I don't think there's any dishonesty in their intentions. Their intentions are not to sell. If that changes in the summer so be it.
-
If I recall CHO had a contract offer before Sarri showed up and still hasn't signed it. I wouldn't put the blame on him, at least not all of it. I think the CHO situation is strongly linked to what has happened with our past youth players well before Sarri got on the scene. He isn't blameless, just wouldn't be the major target of my ire. That would be higher up the food chain. We are reaping what we've sown with our past lack of youth integration.
-
Frankly it sounds like with these conditions that you are trying to strong arm us into a sale on your conditions. He has a contract good for another 18 months. The fact is it doesn't suit us to sell him now. In the summer that may change. If you are interested in the summer then the clubs can talk. If you have to sign him now, well, I'm not the club buy I'd tell you to take a hike.

Agreed that option 3 makes no sense. In my mind there's 3 options. 1. he stays here and signs a new contract. 2. he signs with Bayern 3. he signs with another team I thought Dortmund and Leipzig have expressed interest in him. His options are not necessarily binary between Chelsea or Bayern. I think the best option for him is to get his head and play out the season here. At that point he has a better idea of what he feels his path to the first team here is. Bayern will still be there this summer. I said earlier that for the rest of the season I felt he would make a bigger impact here then if he went to Bayern because of the issue of being acclimated here and not having to adjust in his personal life and new team.
-
This is what I mean why I don't see option 3 as really an option. At that point in time he'll have way more competition for a spot at Bayern then he would here. The only time it makes sense for him is this summer with Ribbery and Robben gone and gamble that he can get ahead of Coman, Gnabry and Davies.
-
That's possible, but I still think it's worth the risk in the long run. Besides the chance to get others involved in bidding for him, frankly we need him the rest of this season and if he helps us insure a top 4 finish it will be worth more then money we'd lose if we can't get anyone else to bid for him.
-
I don't think 3 is really an option. Bayern may want him now but they aren't just going to sit by and not add players on the wing for a season waiting on CHO. Especially with Robben and Ribbery leaving after this season. Think the only option for Bayern is a move this summer and I outlined earlier why I think that's the best value for them.
-
While I understand the sentiment I don't think that would be the best decision for the club. I'd keep a cool head, keep him for the rest of the season and play him and then reassess things in the summer. If we just put him on ice then we will lose him for nothing and we gain nothing. If we play him and show his talents off there's a chance for us to change his mind and if not at least he's in the shop window and we might be able to attract some other clubs into the mix. Add a few more clubs and perhaps we can get a bit more profit out of him because if he fulfills his potential then 35mil is not a good deal. May as well see if we can change his mind or get more.
-
I'm not sure if you are really interested in finding out our thoughts on CHO and what he'd mean for you. I and others earlier in the thread explained why Chelsea supporters feel the price you are offering isn't enough to justify the move and I later gave you my thoughts on if having him for the rest of the season would be worth it for Bayern. Yet you seem to be more interested in fighting with posters and defending Bayern's honor and conduct then actually discussing CHO.
-
I think he could do well but probably not worth it for you. He's much more valuable to us then to you talking about now until the end of the season. We are having a bit of an injury crisis at the moment and he offers something none of other wingers do really. In my opinion the odds are he'll always do better here then moving in the short term, now until the end of the season. He's been here since he was 7, he's comfortable, he has his support here. Moving there he's going to take time to get acclimated. Does he speak German? Even if he does it's still going to be an adjustment period and I don't see that he would really perform as well under those situations.
-
I think he could be a very good impact sub for us. Would he be happy with that role though? Might be better to try for Tonali who is younger and might appreciate that role more and who can grow into a starter in a couple of seasons. Getting Barella would give us more options immediately and Tonali would give us the back up depth and future starter.

Wish they'd buy back Drinkwater. Maybe a Drinkwater/Chilwell swap.

I think it is a high-risk transfer for Bayern. High-risk but high-reward as well. If you really want to know why they don't think the cost proposed is enough just look at Sancho and KDB. KDB we thought we got good money for at the time and then look at his cost a year or two later. The same applies to Sancho as far as cost last year, having one good year, and boom, look at his cost now. Mostly it's his potential and pre-season performances as well as Sancho's performance that make people think the cost is not enough. You also can't rule out the fact that's he's homegrown from our academy and been with the club since he was 7 years old. That's worth a lot to supporters here and why they don't want to give him up easily. They also see that in the next year or so spots are going to be opening up on the wings and it's a perfect opportunity for him to stake a first team place just as it looks like possibly happening at Bayern, although I think Bayern have more younger options then we do at the moment to replace their aging wingers.
-
I think we can all agree on this.
-
I think yesterdays attacking line up was more about lack of fitness then shoehorning Willian in to be honest. I don't think Giroud was capable of playing many minutes and Pedro was coming back from injury as well. For that matter, so was Willian. As for CHO, we'll never know because of all the noise but I expect he would have been starting to get more minutes now regardless, just like RLC earlier in the season. That's all hypothetical of course since there has been all this noise.
-
I really hope they can get this done quickly. I have high hopes for the impact he could have on our midfield.
-
I would hope the cost wouldn't be 45 mil but dealing with Napoli I guess that's probably about right.
-
I'd definitely like to see him leading the line for us.
-
Fair points.
-
I think you can't let him go right now no matter what. Not just the injuries and cover situation but just principle. Keep him and give him playing time for the rest of the season. He looked alright last night and better then our other options bar Hazard. Summertime it's time to get things settled. If he's shown he can play I'm sure his price will go up even more then what they are offering now and there's more potential suitors. I'd just refuse Bayern anyway and take another offer if it came to that. There's a couple things that could change the dynamic in the summer. Bayern aren't not going to get replacement wingers. Ribbery and Robben are done and Bayern won't leave their team short just to get CHO for free a year later.

I think it's a valid point that changing a team usually takes time and both of those two examples are great examples of it. Neither of those teams were all conquering right from the start under those 2 managers. They both had problems that held them back. Pep got much more of an infusion in the second season to push things along faster but Klopp has been steadily improving his team year on year and they both are reaping the rewards now 3 and 4 years on. It's going to take a bit of patience from the board and the fans to really change things. Don't lower your standards but perhaps be aware and accepting that this year isn't going to be up to those standards and that's not necessarily a failure in and of itself. I could be wrong and I don't want to speak for Sarri but I doubt he has failed to realize Alonso is terribad or that Willian is shite. In my opinion he just doesn't think there's a better option at the moment. I wish he'd played CHO more earlier but I do believe CHO was going to start getting more minutes anyway. I see that situation very much like the RLC situation. Getting small opportunities and as they perform getting more time on the pitch. As a coach in charge for 6 months he's been cautious, perhaps overly cautious, in making changes and trying not to upset the squad. It can be tricky trying to integrate multiple players at a time. I don't think I'd call him overly stubborn on players as much as I'd say he's been overly cautious. I guess it amounts to the same in the end. It's frustrating but like we have to take into account our history with youth when looking at the CHO situation I think we also need to taking into account our history with managers when looking at Sarri. I can understand some caution on his part to avoid disrupting squad and making big changes quickly. Anyway, not trying to make excuses as much as bring a different perspective.
-
I can't believe the club would agree to that. It makes no sense at all. If he stays and plays well I'm sure there will be more suitors for CHO in the summertime. More suitors price goes up. How much will the price drop between 18 months and 12 months, not a lot I'd say. If he plays well it would even likely increase. You can say what you like about our board but this arrangement just doesn't seem to fit their style. Where are the papers getting this information? Are they all just rehashing it from a single source? It sounds a lot like some Bayern propaganda. Of course I could be wrong but everything about this whole deal seems a little off.
-
Think you need to recall the beginning of the season. Back then we were scoring pretty well and opening teams up we just were getting opened up almost as easily. This was a problem and now we are much more solid defensively but now we are having issues with scoring. It's going to take time, period.
-
I agree with what you say about needing a DoF. I disagree with placing the blame on Sarri. That blame also goes to the board who appointed him knowing the style of football he wants to play and the type of players need to play it.
-
How much do you think he would cost us? They kind of bent us over for Drinkwater.
