Right now we are strongly linked to 2 players, walcott and falcao, and if it comes down to it, he may be expensive but there are not many better than him, and it would move us forward more so than just torres.

If falcao was up front we would be in and probably would have won the CWC, how much value would you place on that etc. Lewandowski could definitely do that and although i doubt its completely true apparently he would cost less than 20 mil, making him much better value for money, but this isn't fifa and he looks like going to united and if he wants to go elsewhere theres not much we can do about it.

We don't need him to because we are not as heavily relieant upon 1 man for goals which is surely a good thing. I am not really too bothered about who scores if it is winning us games and having a prolific striker would take alot of the burden of our midfield. We need a striker who will convert the chances we will create for him, and falcao would be able to do that.

Whether having falcao would reduce the amount of goals lampy has doesn't really matter because he is not here yet, and for me that question is the one that matters when moving forward. That is what we achieved without having a high percentage of goals scored by a striker. Imagine what we could do if we had one of them as well... We would have goal scoring threats all over the pitch.... Lewandowski would be a great signing, and so would cavani, but I don't see how they would be better signings than Falcao. Also there is no way dortmund would see lewy to us for less than 20 mil. I would be surprised if he went for less than 30 mil. Unless he has a low buyout clause I am unaware of.

Yeah but now you are talking about chelsea gambling on a player who we believe will be good. Which is something we very rarely do. Michu cost just 2 mil, hernandex was very cheap as well etc the list goes on and you never see us going in for the young unproven player on a gamble so we go for proven youngsters who have already been bought for cheap and proven themselves meaning their original 10 mil transfer has just rocketed up. Michu would probably cost 15 mil now, 7.5 times what they paid for him.

Demba ba is great but i wouldn't call him formidable.. Any proven player we buy will cost us more than they are worth because we are chelsea. Which is the annoying fact of the matter. Cavani will cost a lot more, aguero would cost us a lot more. etc. It doesn't have to be a massive name, but we are always forced to pay more.

Not many... But the better question is how many formidable strikers would we get for much less than 50 mil and the answer is exactly the same... Not many.

This is part reason why lampy and cole should be offered new contracts. Cole is just 32 and still has a few years in him, with priceless experience, and we all know what lamps can give us and is still fit. I would give cole a 2 year deal, then a recurring 1 year deal based on performance and give lampy a 1 year recurring contract like scholes and giggs. Talent and youth is all well and good but we need a bit of experience and chelsea legends, even if it is for more motivational and team based reasons than them being pure quality (which lampy will always be).

How much would they all cost though... RVP cost half of what falcao would cost, but he is 2 and a half years older and would have cost a lot more if we bought him as arsenal would not have let us have him for as cheap... Cavani, we would be lucky to get him for less than 45 mil. Ibra, exactly the same, so there is no way any of them would be any cheaper than falcao, and there is no debating they are all quality strikers. I would have falcao over all them 3 but its not like i wouldn't have cavani or be excited if we were being linked to him.

I guarentee that if city bought him it will be the biggest regret we will have. No matter who we sign instead probably wounldnt come close. Also, back on the money front. I can't name you 2 better finishers than falcao... Messi is one for sure, i think that is clear... Ronaldo... Not an out and out striker but still a great finisher, its close but those could be the only 2. Cavani, lewandowski, rvp, dzecko are all great finishers, but i don't think better than falcao. Neymar???? One day maybe, but not yet. They are the sort of names he is mizing with so 48 mil is hardly excessive...

Come on though, everyone was being optimistic linking torres lack of form due to him being unhappy... Must have heard "form is temporary class is permenant" about 1000 times. But it never happenned. Falcao is currently achieveing form torres never achieved even when he was at his best. Every player can flop but the signs are great. Mata, one of the best in the league, hazard, moses, oscar, lampards passing, ramires running in support etc, and his finishing, ability in the air all looks like a positive sign.

Exactly, obviously the board think we can afford it meaning i don't see what the problem is and we as pure fans don't know the exact situation but if they want to buy him then we are not the ones to say we can't... For me you can either want to sign falcao because he is quality, or don't want us to sign him because you think he is not good enough or worth the money. Saying we shouldn't because of FFP doesn't make sense as i am sure roman has a team as big as our first team sorting that out and making it clear how much money we have to spend... Also apparently TV rights are going to be going up soon so that should go a long way towards it if we can get top 4 this season.

Exactly, perfect example was in the pre match vs leeds. Majority were saying 1-0 here, 2-1, will be close, i think we will lose. Now these views are fair enough because we cannot say we are firing on all cyclinders but its leeds ffs, we should be smashing them 5-1. Home vs villa we should be ploughing through and moving on.
