DavidEU 2,023
Title says it all. Thoughts? Agree or disagree? And probably most important, who would your new gaffer be? Some may feel that this is a little rash, but yesterday was the last straw for me. Yes, his record thus far (3 defeats in 35 games) isn't the worst, but his failure against the big teams is worrying. Liverpool H, Olympiakos A and yesterday were three of the worst performances I've ever seen from Chelsea and all within a few weeks. His appointment still baffles me. For one, why would any board feel it would be 'in the interest of the club' to let go of the greatest manager in the clubs history? Surely you'd do everything in your power to make him stay? I just dont understand Kenyon and Roman's logic behind this. And why would you then replace him with someone who's won fuck all outside Israel and say he's the best man for the job? Its like picking a random person off the street to do the job. The man has no tactical knowledge what so ever and his managerial qualities must be compared to McClaren and Keegan (shite). Every single fan in a blue shirt would tell you SWP doesn't play well wide right, and Anelka is far from a winger. Why pay £15 million to play him out of position? Also, why leave Claude Makelele out of your biggest game so far this season? Yes, Mikel is good, but for now Makelele is still the master and in the HUGE games he is as important as Cech, JT, Frank and Drogba. You can see that Stevie Clarke was doing the team talks yesterday with JT, with Grant just pottering along in the background. Why? Thats not a manager - Bill Blood probably did more to encourage the team at FT and HT of ET. I don't think Avram has the backing of the players, I really dont, and who would want to play for him. With Jose we didnt just have a great tactician, we also had a reason for players to want to join us, something we dont have now, and with Avram in charge, I can see us losing the core of the team I mentioned above. With Avram in charge, I can only see us going backwards, and with Everton, Liverpool, Spurs all improving we could be in a worse position than before Roman joined. Rant over. Thoughts? Fulham Broadway 17,362
Well theres been several on this forum been saying this for a while now, and I dont like the 'I told you so' approach. but.... The danger is, unrest and resentment will start to fester in the dressing room, and some players offloaded only for the same 'rising damp' to surface. Oh for a Poyet, Zola, anyone witha bit of passion yesterday, instead of that hang dog, shifty eyed twat. Its a waste of talent on the pitch to not have them properly motivated, and tactically played to the best advantage.

Thoughts? you've summed it up very nicely, i just cannot see any good happening at Chelsea, may be just maybe the current crop of players have taken us as far as they can, i honestly can see us ending up with nothing this season we can't score more than one goal at a time. i liked your comment about maka how the fucking hell did he not pick him, he's the lifeblood of the midfield the spuds would never have got the better of him. apart from that i always have been nervous when Chelsea having been defending a lead, jose had a way of consoling me, like the time (i forget against who) with about 2 minute's to go he got up shook stevie clarke's hand and then the rest of his staff and walked off down the tunnel... "that's it" jose said job done..............brilliant stuff.........................how the fuck could RA sack a man like that so we get rid of grunt who do we bring in...............my personal feeling is that rijkard is not the man for the job.....................ramos it appears would have been a good choice, not now though he's tainted.....so who does that leave, van basten has just taken over at ajax, there dosn't seem to me to be a valid candidate. having said that i'd rather have anybody than that imbecile, even the man on the street at least he'll be able to speak the lingo regards:JBD
EskWeston 696
Unfortunately i don't think you are going to get your wish. At the end of the day he has got better results than anyone thought he would do. He would turn round at the end of the season and say, we did OK last season - now give me the summer to bring my players in and prepare for the season my way..... I think he will be given next season no matter what.
Elliott 7
I am already repeating myself, but before anyone does go the way of "I told you so", remember that I gave Grant a chance in my eyes only because it was obvious he wasn't going anywhere anyway. I was as unhappy with his appointment as anyone else on here. Time for him to go for sure, but we're not gonna get a decent replacement until the summer. Sack him now, install Clarke or Ten Cate as caretaker manager and make a proper appointment when a manager becomes available or the summer. misschief 24
Why exactly has it taken for us to lose in a final for people to realise he was never the man for the job? some of us have been slated this season for sticking to our guns and not giving him a chance, but I guess at least we were less shocked by yesterdays result than others. Personally, I fully expected to lose, just as I expect to win nothing else as long as that retard's in place. I hope the Russian's happy with the mess HE is solely responsible for this season. Yes he may well have ploughed millions into Chelsea but until he accepts he cocked up big time, giving a retard the job of managing his investment, we will remain the laughing stock he's made us. tlax25 0
I agree with all here. Grant is not the right man for the job and yesterday only proved the point. Why didn't JC start? Why did Grant play Anelka wide? As far as I know Anelka has never played wide before and it showed. He was a complete non-factor in the game. I was willing to give Grant some time, after I got over JM leaving. However, clearly he has done nothing to improve the club to date. We still play boring, boring football and now we are not even winning anything. I think I fell asleep watching the television during the Liverpool game it was so boring. Granted, Grant has had to deal with a lot of injury problems and the ANC, but for me, we need to get a top manager in who can motivate the players (and they seem to be lacking motivation right now) like JM and also try and get us to play some more entertaining football. Ollie 4,400
The appointment was a joke anyway, everyone here knows it. hes hardly a big name and i didnt know who he even was anyway. Avram who? A team like Chelsea needs a top well known proven manager and you can hardly call mr grant that. He knows nothing, he has no clue, the other 2 are doing everything pretty much. Steve Clarke for next manager. Ok so hes not a big name proven manager but hes Chelsea through and through. If we dont get a major name, a Chelsea boy like clarke is ideal and would get all of our support. Klinsman? Fuck that, ex yid, no Chelsea connection, not much experience.......just as bad as grant. Possibly on Grant? I very much doubt it, if Grant did go whom is just hanging around of suitable calibre that could take up the reins - and no it can't be Jose! Roman has invested too much of his own ego in this appointment to get rid of Grant right now - if he fails in the other cups and league then yes he probably will get kicked back upstairs where he should have stayed.
