  1. The word 'soccer' isn't only used in America. A lot of the time its used here in Ireland and I'm led to believe in Australia too.
  2. It's football. Without doubt. Most of those other sports mentioned are popular, just not to the extent of football. As for cricket and rugby, the only countries that really play or are successful in them are ex-colonies of the British Empire, or so it would seem anyway.
  3. Didn't watch this one myself, but Scotland beat Wales 3-1 in the Carling Nations Cup with goals coming from Morrison, Miller and Berra.
  4. Simon Cox, like Stephen Ward, scores on his debut putting the Republic of Ireland five in front.
  5. Keane scores once again, through a penalty this time. Northern Ireland now down to 10 men with Adam Thompson getting a red card.
  6. It's just before half time and Craig Cathcart gets an own goal. Half time: Republic of Ireland 3-0 Northern Ireland
  7. Well, there are only over 200 NI fans and Ireland have yet to be anywhere near filling it when it comes to football as well.
  8. Stephen Ward gets a goal on his international debut to open the scoring for the Republic.
  9. I'm not entirely sure. I assumed it was because many people involved in football in Northern Ireland, including Nigel Worthington and most likely the supporters too, don't like that players from Northern Ireland can choose to play for the Republic if they want because they can have an Irish passport. But from what I've read it's to do with some 'travel restrictions'. I'm pretty sure I heard on Sky Sports News earlier that they're expecting about 50 for the Northern Ireland-Wales game!
  10. Apparently the official supporters group are boycotting it and they expect only like 200 to come down.
  11. After three and a half months, the Carling Nations Cup is back, re-opening with the Republic of Ireland playing Northern Ireland. The teams for tonight are most likely to be: Republic Of Ireland (fai.ie) Given; McShane, Delaney, Kelly, Wilson, Lawrence/Coleman, Andrews, Fahey/Foley, Treacy; Keane, Cox. Northern Ireland (irishfa.com) Blayney; Thompson, Cathcart, McAuley, Hodson; Carson, Clingan, Davis, Gorman; Feeney, McQuoid
  12. Stoke City - Home and Goalkeeper
  13. Unbelievable. I was one of those who were behind him in staying, so even one more season would have meant something. Having said that, he has brought us some great success in his time here so thanks for everything Carlo, and good luck in whatever you do in future!
  14. St. Mirren - Home and Away Fulham - Away Fulham - Goalkeeper
  15. RESULTS Gaelic Football Connacht Leitrim 1-10 Sligo 0-10 Leinster Laois 0-10 Longford 0-9 Kildare 0-12 Wicklow 0-5 Munster Kerry 2-16 Tipperary 0-11 Cork 1-23 Clare 0-11 Ulster Derry 1-18 Fermanagh 1-10 Hurling Leinster Westmeath 4-10 Carlow 1-14 I was at the match between Kildare and Wicklow and despite a 7 point winning margin, it wasn't a great game. John Doyle, who played in midfield today, was reliable as always for Kildare though. Meath up next in the Leinster quarter final on June 5th.
  16. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is too. It says parody in the description and from what I can see, most of those tweets do not look like they're in Portuguese either.
  17. I was at the match against Cork, really hoping Roscommon could pull off a shock but it wasn't to be. The crowd you brought that day was immense though! I'm pretty sure there was a banner in tribute to Dermot Earley Snr too, which was a nice touch. The Kildare footballers play Wicklow tomorrow, with Laois playing Longford beforehand. Kildare should win, but it could be tough with the few injuries we have. Looking forward to it. I'll be missing the Chelsea match unfortunately, but hopefully both teams win!
  18. Worst possible start to the TC Premier League, losing 4-0 to UpTheChels. My captain also got injured. I'll seriously need to sort things out if I'm to have any chance against The Officials.
