A lot of Belgians popping up on the forum with the invasion what's happening to our beloved club.

So why not make a thread were we can talk about Belgian footballers and football all around the globe.

The posibble starting line-up for the England game tommorow is a good starter :)

Simon Mignolet (Sunderland, ENG), Guillaume Gillet (Anderlecht), Jan Vertonghen (Ajax, maar wellicht nog naar Tottenham of Arsenal), Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal, ENG), Vincent Kompany (Man City, ENG), Axel Witsel (Benfica, Por), Marouane Fellaini (Everton, ENG), Moussa Dembélé (Fulham, ENG), Dries Mertens (PSV, Ned), Kevin Mirallas (Olympiakos, Gri), Eden Hazard (Chelsea, ENG)

I hope Lukaku will get some time to..

Isn't that a great read, only one from the jupiler league. This group has to shine on a wc..

Your new generation of players is scary. I'm a bit interested though, how has this happened? I may be wrong, since I'm fairly young, but in my memory I don't remember Belgium shining with exciting prospects and world class players... what's changed?

I can see Belgium being a surprise and going far in WC 2014.

20 years ago did Belgium change as a country?, did school facillities change and such?.

The case with Netherlands is because they are a very rich country for there small population, and all there schools have great facillities, such as sport facillities, and it gets kids into the football, like in England most schools are shite. We pretty good players because of our population mostly, where as the Dutch it confuses you but that's why. It could be the same way with Belgium, but i don't know much about the country.

I think a lot of teams took a example from many teams in Holland with creating a good youth facility. Also some current internationals left abroad (Holland a lot, like Hazard France..) and break trough over there cause of excellent youth programs over there..

Now teams like Anderlecht, Genk, Standard, Gent, Bruges all have some good youth running around.

I love it how you already listed Hazard as a Chelsea player. B)

Belgium have such a talented squad and most of them are also less than 25 years old and can still improve. I reckon you'll be challenging the top nations in a couple of years time when your players are more experienced and have played more games together as a national team and maybe one day Belgium could go as far as lift one of the major trophies in international football. I'm so jealous because Finland can't even qualify to the tournaments. :D

It will happen some day :(

Probably not for about 20 years though though, since the 1990s to about now we've had some of our best of all time. Wade, Viduka, Emerton, Zelic, Kewell, Cahill, Schwarzer, Bosnich, Bresciano, Kalac, to mention just a few. The next crop aren't anywhere near those listed above in their levels of skill; I don't think we'll qualify for the 2018 or 2022 World Cup's.

Ah, well, there's always the cricket to look at and be proud of our youth development in that sport

How do you guys rate De Bruyne? i really want him to stay at Chelsea next season and play a part in our team.

I definitely think he should play CM, maybe switch with Lampard every now and then.

He's great. Good dribble, excellent passing, long, short, trough doesn't matter. He could become a kind a player like Lampard but still has all to prove at a high level.. I think at Cfc he would be a lot on the bench, so probably a loan deal would be better to gain experience..

But who knows he suprises everyon on the US tour ;)
