We can't vote during the elections from here either. There was an interesting debate about this on the BBC World Service yesterday and there was a debate that if Scotland were to vote YES then which currency would they use. The issue was that if they stick with the pound then the interest rates set by the Bank of England may not be tailored for the Scottish economy (which really shouldn't be an issue since they've been using the pound for ages). And if they were to pick the Euro then they'd still not be able to influence the interest rates much either since major EU Countries will have more influence in deciding what it is.
