Im abit nervous to this. I think he would be a good player to add depth to the squad, but 22m for someone who is adding depth is a bit too much. Its hard for me to comment too much as i dont know that much about him. Do people see us using him more as winger than a striker? for 22m you'd expect him to start 75% of games and im not entirely sure wether he would start that many games... the comments ive read in here suggest that he may not be the kind of player who looks to be starting every game. 22m and KDB on loan is quite a lot. if they are getting KDB on loan, surely we shouldnt have to pay 22m. I'd rather just bring KDB back...

Im enjoying the strength training. Ive been doign a lot of incline and decline stuff, but i just cant seem to isolate my chest. i find when i do bench stuff im possibly feeling it in my shoulders a lot more. so ive resorted to the flys to try and isolate my chest, and it does seem to be working as im getting sore there again. dont know whether to sacrifice a bench exercise (either incline or decline) or to sacrifice a shoulder workout. as i said, i think when i do a bench exercise it really gets to my shoulders, and if im doing 2 different types of bench, its getting my shoulders twice, so i think i might cut out a shoulder press and throw in a fly. ill see how that goes. i stopped doing push ups when istarted this little programme but i might throw in some clap pushups as you suggested and get some power in there. I think im a bit fortunate when it comes to the fat burn. i dont really care for food. i just see it as fuel, rarely for pleasure, so when it comes to cutting out the calories that should be ok. and in terms of exercise, by the time i start, itll be the summer so all my mates will be home and we will (hopefully) be in the sun playing football for hours and hours every day! the weight should drop off! Im looking forward to that! You should start strength training now! you can still lose fat and lift weights! as long as you are eating less calories than you need you will lose weight. if you do strength training and eat protein, you may not increase your muscle mass significantly (it will increase gradually, or at least be maintained) but you will still lose fat and drop some weight. treat yourself! lift!

so its been 1 month and im now at 67.4kg/148.6lbs. (original weight: 63kg/138lbs) thats 0.6kg off my original target (that i planned to achieve in 3 months) however i am fully aware of my increase in body fat as well. specifically on my back and belly which is rather annoying but expected. im not sure wether to carry on doing what im doing, get to maybe 73kg/160lbs which at this rate will take about another 2 months then just lose the fat. or to try and start counting my calories properly instead of just stuffing my face of protein and fat so that i dont put on as much fat. to be honest, i dont have the patience or time to write down what i eat so i think im just gonna keep stuffing my face for another month or so in terms of muscles and strength im seeing some great gains and it feels good! despite my increase in fat, im one of those people who just gets fat in one area, so my shoulders, arms and legs are looking very toned due to the lack of fat on them. ive one area of concern and that was i feel my pecs were started to lag behind and werent really changing much, but with some quick reading around and watching stuff on youtube, its my lack of doing a pec fly exercise, and in the last couple of chest sessions ive done some fly stuff and im certainly feeling it, so hopefully now my chest will start to get a bit bigger... Im just going to carry on doing what im doing, trying to focus on some more chest stuff. cant wait to lose this fat though. its not a massive increase, barely noticeable when i look at pictures of me now and a month ago, but when i pinch the skin there is noticeably more there, and its managed to reduce the definition on my lower abs. so im hoping once i shred the fat ill look pretty gooooooooooooood.

Please Vote For Drogba (Goldenfoot)

Silly Drogba, thats not a car. Its the UEFA Champions League trophy he won whilst playing at Chelsea. Silly Drogba. -
Makes me wonder what would have happened if Torres went down. Its like, they dont want us to dive, yet it was a clear penalty and he didnt get the call because he didnt dive... It was an exciting game, i think Torres should have come on a lot sooner, maybe even at half time. I think Oscar should have come off as well, for Lampard. Its a real shame was so annoying that we didnt beat them! we were hard done by the ref as well. i really hope aguero gets a ban. and i really dont know how torres didnt get a penalty.
-
Torres should have started. he's way more suited to how we are playing at the moment and would be able to offer a lot more than Ba. cracking game, good to see Ramires really fired up and puttign in a good performance. Man City looking more likely to score at the moment, but its a great game!

I was more after a video of it or confirmation of it happening because I didn't see it. not that i was concerned that our team had fallen apart as the media wishes, like i said, i know this kind of things happen all the time, i just wanted to see it As much as i love Mata (and i think we all do) i dont think hes sutied to be a captain. he would need a lot of work on his authority and vocal point, he just doesnt seem like the kind of player to be happy to order people around and have that vocal confidence. Terry, Lamps, Cech are all capable of being vocal. Luiz would be there as well and i do think after hes matrued a bit further he would make a great captain.

read this on a gossip column this morning: Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has shrugged off an argument between Frank Lampard and David Luiz. The pair clashed as they left the pitch at the end of the first half of Chelsea's Europa League tie against Rubin Kazan. full report: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/11/frank-lampard-david-luiz-chelsea anybody see this/have a video of it? i didn't see this at all. I know it happens a lot and it means nothing, just suprising for those two.

haha! classic mix up. Rugby players do it a lot over here as well. think its not down to your every day DOMS though, more for the bruising from impacts.

some do. and of course they would, they aren't training during a season. they only train during pre season/recovery from injuries. when i say train i mean trianing to improve fitness. during the season it is more about maintanance with the intention of some improvements in terms of technical abilities as well as some aspects of fitness, so a speedy recovery would be justified, especially if you are playing twice in one week! you look at a players aerobic and sprinting abilities throughout a season, they stay level throughout the season, sometimes a slow steady increase is seen. I think the ice bath is an option most would avoid though. i would not use the ice bath. i hate being cold!
-
the cold shower thing after is... not twaddle, but not useful during training. It MAY speed up recovery, BUT by doing so it limits your improvements. so best time to use it would be for athletic reasons, say during a tournament or athletics where you are expecting to compete with only 2 - 4 days rest. and when i say it can speed up recovery, theres mostly weak evidence for that. some strong evidence, but mostly weak. some people in the muscle building world say it works for them, the majority of them however say its useless and not worth the discomfort. Ive not seen anything on hot showers, but all i know is when we do research that involves causing muscle damage, we have to tell our subjects to not have long showers as the heat obviously gets the blood going and can possibly speed up recovery that way. but ive not seen anything on that though.

You have the right idea and Shinine has got some good advice. the lower the body fat the easier they are to see. In terms of training them, lots of people have different views on them - some say, its a core muscle, you use it a lot, so train with a high quantity. lots or reps, lots of sets, and trian it quite often. others, and my personally say "treat it like you treat any other muscle for hypertrophy" 3, maybe 4 sets of 8-12 reps. this means some pretty heavy resistance. your 12th rep of a sit up or whatever should be yourl ast, you should not be able to physically complete 13 reps. i perosnally do a lot of leg crunches whilst hanging from a pull up bar or somethign using a full range of motion. I hold medicine balls/weights above my head and crunch (straight on and to the sides). I do a lot of controlled stuff (do a full sit up with a weight, on the way down, stop half way, then continue and stop half way again and repeat). i just aim for things that are hard enough to make me unable to complete over 12 reps and do 3 or 4 sets - I get some serious muscle soreness in my abs the day after just like i do when i work other muscles, so thats a good enough indication to me that its doing the job. i do my abs 3 times a week and been going pretty hard for the last 2 or 3 weeks and im seeing some great changes. still early days, but im feeling better than i did when i used to do some shitty ab workouts in high sets and reps. just go around on youtube and see what others do, and eventually you will get your own workout thats right for you. no harm in trying them all!

it's pleasant to see so much success in here at the moment!

sounds like a tough jog! got my weight: day 0: 63kg/138lbs day 15: 66.6kg/146lbs very happy with that. however day 0 weight was taken in the morning after a wee, day 15 weight was taking at 4pm after a wee and a dump so i expect it to be a bit lower.
-
Its day 14, I am unable to weigh myself due to some broken scales which is really annoying. Ive taken photos and, even though its hard to compare properly, comapred to day 0, ive got bigger arms, shoulders back and my abdominals are clearer. my forearms have probably seen the most benefits. ive started deadlifting and squatting. im happy with the deadlift, its actually quite an enjoyable exercise, and i think thats really helping me. Squats are proving to be a bit harder. getting the technique right is something i still need to work out. have only had 2 squat sessions though and hopefully with time ill nail it and start to increase the weight as im more confident. I think my leg workout is hte weakest part of my workout, so im going to keep a similar routine for the next 2 weeks, but on legs day, change it around a bit and throw in some calf exercises to try get more out of it. I shall try and get my self weighed over the weekend and let you guys no if there is any difference there! keep fit!

The penalty was harsh, but hte yellow card was entirely wrong as it suggests intent. fucking bullshit. hopefully we dont let them attack and we apply some pressure and get another goal to shut them up.

N Korea have moved mid range missiles to their east coast: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-22027867 apparently they can only reach Alaska... or i guess they would also be able to target the ships that the US have reportedly moved there. stupid north korea.

Voted for Leif. i get plenty of giggles out of a lot of his posts. and i love a giggle me. love a giggle.

This is all very confusing. I have only just recently taken interest in this because it seems to be making the headlines of credible news sources There is a chance this could end horribly. I dont understand N. Korea, i dont know whether they are trying to flex their muscles or something to show their citezens how powerful of a nation they are, or they are seriously considering war. If they do decide to launch an attack (which is clearly not wise or the logical thing to do, but their leader seems a very dillusional person) it leaves whoever they attack (and their allies) in a horrible situation. the people that live in N.Korea seem to be treated horribly. sorry if thats offensive or wrong, i admit, my knowledge of this just comes from the odd random story on the internet etc, so to have to go to war against what are innocent people because of the decisions of one deluded leader would be horrible. OR N. Korea keep given it all that and shouting "U WOT M8!" across the pond and eventually someone gets fed up and decides to attempt to take out their leader to free the citizens, then other nations disagree with the actions (which is probably unlikely, im not sure N. Korea even have any allies...). but for the US to be moving defensive missile systems in place, it suggests they are not taking any chances. on another note, what would happen if they did go to war? clearly USA or whoever would just take out their leader (i dont remember his name, this is why i keep referring to him as "their leader"!) then what? would they just hand it over to the south koreans (and PSY). i wouldnt see anything wrong with that, but i imagine its not that simple.

its just a money making friendly. i dont think theres any harm in this. and hopefully it will just be a fun game, unless we come 5th and its a really depressing game. i dont see any problem with this. Lukaku will smash it.

I need help. I can't stop procrastinating. I have a lot of work to be doing and a hell of a lot of time to do it. i have 5 weeks to do 2 assignments and revise for an exam. I have all day of everyday. I know what I have to do. Even if i managed 5 hours a day of work all of this would be done in no time and it would be a great quality. I cant do it though. Ive watched the lion king all the way through 5 times this week. Ive watched a couple of other films, ive been on thei nternet literally doing nothing. just going through the same stuff. I know what i have to do, but i literally refuse to do it. the thing is, i need my computer to do the work, its how i have access to the library, even then, i need to write my assignment on it. I would even resort to doing it by hand, then that just gives me a case of writing it up which is a simple task, but like i said, i will ahve to use my computer for references and to make sure im not talking crap. this is really big as well. if i mess these up i come out of university with a useless 2:2 degree, three years of my life and £15,000 spent. These are the last things i ahve to do. and keep telling myself its all ive got left, once they are done, thats it, no more work! but its not enough to keep me going. i noticed this at the beggning of this year, and as its got on ive got worse. i just need some motivation and a kick up the arse. I literally spend my time doing nothing. i just sat on the sofa the other day for about an hour and a half in silence, just to avoid my work. i need tips to what i can do. i know i can sit in a room with no distractions, but my computer will just be the distraction. i need some motivation. anyone who has experienced anythign similar that has any tips would be muchly appreciated.

To be honest im not really taking it too seriously. my goal is to reach 68kg (i was 63kg on day 0) by June. im expecting to be able to easily achieve that and i hope to hit 70kg. but i want at least 68. after that im going to regain some cardio and to motivate myself for that im entering a local 10 mile race in July where i hope to place in a competative postion, not just run it for the sake of it. I want to make sure its muscle as well. diet is pretty hard, but im not too worried about gaining a bit of fat (as long as its not too much!) as i would expect to lose that during the cardio training. So im basically taking it easy, no real intense targets, i know im going to be motivated to keep it up. 5 resistance training a week is more than enough, trying to eat as well as i can and just having fun. its been 7 days. im not going to weigh myself till day 14 though and im not taking pictures again till day 14.

Congrats man! your progress as truely been impressive. I wouldnt worry too much about body fat. every single way you measure it is open to a lot of error. just keep a visual eye on it and pinch your skin every now and then. thats what i do now. when i had access to all the half decent machines my body fat varied from 8% - 18% so its not exactly accurate. and you are suppose to give around 5% either side of each reading for error.... when i leanrt how to do the skin folds, i just pinch my self in those locations and get a feel for whats going on. its in no way accurate because there is no measurement, but it gives me a rough idea. Im on day 7 of the bulk up phase at the moment and im feeling good. by good i mean i have a constant ache. but its a good ache. that ache that makes you feel like you;ve achieved something. Im going to do the same thing next week before i start substituting some workouts for othersand adding dead lifts. its good, because all ive actually done is take out 2 cardio sessions from my old routine and replaced them with weight sessions. so im doing 5 weight sessions a week at the moment and 2 cardio/playing football. and im feeling good nad confident of progress.

yeah it was good. all friendly chat. she wasnt angry like her comments were. as soon as i walked in she was all "oh hey, hope you werent frightened by all the comments" to which i replied "I cried myself to sleep" that got a laugh and it was all jokes and games from there onwards. got some good info. it was a success. got a fucking tit load of work to do though and i dont know how im going to find the motivation to do it >.<
