  1. a £17m gamble? Zorres showed flashes of his old self. Chelsea is desperate to unload him (or at least, the fans are). Could be the deal of the century, if he gets back to his Liverpool level (which obviously, nobody really believes he will).
  2. notice the attacking run also: Oscar has only a split second to notice the run, calculate the direction and weight of the pass and decide to play it
  3. indeed, that's where he ought to play, where he's involved as much as possible and can have the biggest impact on the game. Only when he plays on the 10 will we really be "building the team around him".
  4. I think Mata can play as the n° 10 in a 4-3-3 with two controlling midfielders behind him: Cech Azpi Terry Luiz Cole Ramires Oscar Mata De Bruyne Hazard Lukaku In this system, the wingers do have a lot of defenisve work though which is counterproductive for Hazard. Also, you could swap Oscar with a more defensively minded player when necessary (and perhaps even with De Bruyne). De Bruyne, Lampard, Hazard and Oscar can also play on the n°10 (Mata's position). Ideally, I would like to see them play with a 4-3-3 with only one (beast of a) defensive midfielder: Cech Azpi Terry Luiz Cole <insert beast here> Ramires Oscar Mata Hazard Lukaku But this is, of course, a very offensive system.
  5. "I am where I want to be." "This is MY job."
  6. I'm happy for him, hope that he gets a genuine chance - you know, like Torres who could suck for 20 games in a row and was still given confidence to play the next match. Unlike most of our youngsters who get torched after one disappointing performance when they come on for their first 20 minutes of the season.
  7. I think it's probably for the best, Cech is still number 1 at the moment.
  8. I wouldn't mind him coming, he could easily score 30 goals every season for us.
  9. Cech is a monument indeed, but so is Casillas. It will be interesting to see what the Special One thinks about the goalie situation.
  10. Rotating goalkeepers doesn't work in my opinion. One has to be top dog, and know it. Otherwise it's Always trouble. So for me the question comes down to either Courtois, either Cech. I would let Courtois develop one more year (loan to Atletico or another team) and then let him take over next year, when he is even more of a beast then he is now.
  11. Good luck to Rafa. He came in under difficult circumstances and secured third place and won a european trophy. Job well done.
  12. 2 individual mistakes cost us the game. The first one, Cahill should have closed down his man. What was that? He gave Adebayor almost 7 foot. Second: Luiz doesn't pick up his man and follow him, he was just ball-watching. Which was a shame because uptil then, he was my man of the match. A real fighter in midfield, just what we needed.
  13. I'm in Chile for work. Hope that the Irish pub broadcasts the game otherwise I'm condemned to crappy streams again. Hope that we throw the spurs out of the CL-ticket race today. Feeling confident about this one.
  14. that is NOT Torres behind that mask.
  15. "Give a man a mask and he will show you his true face". Imagine, just for a moment, that all his past fuck-ups are "only" psychological after all... That, in his next team, he would be faster, and sharper, and clinical in his finishing once again. Wouldn't that be something? When you see him play the last 2 games, I think it's better than his previous spells of slightly better football. He actually seems more determined, more keen to get in dangerous areas, to take players on,... Don't know if he'll ever get back to the player he was, I strongly doubt it considering the physical knee problem, but still, I find the idea that it was all "in his head" rather stunning. And the fact that he can play fast and sharp for even one match indicates that the problem is not merely a physical one (if your knee is bust, it's always bust, and not suddenly better for only one match ).
  16. Of course he would have. He would have stopped it blindfolded. Drugged. With his hands tied around his back.
  17. Belgian media report that Chelsea is very pleased of Kevin's performances this year. It is unclear if he will play for the Blues next year, because there is still doubt as to who will be the next Chelsea manager. However, they deem him ready for Chelsea's A Squad. If KDB does not return to Chelsea next season, he will be loaned out to a club that plays European football; preferably CL, but possibly also Europa league. Rumours are that both Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have declared their interest in the player. As Chelsea are looking to add striker power to their squad, a move of KDB could facilitate the transfer of either Dortmund's Lewandowski or Leverkusen's Schurrle. Kevin himself doesn't mind where he plays, as long as he gets plenty of matches: he has his eye on the WC in Brazil.
  18. excellent win! Ba once again showed that playing with a striker actually pays off! MOTM for me. Cech brilliant too, best save of the season! Defensive I still think we look vulnerable though.
  19. I don't think Hazard needs to be rested atm, should keep the momentum going
