Yes you are but you are still wrong, Rajkovic wasnt loaned he was sold to Hamburger SV :D

I think he has a buy back clause of some sort. I remember AVB talking about it. So if we ever wanted to, we could get him back.

Yes he has, but that doesnt mean he wasnt sold :D And I expect that he has some clause similiar to one that Oriol Romeu has.

The most important thing is giving opportunities to the youth players. For example, Barcelona's acadamy isn't much better than Real's acadamy but Real doesn't give any opportunities to their youth players whilst Barca does. I believe youth players often are good enough but they aren't given any chances to shine. Everytime Bertrand was given an opportunity he was at least decent.

I am from Holland and in Holland we give opportunities to youth players. Not only in this day and age but also when Dutch clubs were one of the best in the world. When players like Seedorf and Bergkamp made their debut, they were 16-18. Coaches like Van Gaal and Rijkaard gave players like Messi and Xavi their debut at a very young age. O fcourse these are all exceptionally talented players but they are just the first examples I can think of. "When a player is good enough, you shouldn't look at his age" - Johan Cruijff (or something like that)

So much needs to change to help us bring through players better, it is going to be interesting to see how the new U21's development league works. Could be key to aiding in the gap. Having Ryan Betrand around is a big plus and he needs to get plenty of games next season. Kakuta will either be sold or stay with the club and will need plenty of minutes on the first team pitch. Appearances here and there for the few standout players Piazon ect..

Like i say so much is going to depend on the new U21's league, will decide if we send some players out on loan or keep for these games.

Esk the truth is our youth academy and youth program has failed in recent years and I blame it on the constant changing of managers. We had high hopes for so many of them but none of them broke through and players like Tom Taiwo are playing for teams like Carlisle United now.

So many circumstances at play to have denied oppertunities. For me the biggest obstacle has been the poor quality of football for over 18's. Loans only work rarely and reserves is poor, so many players between the ages of 18 and 20 lose their way and end up leaving having not fulfilled their potential. A stable manager may have helped, but not by much.

What is your thoughts on the new U-21 league and other changes they have made? Is it competitive enough to bypass loaning players?

Only time will tell on that one i am afraid. The NextGen series should be great, but it is the older players that are of more concern so the U21's. IF it is a large enough league to allow for a game a week, and IF all the team experiment rather than use loans then it will be very good. Also will there be relegations and promotions to promote competition? All the best U21's competing week in week out will be a very useful platform to first team football.

Like i said, time will tell. I hope it will be a huge improvement.

The official website posted this article on the new youth league system in the PL. It targets the development gap in the 18-21 by removing the reserve system (which was optional) and replacing it with a mandatory, 4-tiered league consisting of a U-21 team. The match schedules are also designed to follow the first team (games on the weekend...maximizes training time with the first team), and depending on the fixture, will be played a Staines Town, Brentford FC's Griffin Park, and at least two matches a year at the Bridge. http://www.chelseafc...2826147,00.html

good read.
