I wish to God that AVB would play Luiz as a full-back. He'd be brilliant there, in my opinion. Great technical ability and a good pass/cross/shot on him. I made a post more than a year ago saying that's where he should be playing.

He only played it once there, I believe, against Sporting (not 100% sure on this though), and it was only for 45 minutes. However he is made for the modern-day full-back role. Quick, agile, athletic, tenacious and with plenty of attacking quality. Plus his errors are less costly on the flanks than in the centre.

He's agile, and does burst quickly from the deep, but somehow I can't visualize him running up and down the pitch like Cole does...then again, not many people can imagine Ivanovic doing it either...the latter is built like a locomotive though...

Well it's worth giving it a go I guess. Maybe try it out for a half hour against Bolton or something? If it doesn't work then simply switch Luiz and Ivanovic back to CB and RB respectively

Never saw that game, but I've heard that before. Maybe he's not fast enough for a full back,... and of course he doesn't have the strength to impede wingers like Ivanovic.

Still, it won't hurt to try. I mean, we've even used Malouda as a full-back before.

Some pointers, I would use this side & formation against almost every side in the league apart from Spurs & Arsenal as they will attack us. Every other team we play against stick 10 men behind the ball & hope to nick a goal on the counter hence our hefty possession & poor results.

Cahill in the middle of a back 3 because he's the quickest, Ryan instead of Cole because he is far better going forward & Luiz has to be moved forward quite simply because he is the most technically gifted player at the club, Ramires due to his industry & Romeu alongside. Mata has to play as our AM in any system, Danny to play upfront on his natural left side alongside one of Drogs or Torres - can't decide! This team & formation would provide width, flair & goals, I would revert to a different system when we play attacking sides & adapt personel/formation when/if needed, which would be 4-3-1-2 with Cole, Essien & lamps coming in for Bertrand, luiz & Romeu.
