A thread can organically create other related discussion, that's how internet forums work. That particular Ronaldo goal was scored in the champions league, and was technically a strike of the ball, so I don't see why any mention of Zidane's goal should be shot down.

In recent history i'm sure most people would agree this is the greatest goal ever scored in the champions league. That goal was also voted the best champions league goal ever by experts, pundits and ex players for an itv show. When I say it's the greatest goal ever scored I'm exaggerating it's magnificence. Yet that statement is not far from the truth, due to the champions league being far more competitive than any other competition in the history of the game. Especially when you consider technological advancements in training, preparations and the science and player development involved today. Of course I haven't seen every goal ever scored, but I don't need to see a local grass roots team score past a part time plumber at centre back. The champions league final is the ultimate stage and to score a goal of that caliber was alien.

Technically nobody could argue against that, and for him to execute such an impossible goal in a champions league final is just mind blowing.

Of course he's wrong, i would of like to have seen Maradonna take on real defenders who weren't blinded by the sun. University's could enrol students on entire courses just discussing and analyzing how great that Zidane goal was. It's fact that Zidane's goal was the greatest ever scored. and that was a free-kick, juninho had all the time in the world. Zidane's goal took absolute precision, skill and perfect timing.

Ronaldo was legendary, and that was a quality goal. Although, the greatest ever strike/goal of all time was Zidane's champions league final goal. That was truly outstanding, and certainly the greatest champions league goal ever scored.
