  2. Done. Your login name stays the same.
  3. We are back to the Premier League this weekend with a tough away game at Arsenal. Zenith, UFGN and Est83 from GoonersWorld.co.uk have taken a moment to answer some questions on this very important clash. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, we will start with a simple question. How long have you supported Arsenal for? UFGN: Since a very young age, about 1986. First match was in 87 at Highbury versus Villa. Won 2-0. Est83: Almost 29 years (my whole life). Tell us a bit about your season so far, do you like what you have seen and where could you improve? Zenith: Can't really complain about the way we started, defensively we have improved massively, of course this is only based on a handful of games, but the start has been very decent overall imo, still unbeaten! UFGN: Losing RvP was a huge blow of course. But I think at the moment Cazorla is looking good and our defence is looking organised, overall a good start. But the season is a long one and its form over the whole season that matters. Est83: We've seen our good defenders finally play to their potential under the influence of Steve Bould. A return of team defending (we haven't defended as a unit for more than five years now) and the return of our famous brand of football thanks to the signing of a true playmaker in Cazorla (something we were missing last year). Overall we're looking strong, confidant, organised, creative and looking like we're only going to improve. The main man up front does need to start scoring though, this is our main area of concern. Now that we have our creative play back, we're not relying on a single goal scorer as much as we were last year... but no-one wins the league without a talisman that's regularly on the score sheet. What are your expectations for the remainder of the season and where do you think Arsenal will finish? Zenith: The same as usual, either 3rd of 4th UFGN: I think we will finish fourth. I doubt we will win a trophy. Est83: 3rd place and hopefully a cup. Despite United's performances and squad not matching their points tally I'm fully expecting both Manchester clubs finish above us. City are still the club to beat, they're not playing great but they have the players and they'll eventually click. 2nd is more than possible, won't comment on a potential 1st place finish til March. Are there any players in your youth setup that you expect big things from in the future? Zenith: Gnabry, Eisfeld and Yennaris seem to have a very bright future ahead of them. UFGN: Joel Campbell looks sharp. But then again my judgement of young players is dreadful. I thought Vela would be the next Messi. Est83: Our first team is a little packed out at the moment, but we give chances to youngsters where other clubs would keep them with the youths. Coquelin, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Fimpong and Oxlade-Chamberlain are all young and all look set to play an important part in the first team in the coming years. Beyond that it's hit 'n' miss. Lansbury and Emmanuel-Thomas looked promising but have recently been sold. Miyachi, Gnarby, AFobe and Aneke are making more noise than anyone else at the moment, so keep an eye on them. What were your thoughts on Chelsea winning the Champions League last season? Do you think we deserved it with the defending football that we played? Zenith: If you win it, you deserve it, simple as that but I like to believe if you win things in style ergo with more attractive football, you make it look more deserved. It also makes some extra room for pride of what your club has achieved when they completely dominated their opponent in the final. UFGN: It would be easy for me to give a diplomatic answer here but I'll go for an honest one. If you have an owner who is determined to buy trophies, then of course one of the side effects of that is that you will win trophies. Est83: It's not what I like to see to be honest. I can understand scraping through one leg due to injuries or suspensions, or even two legs if you're up against Farcelona! But it looked as though Chelsea were playing for penalties from the off in a number of games, and in my opinion that's unforgivable, especially in a cup final... still, people will only remember the result, so congrats! Who do you think will win the league and take up the top four Champions League positions this time round? Zenith: 1: Utd / 2: City / 3: Arsenal /4: Chelsea UFGN: Man Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal. In that order. Probably. Est83: Citeh again for the league. Chelsea fourth. The crop of teams fighting it out for fourth (Totscum, Newcastle, Everton) all look good, Newcastle and Everton have certainly kicked on from last year. But there's still a clear gap. Totscum have had too many changes with losing two of their best players and getting a new manager, Newcastle will have the extra European fixtures, and Everton I think will just fall short. I don't think Chelsea will do well but I think they've got more than enough to secure a spot above those three teams. It must have been hard too see RVP leave Arsenal, Personally I think you have come out the blocks really well and look a big threat again this season. But are you happy with his replacements? Zenith: Let's just say we didn't get much less than most of us expected, Giroud is experiencing a difficult start but you don't just 'replace' a striker who nets 36 goals in one season. (30 of which in the League) UFGN: No I am not. As players Podolski and Cazorla are welcome additions, but they should have been additions, not replacements. Constant selling of our top players is a betrayal of the club by the board and the manager. Est83: It's difficult to see any one player as a direct replacement. The obvious is Giroud. But we're seeing a different approach in Gervinho (and possibly Walcott) as a false 9 as well as Giroud as a more typical lone striker. But like I said before, we've seen the return of our creative play, and with that comes multiple goal scorers. Personally I'm happy with Giroud and I do think he will come good, but in the mean time we're okay so long as everyone keeps chipping in as they are. If you could sign one Chelsea player who would it be and why? Zenith: Either Mata or Hazard, who has been involved in most of your goals so far, both add something extra, with their vision/pace/technique. They are valuable players both centrally and on the wings, wouldn't mind having another quality winger as Podolski is rather used as a false winger and Walcott simply isn't one, same for Arshavin. UFGN: Cech. Long term stability in goal is under-rated Est83: That freakishly tall 3rd choice keeper you guys have... or is that Citeh? Believe it or not, I'd take Torres. Mata, Hazard and Oscar would fit in effortlessly, but right now we have Giroud and a bunch of plan B's up front, instead of Giroud and genine competition. I think you'll see an improvement in Torres this season if Di Matteo succeeds in revamping Chelsea's style with all these technically gifted midgets he's brought in. If Chelsea were to sign one of Arsenal's player, who do you think would suit us the most and why? Zenith: Definitely Sagna, defensively probably the best RB in the world. UFGN: Chamakh. Hes f***ing amazing. You should sign him. Please. Est83: You're supposedly between styles at the moment so it's a little difficult to say. You had physically strong midfielders at one point with direct wingers... so maybe Diaby or Theo? Finally, what is your prediction for our upcoming Premier League encounter? Zenith: If you don't park the bus like you did against Barcelona, I can see us get away with a close win... 2-1! UFGN: 2-2 Est83: 3-1 Arsenal or there abouts. We're strong all over the park at the moment, and very organised. Even though the results are going Chelsea's way, you don't seem anywhere near the compact and resolute Chelsea teams of the past. This change of styles has left you looking a little disjointed, and so far you've only played one top team in Atletico Madrid... and we know how that turned out. Click here to view the article
  4. Unlucky with the car mate. Sucks to hear that. Happy Birthday again pal and take care of yourself!

  7. Good game so far. Torre should of really score there but straight at the keeper.
  8. Really mad.... Second corrupt hard drive in a matter of months and just lost everything that was important to me. Lost all my photos of my late grandfather and family photos of family occasions. All this happened from a firmware upgrade which was recommended.....
  9. Been looking for these for years and I finally found them!
  10. Just a quick heads up. There is now a team photos section of the site under the multimedia section. They are tracking all the way back too 1905. Enjoy all!
  11. That is actually really nice. Link please!
  12. I have this problem also mate. Jim tried sorting it a while ago but he couldn't figure it out. He even got someone from IP Boards to have a look into it. I hardly get any notifications at all to be honest. Just rep really and the occasional quote.
  13. You're back? We lost a lot of threads this had almost 100 pages but the site had to be updated and a big portion of posts were lost.
  14. It's not about what Talk Sport have to say and it's not about being an "idiot" it about seeing the difference from how Torres used to play at Liverpool/Atletico and how he plays at Chelsea. You say he has no service and there is plenty of reasons for that and it's not the other players fault. Torres would score goals our of nothing in his Liverpool and Atletico day and he just does not do that here. He would make wide runs and cut in and whip them into the corner, he would make runs in front and behind the defenders with a lot of space for the midfielder to put the pass through and again he does not do that. You said and I quote "When Torres receives the ball 95% of the time it is to his feet, WITH HIS BACK TO GOAL" Do you not see the problem with this statement at all. He is still getting the ball, now a good striker would make his own chances out of nothing as that's what a striker does. He will show intent to get around the player and sometimes Torres does this but very rarely because he mainly runs into the player. Look at Torres in his liverpool days, he would do it so easily. He would drop his shoulder and been gone without the defender being able to catch him unless his fouled him and more times then not he would score. Like I said earlier in my post I have backed Torres since he join us and I have not once said a bad word about the lad but if you honestly think he has not service ever now they you're not watching the same game. You say 99% of the fans in the MHL back Torres well I can tell you straight that is a load of Garbage because I sat in the MHL for almost a whole season and all people did was bitch and moan about him (I also sat with regular season ticket holders). Any Chelsea fan would want to see Torres come with the goods but it's not going to happen at this club and if it does it does not look like it's going to happen anytime soon. His attitude is garbage and if you think different again then you are watching a different player. He strolls in the box and doesn't put his body on the line in which he did all this at his former clubs. Watch the way he tries to receive service he stands right behind a defender on 75% of occasions instead of moving around and making a defender chase him. The Torres we intended on signing was Strong on the ball, he had vision and a great eye for goal. The Torres we received is completely different and I have only been able to accept this in the last few games but its become quite clear by his lack of trust by his team mates not to feed him in because he just gives the ball away. You may say what ever you wish about me and my support but most here will just garbish it. I don't read the bullshit in the media or do I listen to English radio. Including your backer Zolayes.
  15. I have backed Torres since he joined us but I can now say I have had enough. I always held the little hope that he would come good but I cannot see anyway back for him. Not in Chelsea colours anyway. He is just so lazy and the biggest problem is he waits for everything to be served to him on a silver platter instead of creating his own chances. Unlike Didier who would get infront and behind defenders and when he has the ball he would just shoot. Torres doesn't shoot at all, he will slow down the play and wait a bit more and then when he has space he passes. It just does not make any sense to me, I would give him some of my confidence in front of goal because I honestly think I would score more goals then him. He sits behind defenders instead of trying to get in front of them, majority of the time when he gives the ball away he puts his head down and just gives up. But the worst thing is, he is just not a threat to anyone. I highly doubt many teams are scared to play against him anymore because he just doesn't have that killer touch like he used too. Looking at the way he played today and pretty much the last few games disgusts me. There is no pride in the way he plays his game and with the wages he is on you would think he would fight like there is no tomorrow. But there is just no will power and it's so evident on his face. We don't have anyone to really back him up right now until Sturridge is fit again and it just scares me that we won't have anyone until January atleast with a lot of experience int he role. I could say so much more but I have work in the morning and need to sleep.
  16. We really need to win this game and hit some form again.
  17. WelshiesRevenge and Pottered from StokeCity-mad.co.uk have taken part in an interview discussing some key details for today’s Premier League encounter with Stoke City. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, we will start with a simple question. How long have you supported Stoke City for? WelshiesRevenge: Since I was old enough to kick a ball (I’m 40 now). Pottered: Since returning to England with my family (think it was now 20 seasons ago) and standing on the boothen end with my dad, brother and uncle for the very first time. We beat West Brom in a 4-3 thriller to go about 16th in the old third division. I think it was the start of a 26 game unbeaten run that helped us to be crowned Champions (well of the third tier anyway) at the end of the year. Tell us a bit about your season so far, do you like what you have seen and where could you improve? WelshiesRevenge: Four draws so far and to be honest made up with the way we've played. The Arsenal game was drab but both teams were poor. How could we improve? Well in all honesty, I would not change a thing, playing some good football. Adam and Nzoni are really helping us, as a forward-looking team. Who can now play through the midfield. Pottered: Disappointed to have not come away with more from Reading. Missed the home opener against Arsenal as had a weekend in the big smoke. By all reports it was more of the same. Feel hopeful following the game against Wigan and more so after an enjoyable (which many games of late haven't been) game against the Champions of England. What are your expectations for the remainder of the season and where do you think Stoke will finish? WelshiesRevenge: A good season in prospect, a top ten finish and a sneaky feeling we'll do well in the FA Cup. Pottered: Think top dozen, would love to break the top half but have a nagging feeling we'll just fall short again. Who knows less fixtures this season may see us scrape in. Are there any players in your youth setup that you expect big things from in the future? WelshiesRevenge: Florent Cuvelier a young Belgian midfielder who's on loan at Wallsall is pure class. We nabbed him off Pompey a couple of years ago, basically saved the Saddlers last season. Ben Glasgow is a right back we got from Arsenal in the summer. Also a young striker names Callum Pilkington looks set for a bright future too. Pottered: Not on Tony's nelly. There have been some promising signs from our new boys Oscar and Hazard. How do you think you will set up to stop out attacking players? WelshiesRevenge: Hazard looks to be a good buy for you. Any special defensive ploys to cope with you, erm sorry you know us, we pride ourselves on our defence! Wilkinson’s moment of madness leaves us with a headache on the right, Shotton’s the obvious replacement but he seems out of favour. My guess is newbie Geoff Cameron will be forced to play there, an excellent buy at 1.7m from Huston Dynamos. Pottered: Would you mess with Huth? Stoke made a few new signings during the transfer period, which one of these players excites you the most and tell us a bit about how they have started the season for you thus far. WelshiesRevenge: Jamie Ness (Rangers) not in our squad but young enough to come in through our U21's. He has not had a run out yet but looked good preseason. Maurice Edu (Rangers) again has not featured, but I reckon we might see him tomorrow at some stage. Geoff Cameron(Huston Dynamos) - CB and CM very impressed he's a class act ! enough said. Charlie Adam (Liverpool) rubbish at Anfield but so far he's been impressive for us, and at 4m could end up being a bargain . Michael Kightly (Wolves) displaced Matty Etherington on the left and has been very good, it's good to have some competition for places. Steven Nzonzi (Blackburn) only played v City but heard good things about his performance. Owen (The scum) hate him, but he's here now so I put my Stoke hat on and cheer him on. 3 mins v City isn't enough to draw any conclusions just yet. Pottered: Early to say but very impressed with Nzonzi. His work rate and nous. I haven't seen a Stoke player make that much time on the ball for himself for a long time. Did he misplace just the one pass? If you could sign one Chelsea player who would it be and why? WelshiesRevenge: I know he's gone but Drogba would have been epic here, current crop not sure yet sorry. Pottered: I can't see Torres tracking back. As much as I dislike the bloke can we have a full back, just tell him we don't want any pictures of him in his y-fronts (or out of them come to think of it). If Chelsea were to sign one Stoke player, who do you think would suit us the most and why? WelshiesRevenge: Your old boy Robert Huth. He's the one player who I would say is our lynch pin. Another more than capable of joining the glitterati at the Bridge would be Asmir Begovic the Bosnian is the best keeper I've seen at Stoke! Pottered: If Chelsea would sign one Stoke player it should be Rory Delap. He's been a great servant but the last time I saw him on the pitch he was on for the last 16 minutes and made 2 tackles with his arms because he couldn't keep up with the opposition players who had played the other 74 minutes. At least signing him would piss the Arsenal off. In all seriousness Huth - very shocked nobody has been in for the man mountain. Finally, what is your prediction for our upcoming Premier League encounter? WelshiesRevenge: Toughie but I think it will end up 1-1. Pottered: 1:1. Still smarting from the 2:1 defeat I witnessed in the first year at the bridge. Remember gesturing to a mate with fingers crossed with just minutes remaining, the rest like they say is history.
  18. Agreed. Would of been very soft to give that a penalty. But at the end of the day there was still contact and would of preferred to get it
