,886
Villas-Boas was let down by certain players, Robbie can't get the same treatment. Be it from Torres, Lampard or anyone, everyone's got to pull together in the same direction to achieve our goals this season. Torres has to got to show he deserves a spot in the team too, goals are likely to be scored by other players but as a striker we can't have any of this oh he got 20 odd assists for us pish. He needs to prove his worth in goals. If he doesn't Studge will step up and hopefully continue his form from the start of last season. Sheva. 5,373
I'm sure Torres will score close to or more than 20 goals this season. But we will also need whoever is the second striker, Sturridge or whoever to help out with double digit goals.
Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
the chances of us getting every dollar out of the 50mill deal is very slim, i mean i'd expect 2 30goal campaigns. but for Torres this year, we gota expect 20goals, he's leading the front line and there's nobody else in his way, so all eyes will be on him and i agree with @YouNameIt, he better not lax off and think the coast is clear, because studge is a fiesty fellow and will take every chance he gets.we're just gona have to wait and see no more excuses or he's out. mtowle182 79
not one doubt in my mind that torres won't produce. He has looked good so far and has done pretty good at passing the ball in the final 1/3. When he took on those 3 defenders with the meg and shot fake we saw the torres of old. Man if that defender didn't slide in and torres scored, I would have gone batshit crazy.
