  1. well being 6 foot you will be wanting to eat lots! when i was about 17ish i was 5ft 7/8 and weighed in my 50kgs, proper scrawny little shit. as soon as i joined the gym and started doing a few weights, my appetite naturally increased and thats how i put on weight. i promise if you start lifting weights you will start eating more and you will gain weight in a healthy way, you'll just naturally crave more substantial foods.
  2. nice. did my back bis traps and abs yesterday, aching like a bitch this morning. Im doing my chest shoulders and tris today, this will be my routine: Bench 2x10 at 80kg and 1x6-8 at 90kg. Shoulder press (machine - dodgy shoulder) - 3x8 at 55/60kg dumbell press, 27.5kg in each had: 2x10. Then 1x8 of 30kg in each hand. 3 sets of 10kg lat raises may do some front raises as well - depends on time and how well i feel my anterior has been worked (will be 3x10 of 10kg if i do) Then cable pull downs 2x10 70kg (weight is a lie, its a cable, makes it nice and easy!) 1x10 eccentric contractions on each arm. then go home, go to work, wake up feel the ache and play football with it. BEAUTY! naaaaaaaahhhhh bro. dont put on fat. once you put it on its hard to lose! just start lifting rocks! lifitng yourself! 58kg for someone over 6ft is crazy low. just start eating a bit more - im guessing youre just a teenager going through a bit of a spurt. How old are you?
  3. I currently live in the south west of England, and during the summer a lot of polish guys come over to work on some of the farms picking peas etc. they only stay for the summer i think so i guess its a good break. fuck all to do where i live though! I also know an Estonian girl, I went to the christening of her child not too long ago. I used to live in a village very close to Woking called Byfleet. its all very nice around there, im sure you can find some places for less than £750 a month, depending on your standards. if you share it can be as little as 150 a month. you could get a place to yourself for around 200 a month if you dont mind sleeping next to your toilet. what was your scholarship for?
  4. The only way i would allow that if it wasnt anything painful. like you said mutilated, i hope you dont mean i now have 3 ass holes. and also if i was not in a relationship. id do that. people may laugh at me and take the piss, but the jokes on them because im richer than them, and although money is evil, unfortunately itll allow me to buy a football club. I think Paris Hilton was offered a similar question.
  5. tend to be more wealthier people there. a chelsea game would require you getting a train. im not sure how long it would take. probably 40minutes.
  6. i used to live there when i was younger. its nice. like all places it has its rough areas, but its way more nice than bad compared to other areas.
  7. 10 aint bad! most people said 20-30ish. I said no to scenario one, i couldnt live with it (i was suprised at howm any people said they would do it) to scenario 2 i was a good boy and said 2 people.
  8. haha ok. so your answer to question 2 is.... "i'll do the world a favour by letting billions die?" Seriously, dont make it so complicated. to make it clear, someone will say to you, if you chose to take the bullet, i wont kill X amount of strangers. you have no idea who they are, but you know that these peoples lives were ended. good or bad people. you dont know. How many strangers owuld you let die before you'd say "ok ill take the bullet"?
  9. 2 scenarios some friends and I were discussing: Scenario 1: If somebody offered you £20million to kill someone would you do it? Terms: nobody would ever find out about it.The person you kill will be someone you recognise, but dont really know. so you would know their name, even say hi in the street, but thats about as far as the relationship goes.1 shot to the head, the person would beg for their life for 30 seconds before you are allowed to shoot them.for £20million, what say you? Scenario 2: How many strangers do you value your life at? e.g. how many people would you let die before you'd say take to your life. So, someone says either you die OR X amount of strangers die. what would X have to be for you to say "take my life". enjoy.
  10. The south is England is great. Chichester area is great as its not far from Londong, Brighton, Southampton and Portsmouth (avoid Portsmouth). You can easily live off that money you would get paid, but I'd question the job and how legit it is. I recently saw a documentary of people offering jobs to people in eastern europe to come work in England and they will help you on to your feet (give you a place to live and help you work) and then rape you and steal all your money.... So if you dont want to get raped phyiscally and finacially make sure the people that are hiring you are legit. If its a company saying you will live on sight and care for these people and it is all legit, then why not. even if you do it for only a couple of years, its an experience. Its not an easy job, i haven't personally worked as a carer, but i know some people who have, and it can be very hard and stressful. as you will be on sight i expect you will have a lot of night shift jobs so sleep may become a luxury! make sure you do your fair share of asking questions to find out what is expected of you and where you will be based, dont leave it to a lucky dip! good luck.
  11. but what if i do all my stretches? will I be 6ft then? I'll even do the shoulder stretches!!!!
  12. Today is going to be the first day of my bulking up period! Im about 5ft 7 at the moment weighing in at 63-64kg (around 10 stone). The last time i bulked up like this i got a fat belly because i loved the cheese! I used to weigh 58kgs, put on around 5kg in a period of about 3 months and since then i have just been maintaining that. and during that maintenance i gradually put on 1kg (over a long period of time, about a year i think) whilst i improved my CV. I currently do 3 weight sessions a week which i shall now increase to five which i shall do for about 2 weeks before organising some 2 a day workouts to add in some fat burn sessions as well as extra resistance. I wont be taking any supplements or anything, im in no rush to gain this weight - im looking to weigh ~68kg by the end of the summer, so thats 4 months. I'll try update this at the end of each week to let you now how im doing. im going to take photos as well for a start and finish so i can see my improvements like others suggested. and hopefully my girlfriend will appreciate how buff ill look!
  13. Same story here! Im 22 now and i went through my teens loving football but never really getting to play and im so average! but i love playing. I used to be a goal keeper, but i stopped growing when i reached 5ft 8... so had to adapt to going outfield when i was around 12 years old. and because i wasnt as good as the other kids i never got the encouragement and i quickly stopped palying for local clubs because i was exlcuded. I think some guidelines and training to get younger kids in to football need to be arranged. itll help increase the odds of us finding good footballers in the future. loads of people who are good at certain sports end up doing other sports due to exclusion and what not.
  14. I totally see you where you are coming form but i don't think its THAT bad. I agree that the league has become money driven, but i think thats because its been a huge buisness for the last decade. BUT its not going to deterate. you mentioned Italy spending big... but this league is hte best in the world, has been for a long time and will continue to be. I had a conversation the other day with a mate who was claiming the english league is going down the pan because of how early the english teams went out the champions league....... awful arguement. I wouldnt worry about the league - it will always be over priced and full of foreign super stars until some wage I think international football is going to be a problem for a while. I dont understand whats happened (i dont understand how we are so high in the rankings) i think we do have some decent youth coming up and they can be world class players. but we should have more. In recent years i think our youth systems have been heavily invested in by the FA and we should hopefully see the benefits of that in 10 years time. I think we need to go lower than youth academys within clubs. i worked with some 8 and 9 year olds at a local club for about 8 months last year, and although its supported by the FA i think some guidelines and targets should be handed out by the FA for these kind of clubs. These guys are 8 years old and i personally think the most important at that age is to build interest in the sport. keep hte kids happy, make it enjoyable and increase the chances of them continuing playing football in to their teens. after about 2 months of being there i realised hte guy running it wasnt thinking that way, he was harsh, mean and gave them complicated tactics for games. if they lost they were told off, dropped from the squad and id often see people and hear of kids not enjoying themselves and quitting which is a shame. you can clearly spot a talent at that age, and the kids noramlly dont even realise, so its important to keep them interested to give them the oppurtunity to develop and stay in the sport. On this topic i would advise you all going to jsut helping out at your local young football club. its rewarding and now im reminising about it i think ill start it up again. I tried my best to get the kids to laugh and have fun whenever i had them, and to get thanks from parents is very rewarding. I think the recent investments in youth will pay off, but i think the plans and investment should go even lower to these local clubs. On Luke Shaw, from what ive seen its hard to deny his talent. He looked great against liverpool as well. Southampton have always been good at developing young players... All those players you listed like cleverly and wilshere are still young. they will become great players for their nation
  15. man tough course! I study Sport, Exercise and Health science. its a 3 year degree and im very nearly finished. just got 1 exam and a few bits of work to hand in then im done! ive had to do a couple of modules on biochemistry, not in as much detail as you probably will, but its really interesting and hard! In terms of practicals, this course has been really good. although most of your time is spent sat in a lecture theatre being told about sutff, we get to do a lot of lab stuff, testing people, seeing how hte body reacts to different types of exercise, seeing what different supplements do. its pretty cool and if you are a subject you get to see your own fitness. sticking am ask on your face and recording all the O2 and CO2 to see how well you use oxygen and how well you use it an stuff. its pretty cool. getting to take blood samples is pretty cool as wll then whacking it in a machine to get readings of certain substances in the blood. its pretty cool and im sure you'll do stuff like that, especially wiht the blood. the time in the hospital will be cool as well. I also got taught by a guy that worked at CFC. he worked with all the players under ancelotti and designed drills for them. as well as testing them. ive been trying for the last couple of months to get that off him so i can stick it on here, the frank lampard stuff is really quite amazing. but iven ot had any luck. yet! im guessing he's not allowed to give it out, but i will get it!
  16. that 1700 is about right. maybe even lower. Ive never heard of this zig zag method. i dont know wether its one of those websites trying to sell you something, or if is a tip someone has managed to have success with but at the end ofh te day, if you consume less than you spend in terms of kcal, then youre going to lose weight. The most common problem is mis counting calories. and its not your fault, sometimes oyu just forget, or sometimes the packet lies (which is scarily quite common!). You seem to have been doing really well on this so just try and keep it up. maybe increase the frequency of your exercise now, maybe even drop another 100kcal to 1600 a day instead (that seems quite low though). Be sure you havent started to change eating habbits. like eating before bed. i know you can get groggy when only having 1700 kcal and it may be tempting to satisfy your hunger before you sleep. but you really wnat to avoid eating late in the evenings. My advice would be, to think back to when you were losing your weight a few weeks ago, and try and identify anythign you are doing differently now that may be slowing down the process. but my advice would be to pick up an extra session of exercise if you can. it will really help. dont let this stumble scare you though, it could be down to something simple and irrelevant like water retention. or the environment you are in (if its hot or cold) or the time of day that you've been weighing yourself.
  17. At my uni they are doing research on a variety of supplements, (creatine, anti-oxidants or nitrate) the easiest exercise protocol was the nitrate one so i volunteered for that one! got 2 take 2 gel packs a day from monday - wednesday, then just one 1 hour before i do the exercise protocol on thursday. It really is horrific. They sell beetroot shots which gives you more nitrate, tastes bad, but it goes down easier. this gel is just really hard to swallow fast. Nitrate dilates your blood vessels more, so in theory, when you exercise more blood goes there and therefore more oxygen is available to the muscle - helps endurance athletes mostly, i think it can also help in intermittent stuff as it helps with the brief recovery. it also attempts creating world war three at your ass. I've done smelly farts before, but not consistently like this. ever since about 7pm yesterday every fart i have done has been a nightmare. every single one. id say im parping at least once every half an hour. in its peak im guffing once every 5 minutes. It is funny and i can literally run up to a mate, drop it and run. and i do enjoy that aspect of it. but then theres times when im sat in a lecture and my belly is making all sorts of noises because im holding it all in. Also ive had to open a window in my house because it literally smells like the sewers in here. Welldone to metsaj for donating blood. Im yet to do it. scares me! but i think i will eventually get round to doing it. Oh that urine story you told, that reminds me. Last year we did a little study involving urine. so we all walked in and were given lots of different dirnks. at the end of hte session we all pissed in a cup and measured out hydration on those urine charts. One guy had bright blue wee. ive forgotten the name of it, but for a joke they had a bottle which had this stuff in that just makes your wee go bright blue. he was a bit scared till he realised they'd just given him a dodgy drink.
  18. anyone ever taken a nitrate supplement? Im on one at the moment and its disgusting. i know beetroot and rhubarb are where they commonly extract it from.... it tastes horrible. i threw up in my own mouth this morning when taking it. my ass is on fire as well. Im constantly farting and they smell horrific. and my piss smells just like the stuff Im taking. anyone else get those side effects? just farted right now...y up that's AIDS in the form of smell. Christ.
  19. Rafa is to blame for hte poor atmosphere.... the crowd hate him. honestly, the last game i saw was against Nords in the champs league that we won easily, yet still so much hatred for Rafa makign the atmosphere fairly negative overall. Which is ok if we are winning, but when we are losing or drawing, it doesnt help. Also, not many people think about the kids that are there for birthdays and what not. people come from so far away to watch chelsea play and its a really special day to them and the negative atmosphere of recent is ruining it for them. I remember seeing us play Fulham in the carling cup last season (ET and penalties) was a small game, we played a very weak team, yet the atmosphere wasn't too bad. so I dunno what it is. When we played Shakter and won with a last minute Moses header, the atmosphere was rubbish until moses got that last second header. that was when Torres scored and Oscar scored from 40 odd yards out as well, and it was a pretty poor atmosphere. I think its how the team is playing, i remember in that shakter game, we played awful, mis placed passes, losing possesion a lot. there was a 5 minute period before half time where mata and hazard linked up so well with some silky skills, that had the crowd going. so i guess the attractiveness of the football influences it.
  20. First leg is massive in this! like most have said, a big win at home would be ideal! When it first started out, i kind of wasn't too bothered by us winning the europa league, I'd have still liked to, but wasn't bothered. now i find myself wanting us to win it, theres no English teams in the champions league, so we may as well do well in the europa league and get something from europe. Im excited. shame about the long trip and the fixture congestion, but we should be able to handle it.
  21. soreness is quite a major part of my dissertation so ive read so much research on it, and ive tried most methods (conventional ones... im not jumping in a bath of ice cold water thank you very much!) and i have noticed it can reduce it and speed up the recovery so it doesnt last as long, but you can never eliminate it. and even then, there are some sessions where i really push myself, and i get full on 100% muscle soreness even if im doing everything to avoid it. Things i do to reduce it: drink berry juices daily - cherry, blackcurrents, cranberry... stuff with anti-oxidants in, they really do help. I also wear a compression garment during and after exercise. the research shows wearing a compression garment for 12+ hours after is best, but im not going to sit around all day in compression clothing! so i wear it during and for an hour or so after. I consume a very sugary drink as soon as possible after a work out and also try to eat something with at least 10g of protein in asap. those are the things i tend to do based on what ive had to read in the research but to be honest these are just things to stop you from being sore for ages! the rule i follow is to not exercise the same muscle without a 2 day gap in between. even though i may be a bit sore on th third day still, i know for a fact im good to go, ive been fortunate enough to test myself in terms of soreness, strength and power after muscle damage to know im pretty much back to normal after 2 days rest. I also stretch. it does nothing, but it eliminates pain short term. same with exercise. the best way to get rid of muscle soreness is just to exercise! but then as soon as you stop it comes back but a stretch helps if you are in a fair bit of discomfort.
  22. Whats everyones methods with dealing with muscle soreness?
  23. Well im not. In England we have a lot of advertising recently on healthy lifestyles. 90% of the people in the gym i go to are either old people who have been perscribed exercise, people just trying to lose weight, younger people trying to tone up/general fitness. there are a handful of people who go there who are just massive tanks and recently i have noticed a lot of hte rugby club guys using the gym. The gym i go to is one funded by the council etc, It may be a different story at private gyms, but i've not been so i can't say. It may be different in other countries depending on the role of sport/fitness in their societies. Me personally I go just for general fitness. recently ive focused on cardio. as I mentioned earlier, in a couple of weeks time im gonna hit the weights pretty hard to gain 3 or 4 kgs.
  24. a couple of things: how do i access the mobile version of these forums? on my old phone it used to do it automatically, but I upgraded to a better phone and it sticks me on the usual site, which is good, but not as easy to navigate around on a small screen. im sure its easy but i just cant figure it out! have you guys ever considered selling a bit of space to an advertiser? i hate adverts as much as the next person, but you guys need £60 a month, and the donations are good and that, but you could cover the costs with a bit of advertising. maybe one tile on the side (like where it shows you recently liked posts) or a banner on the bottom. as long as its something that doesnt dominate the screen, i dont see why not!? just an idea. hell, you might make yourself a bit of dosh for yourself which you deserve IMO. great site, well constructed and a great community. so thanks and keep it up! thanks to anyone that guides me to the mobile version as well
