Aussiedan 154
'We expected to lose, but not by that much': Sunday league football team sets unwanted record after going down 58-0 (that's a goal every 90 seconds) Strike force of two brothers notched up 28 goals between themEight of the Wheel Power FC squad celebrated at least a hat-trick eachDismayed Lewis Parker, 60, says his side went in with low expectationsNova 2010 FC now have a goal difference of -163 (but at least they're not bottom of the table)By Lyle BrennanThe heroic second-half comeback is the stuff of football folklore, the plucky underdogs charging from the dressing room to reverse an impossible lead. But going into the break with a colossal 20-goal deficit, Nova 2010 FC had little doubt that this was to be the mother of all drubbings. The amateur side has racked up the biggest defeat in British history - losing 58-0 in a clash with local rivals Wheel Power FC in the Torbay Sunday League in Devon.Thrashed: Lewis Parker, 60, from Paignton, Devon, who plays for Nova 2010 FC. He says the underdogs went in with little hopeThe league leaders notched up another 38 goals in the second half, with brothers Robbie and Stuart Bowker scoring 28 times between them.It is believed Wheel Power’s win is the biggest on record, beating Cornish side Illogan’s 55-0 demolition of Madron FC in November 2010.Nova arrived for the match last Sunday at Wheel Power’s ground in Torquay with just five players but managed to get a team of nine together to face their ten-man opponents. The home team quickly made use of their one-man advantage by scoring five times in the first five minutes.Robbie Bowker, 27, was the star man scoring 18 goals with younger brother Stuart hitting ten.Top scorers: Robbie Bowker (left) and his brother Stuart netted 28 goals between them in Wheel Power's 58-0 demolition of NovaOther players on the scoresheet included Justin Grinsill, Jordan Lam and Kurtley Hassall, who each bagged six while there were hat-tricks for Mike Wright, Lewis Jones and Adam Simpson.Ashley Hoare scored a brace while player-manager Andy Woodward knocked in a solitary strike.Stuart Bowker, 21, said: 'At 50-0 they’d had enough but the referee told them they must carry on playing or they would risk being fined.'After the final whistle a couple of their players shook hands but the rest just got into their cars and drove off, but you can’t really blame them for that.'They weren’t even bottom of the league.'Sitting at the foot of the table is Applebys, who have also been on the receiving end of a thrashing by Wheel Power - losing 30-0 and 27-0 already this season. The club kept count of the score thanks to one of the players' mothers, who was watching from the sidelines. And they claim they would have scored around 70 had it not been for poor finishing and the fact they were missing their best striker.Nova managed just ONE attempt at goal - a speculative punt from the half-way line after one of their kick-offs, with the ball clipping the top of the bar and bouncing over.Andy Woodward, player-manager for the winners, added: 'The referee’s biro went blunt after a while.'It was a bit embarrassing but fair play to the other team for carrying on - they were really sporting.'The result will certainly help at the end of the season if it goes down to goal difference.'Rampant: The Wheel Power FC squad who ran riot in the Torbay Sunday League clashLewis Parker, 60, who plays for Nova 2010, said: 'A lot of the players didn’t turn up so we expected to lose but not by that much.'Wheel Power now have a four-point lead at the top of Division One of the Torbay Sunday Football League with an incredible goal difference of 167 after 15 games. This Sunday they face third-place Plough Inn, who, with the league’s third meanest defence, should offer a sterner test.Nova 2010, meanwhile, are languishing second from bottom with the trashing leaving them with goal difference of -163.Read more: http://www.dailymail...l#ixzz1qARsjDlj

Aussiedan 154
Does this mean we've lost our 31-0 record? And I thought American Samoa were a shambles. No, our 31-0 win is the biggest in International Football. This 58-0 is the biggest win in British Football. The biggest I think I've found is 149-0 game in Madagascar. AS Adema beat Stade Olymique L'Emyrne on October 31st 2002.Stade Olymique L'Emyrne put the ball in their own net 149 times in protest over a referee decision. LOL.
