The thing with the Mata situation is you can only bring 18 players to the game on game day. Starting 11 + 7 on the bench. Granted, 1 GK 2 Defenders 1/2 CM 1/2 AM 1/2 CF Out of the cm, am, and CF only one of them will have 2 spots on the bench... Logically, if we were winning, Mourinho wouldnt bring on an attacking player, moreso a CM or a Defender and if we were losing, he would probably bring on a CF.. So, at the end of the day, its going to be between Schurrle or Mata for the bench spot. Also, when people keep talking about what if Oscar gets injured, Hazard, etc. Too be honest, you can say the same thing about CM and our defenders and Cech. An injury to cech is a lot more severe for the gks, an injury to Rambo is a lot more severe for the cms, and if Jt gets injured, who knows whats going to happen. Am is the least of our worries for a defensive minded team. Mata with Mourinho will continue playing on the right side and continue being gassed out trying to play Jose game. Its one thing if we were selling our starting cam to Manchester United, but its another thing when your selling the last choice cam for Chelsea... Lastly, people act like Roman enjoys spending money on transfer fees. Act as if the potential funds raised from a sale wouldnt help Chelsea out this season and in the future. You cant keep expecting Roman to pay high fees to get high ranked players all the time.

Mata not world class. In addition, they would need to sacrifice Kagawa/Rooney and Adan growth. Also, what becomes of Nani than? Its risky business on United part. Do I use this season to for Adan's growth and acquire proper CMs in the summer, or do I buy Mata, even though I have Kagawa and more glaring needs. Do I completely changed my tactics just for Mata? If it was Martinez, it would be reasonable, but Moyes Im not too sure. United arent 1 player short, they're a few players short imo.

The thing is if United make a mistake in the transfer market, they dont have the funds to erase it out completely like Chelsea, Madrid, Barca, etc. To me, buying Mata is a commitment similar to what Chelsea made for Torres when they purchased him. Regardless of his form/play style, Torres was always going to play/start because of his fee. Same thing if Mata goes to United, they will force Moyes to play Mata somehow, even if he doesnt fit... So, if it doesnt work, than in the long term it really screws them up and they wont spend/acquire the other pieces they actually need.

Love me them CMs.. Also, Mourinho teams are all built on cms.. People talk about Cristiano being the key to Madrid, but to me, Alonso was just as important as he was.

What? Ive been saying in this whole thread to sell Mata this whole time... to raise funds for other players.. If he goes to United, so be it. However, people think that he would automatically excel there are in for a surprise.

And where would Mata play? On the wings? You mean the same situation Coutinho is in where he has gone awol since the return of both Suarez and Daniel.
