Diego Kwsta reacted to Henrique in The Mourinho Thread
To be honest I think in all the 7 defeats this season, during match thread, people who are here saying we played a good match yesteday were alwasy saying "brilliant football" before the opponent started scoring goals.
Football yesteday was pretty bad. For the 1st half the team played a decent football, but not for a team that is 16th in the table. Team lacked urgency and intensity, when you are in this situation you MUST win, its not like the team is sitting confortably on top of the word. Imagine you are playing a UCL semi-final, and just lost the first game and must win the match, thats not the kind of football you are expected to play.
Second half Stoke scored early. Team kept playing that lazy football, like they were winning the game. Only after 20 minutes into the second half, when Fabregas and Oscar, and later Remy, were introduced, the team started to really press Stoke, but anyone who can read the game understand the guys were playing with zero tactical plan.
What we saw was Fabregas, William and specially Hazard trying to save the game by their own. Team pressed the panic button, and adopted a high pressure defensive style and Stoke couldn't create anything. The team almost scored, but the best chances were created when the team were playing without tactics and discipline, it was just a bunch of good footballers trying to score a goal.
I asked myself why the team can't start the game doing high pressure and huge intensity. A team like Stoke would suffer a lot playing against a side playing like that. What we saw yesterday has been happening since 2013, team start slow, lacks intensity, and when realize they MUST score a goal there is no tactical plan at all, just pressing random button, think about that PSG game when Mourinho introduced Torres, Etoo, Ba at the same time, and few were created from that, but its not always that you get a lucky goal like that.
To be honest football from yesterday was pretty much the same as what we saw during many matches last season, but there is a big difference: last season the team was top of the league because of individual brilliance coming from attacking players, specially Hazard, who won at least 15 points by his own, but this season his football became pretty awful, despite what many people are saying, he was really really really nad yesterday. Yesterday he was actually trying and trying to do something, unlike other games were he was hidding, but at the end of the day he was creating few chances and making terrible decisions and killing attacking options, and was trying to play alone in the last minutes.
Perhaps people in this forum who are stunned about the current situation should go back in this thread, because since months ago many members here pointed about the problems in this teams, but many just dismissed those complains and were changing the name of this topic to "Moaning Thread", or pointing the team was top of the league.
Success is dangerous because it usually makes you hide your problems. For a long term success you must keep changing, but the moment the manager believes there is nothing to learn from others.

No I don't I don't even have anything about Mourinho either, I am just a rational fan who isn't weighed down by sentimental and wants to see the team doing well, and if that means sacking our best ever manager then so be it.

The team's play was shit and it is not down for the lack of trying/effort but cluelessness, obviously that is the manager's fault.

For me it's because our manager is too arrogant and refusing to accept any blame, coupled with outdated tactics and a lack of rotation and youth integration, along with plenty of controversy on/off the pitch
All of that takes its toll. It seems like the players no longer enjoy playing under Mou - rightly or wrongly - you need the players to want it.
I have no doubt that an 'average' manager can get us winning again very quickly.
It is a sad time - but Mou has brought this on himself - I honestly do believe that.
Yes Matic was stupid to get sent off - but let's look at that situation, he was publicly condemned - had a good game and felt under pressure to perform - so he tried too hard and got sent off. Thats an example of Jose's mind games backfiring. I just wouldn't want to work with a manager like him - ever.

Remember that Jovetic missed the whole season because of injuries and Aguero missed like half the season because of injuries. Also, both those strikers are not the classic center forward type, wich means that they can play in more positions like cam or on the wings so that means more playing time. And dont forget that for the past 2 seasons Dzeko was whining for not starting.
It's not easy to have so many wolrd class players for such few positions.

I get your point..What I'm saying it's that it's difficult to have so many good players for 1 position.
Well it is true that Costa will be the number one guy and everybody knows that, you need to feel the essence of the transfer.Everybody else will be second choice.
Also Im not sure that Lavezzi is as good a striker as he is a winger/inside forward....And Firmino???Really???

City play with 2 strikers so they need 1 backup for each. we play with one striker so one back up is enough.
One example is Real Madrid, they played with one striker when they had either Benzema or Higuain on the bench. you don't really need 3 world class center forwards in your team. you need one.

A guy who doesn't want competition will never make it in life.....I was a huge fan of Romelu, just as a lot of you I supose, but I lost my faith in him.The guy hasnt done anything to prove that he is ready,he cant back up his words in the pitch and thats something that we'll have to think about.Do you really want a guy who want everything on a silver platter?

It's obvious he wants to leave, he only has two years left on his contract so he holds all the cards, unfortunately. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not willing to play second fiddle. If we decide to keep him for another year and he still doesn't sign a new contract than he will go for peanuts, in this ffp era we cannot afford to let that happen.

Diego Kwsta reacted to The only place to be in 🇨🇮 Didier Drogba
Drogba as a target man is still actually a decent player. If we're chasing a game and Costa isn't working then bringing on Lukaku, who is a very similar player who is surprisingly poor in the air, isn't going to change the way we attack the game especially.
It's why I liked the idea of us getting Mandzukic because tactically, he actually alters what we do.
If we're playing that match against West Ham at home last season who do you want to bring on? Lukaku or Drogba? Who do you want to pump crosses into because there's no space behind their defences to run into (Lukaku's main strength)? Who do you want a ball to fall to be it on the right, left or even a headed chance?
As for the mentoring of Lukaku/right-click-TUTOR idea, we have about 60 players at this club, as well as world-class coaches, PR men etc. Why does it have to be Drogba who tells Lukaku to keep his mouth shut, don't ask for transfers away from massive clubs and focus on playing football?
