Jose trusts Essien to fill in at fullback if we need to play him there! as he done a good job there last season for Madrid! and for all you know we may be bringing someone else in!

im talking about as a number 9! he knows he hasn't got the pace or explosiveness to play there, he is clearly more comfortable playing as a number 10, Rooney is not the player i would want to see leading the line for Chelsea! imo he doesn't have it in him to be a successful out and out striker any more!

difference is Costa is starting to fulfil his potential and Rooney is on the decline! and also Rooney is not even a striker any more! he is moving in the other direction, he is a number 10 who is starting to fill in at CM! strikers have for whatever reason struggled here for years, a player like Rooney who doesn't even play as a striker week in week out would almost certainly struggle as well!
