From the Independent. This is worrying. 'Glorious failure' may save Grant as Ten Cate is warned about conduct By Jason Burt Tuesday, 11 March 2008 The pressure is on the Chelsea manager Avram Grant to try to save his job but the role of his assistant, Henk ten Cate, is under equal scrutiny at the club. There has been an angry reaction to the coach's outburst over the weekend when he spoke to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf and accused players of "deliberately leaking stuff" to the British media. Relations between Ten Cate and the players have been strained for some time and that erupted before the Carling Cup final in his row with John Terry over his treatment of midfielder John Obi Mikel and his own selection for the match. Now the Dutchman is understood to have been told, by the club's board, that he must toe the line in future. It adds to the strained atmosphere at Chelsea with Grant effectively on warning that he needs to win either the Premier League or Champions League to save his job. However, "glorious failure" may suffice especially as the owner Roman Abramovich is keen to have the Israeli in place for the start of next season. The Russian billionaire, however, understands that it would be foolish to stick with Grant if results are poor and the manager appears to be out of his depth. However, he will give him every chance of succeeding although the so-called "Dutch faction", which includes Chelsea's head of youth development Frank Arnesen and the unofficial scout Piet de Visser, are believed to be sceptical as to whether Grant can succeed. If he does carry on, there is likely to be a major overhaul of the squad this summer, starting with last year's free signings – Juliano Belletti, Tal Ben Haim and Steve Sidwell – and including Florent Malouda, who cost £13.5m from Lyons, and Carlo Cudicini. The futures of Frank Lampard, with one year left on his contract, and Didier Drogba are also in some doubt, as both are "big personalities" in a dressing room that may need to change. Grant may also try to bring in an Israeli coach to work alongside him. The two names mentioned by sources are Eyal Lachman and Ronny Levy. Lachman works for the Ghanaian club champions, Hearts of Oak, and it is thought that he has already done some scouting for Chelsea. Levy is with the Israeli club Maccabi Haifa. Let Ten Cates take the blame, and get in another useless Jew. Brilliant. At this rate I'm going to be seeing more of Bristol City

They say it gets darkest before the dawn, but if this is true, its beyond a fucking joke now ! From The Independent; 'Grant may also try to bring in an Israeli coach to work alongside him. The two names mentioned by sources are Eyal Lachman and Ronny Levy.' Its in the Guardian as well; 'Grant would like to bring in another coach this summer, one from his native Israel'

La Liga - Blues eye La Liga defender Eurosport - Tue, 11 Mar 10:53:00 2008 Chelsea are reported to have lodged a bid for Uruguay international defender Martin Caceres, who is currently on a season-long loan at Recreativo Huelva from Villarreal. More Stories La Liga fixtures and resultsLa Liga tableThe 20-year-old centre half signed for Villarreal last year on a five-year contract after impressing in the World Youth Cup and they opted to send him on loan to help him adapt to life in Spain. But Caceres' form has already interested some of Europe's big guns, with Real Madrid and Chelsea said to waiting in the wings. Real made an enquiry, but before they had a chance to take it further Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly stepped in with a 10 million euros (£7.6 million) bid, which was rejected by Villarreal. Caceres's current buy-out clause stands at 20 million euros (£15.2 million) which neither Chelsea or Real are likely to go to, but the Premier League side have not given up and are keeping tabs on the player.

Ahh that valuable post. Who's currently fulfilling that role ? Abramovich has had the wool pulled over his eyes with Grants appointment, I expect Kenyon and Buck are whispering in his ear now, but they're just as implcated in this shambles.
-
As soon as he was 'Director of Football' Mourinho was a dead man walking. Now hes wasted our time, our money, the clubs time, Abramovichs and possibly some Chelsea careers. A case for the restoration of the death penalty if ever there was one.

Interesting that it was on Chelsea TV, thats the sort of thing the club would normally hide. Perhaps they want to halt the terminal decline, but get the fans to do the business for them. -
Please fuck off, Avi, I'm getting shit jokes in work now. Like -what do Prince harry and Barnsley have in common ? They both fucked Chelsey over the weekend.
-
No! I hate losing frenz. Ahh Derby. Meticulous preparation and constant note writing and changes as the game progresses ? Nah thats for Portuguese losers. If we go a goal down, frowning and head scratching does the trick, and hoping Clarkey sorts it out. But that wont happen against Derby. I'm looking forward to Grant stumbling up off the bench, trying to clench his fist in celebration, looking vaguely self conscious, in that Matalan black shirt as we beat Derby senseless.

Nah, I can see it catching on amongst the chinks and corporates. Can i say chinks ? just did. Its a toss up between that and ''You're going home in a fucking ambulance''.
-
''Job done Arfur''
-
Mind you Bates with his electric fence -...maybe if we had electric seats now it'd get some of the comatose fuckers on their feet....
-
''Beat the scooz'' ''Guns are stupd's'' and ''And devils soocks''. Brilliant . Nice and catchy.
-
Ha HA Ha -tea over keyboard moment. Grants Press Conference. Simon Green berg, Buck, Kenyon . ''He will take us to a new level, exciting football'' Oh no... I smell Cracker
-
..scribbling and dribbling. About how I'm an ex SS Grupenfuhrher.
-
Or any one from the Beano Frank Spencer and him would be better
-
Too true, if this was Mourinho, Sky would be crowing about his imminent departure, ''Roman Not happy'' stories etc. Jews in the media mate. Alright Cracker luv ?
-
Its almost anyone though. Theres probably about 8-10 on this forum I'd rather have there than Grant. I'd rather even have Mark Lawrenson (ex scouser but better football knowledge), Steve Claridge, Kerry Dixon, Dave Webb, Ray Wilkins, probably between 1-2million people other than Grant.
-
You'd think so. But I'm starting to think Abramovich is more interested in playing with his 5 yachts and knobbing his model friend. Which is fine if he leaves the club running to a long term competent manager, but he cant half heartedly interfere from telling Essien how to tackle to having an ears and mouth called Grant. Grant I reckon is a political appointment now. He was 'introduced' to Abramovich in Israel. Its part of trying to raise Israels profile. Dodgy countries in the past -South Africa, Zimbabwe, use sport as the main market to lift their profile. (Fuckin' ell just realised that nut Cracker is going to post now Yeah same mate, I never thought I'd see the day when I hope we dont win a trophy. Weird.
-
Ahh, next Summer. Grant takes the squad on the latest Disney/Kentucky Fried Chicken 'Hands Accross the Ocean' tour to Florida to play three games in the 'Toy Story Velodrome' against Tampa Bay Pizza Boys, Everglade Diet Coke Rangers, and Miami Burger Queens. All in the interest of 'Grass Roots Football' Cant wait.
-
I was hoping during the pitch invasion at the end and the ensuing chaos , someone would slit Grants throat like in Eastern Promises.
-
Eternal optimism I think Grants appointment has an Israeli/Russian twist that we know little about. Its all about trying to lift Israels profile high in the ouside world, and Chelsea are the parasite host, and Abramovich is/was under pressure from Israeli government sources. Just a thought Bottom line. Cunts a waste of space.
-
Should definitely take that if true -Pizarro, Sidwell, Ben Haim, Shevchenko should go in the fire sale.
