4th domestic cup final loss in a row (5 if you count CS). Damn I hate 2nd places. Back in the Old Guard days we won 4 FA Cups in 6 years and only lost one out of 7 domestic finals between 2005 and 2012 IIRC The circumstances have been extremely unlucky tho. We have not scored in a Wembley final since Pulisic's goal vs Arsenal... In the roughly 5 hours of domestic final football since that goal, we scored 6(!) ruled out by VAR. 2 of which I think were perfectly legit and would have changed everything.

Great to have the ethically most suspect bid withdrawn. If it was not bc of the fan pressure it is even better cos this probably means it also would have been a bad deal for the club economically. That record is dodgy as hell for various reasons. In the golden boot race, goals in portugal only count with factor 1.5 so i don't really see those 32 goals in 18/19 Liga Dross measuring up. Moreover, both Penandes and Nkunku were at times deployed as forwards (for penandes that is the case in portugal and england) , so not sure you can count them unequivocally as midfielders unlike Lampard for whom the case is clear. I mean most goals from midfield in a season is not even an official statistical record anyway but for me those goals have to be actually scored by a player who plays that season in midfield (duh). So that Lampard record still looks pretty much intact for me. Most number 10s who score high numbers are deployed well higher up the pitch than Lampard which is why his record is so remarkable. If you count no10/forward hybrid roles like Penandes and Nkunku and also count shit leagues, Zico would be the clear record holder, scored more than 40 goals for flamengo in the 70ies in multiple seasons.

Two final thoughts: how good has tavernier been for rangers? A fullback with a goal every 4 games is incredible esp as his goal rate is even higher in Europa league. Shame he is already 30. Could come back to England easily tho. Really cracked me up when that guy from Rotterdam who scored in incompetence league celebrated with the ‘see my name’ gesture holding his shirt into the camera. At least the half dozen neutrals watching that game know now lol

Frankfurt have had their team dismantled by bigger clubs year for year and still turn up for one of their biggest ever games at the camp nou here in the city, SGE means a lot for the community, most fans are die hard locals. the stadium is the loudest and most atmospheric in Germany by far. In big games this passion translates onto the pitch and makes games like this possible
