  1. I would have almost anyone that helps us achieve our goals for the season Almost....key word I know everyone will list all sorts of players they would never want and I am right there with you for most....but I would even take some ****s if it meant our success
  2. Sadly, it is what many London Chelsea fans do too.
  3. I am in the States doing work so I am using their map of the world I can't find Mongolia on it
  4. I am finishing up work tonight and a friend brought up the glory-hunter subject so I found this thread and wanted to contribute. I see threads like this pop up a good bit lately across the internet and am always curious to hear what other people have to say. My own personal opinion is that I have not the slightest clue how someone can just wake up one day and pronounce...."I am going to root for Team A" and yet live thousands of miles away and have NEVER even been to the city where they are located. How do you understand a team without being in their home park with tens of thousands others? How do you understand the heated rivalries without seeing it firsthand? That is not me saying that those that can't go for whatever reasons now are less fans but I am just speaking of those that have never even been to England and lives thousands of miles away with no intention of ever going to a match. I am over-seas now and see it firsthand. People see Chelsea on TV and decide they want to root for them so they get some kits and become a fan. More power to you and I welcome all. But, I also see how really disconnected they are from the team when the bad times come. The term glory hunter has become much more known on the internet the last few years and thus people have come up with all sorts of reasons why they aren't but I think it is obvious who they are and what they really are rooting for....and IMO it isn't Chelsea but the coolness of being attached to a winning, financial team. While the support is great now, come rough times...I suspect we will see a drop-off. And that isn't me mocking just our fans....if United suffers a bad season ahead, expect to see their fans jump in numbers....and the same goes with the other Big 4 teams. It happens. We all have them.
  5. We could use all the money we can get. If it means more recognition, more sales, etc....I am for it as long as it doesn't cost TOO much and gives us some sort of advantage As I said in another thread, I am fine with or without him though I think he has aged a good bit more than some here believe....in terms of steps and accuracy.
  6. More power to him if he works his butt off to make a contribution Some would sulk and sit....if he chooses to push hard and ends up doing something for us....I have that much more respect for him even though a lot was lost in last year's farce of a season for him. I suspect we will end up selling him for something sooner than later
  7. I could always impress the ladies with a small I just prefer a L or XL
  8. Yea, good luck banning clubs who spend too much I am sure that will really grow interest....have the best teams/players sitting out European matches That will solve it all
  9. I doubt this story will be much of anything once everything becomes 100% official and he stays
  10. Because we are looking at it? Gets hits?
  11. Right....which is what I was just about to state Am I disappointed that we didn't sign a certain few people? Absolutely But good grief people, we have one of the best teams in the Premier League this season and one that is NOT going to just go away come 2010-2011 either. Now, past that and I agree that our youth + signings will have to kick in but before that? I am VERY happy. Every year brings new changes....all we heard last year in the media was how United had a team that couldn't be beat for years and years....lose Tevez/Ronaldo and now it seems a lot are jumping off the bandwagon and many of their future stars aren't all the sudden stars without the great Ronaldo. I will take our current position over MANY other teams
  12. My only worry about this was my only worry before last year and before the year of that. I hope that DD continues to stay in as good shape this season as he was towards the middle-end of last season. When in shape, the man can produce at levels that will get us a title. When he isn't, I think we all suffer a bit offensively.
  13. I voted that it was time for him to move on but the more i think about it, the more I would rather him get a few games. If anything, it would possibly help his stock rise enough to where we could get something respectable for him.
  14. Let City spend all the money they want. They are not going to duplicate the success we had the years following RA's takeover here. Hughes will be fired before this upcoming season ends.
  15. Very well put My thoughts exactly
  16. I wouldn't put too much stock in their first friendly. It rarely means anything especially a team so different from their previous season My expectations for them is a 2nd place league finish, Quarter loss in CL
  17. That sounds reasonable. I left a lot lacking in my past comment...I meant taking a starters position from the beginning to end of a game.
  18. There is no comparison between our situation and City's with SWP because they weren't even close to being in a position of a title front-runner like us and that is the whole point of what I am saying. If Terry leaves, we suddenly have a big question mark that POSSIBLY could be dealt with but who wants to take that chance given how close we are? We give the man a raise and he stays and that situation is solved. As painful as it may be to us, it stops a bad situation from getting worse for this season. As for Drogba, Lampard, and Essien....if they are performing top level and we win this season, we should expect situations just like that to occur (maybe not those 3 exactly but players in general). It happens in football today. Money rules the world it seems. We will have to decide just whether the players are worth it or not. In terms of how CLOSE we are to being dominate + Terry's importance....giving the man the raise he wants is well worth it. Maybe come next season certain players getting raises from other teams will not be as important to our immediate future.
  19. Hell no Pay what he wants and move on. Our window with some of our current players is closing.....we are a MUCH better team with Terry. Let's suck up our pride and pay the man and move on because as a team, we will be MUCH better off with him than without him
  20. I am looking for a nice white Chelsea polo Any help on specific sites?
  21. I do not want him but I wouldn't be angry or whatnot if we did sign him He has lost a considerable amount of steps and would only be used strictly for spots deep on the field. I am not sure how someone could want him using up a starters role for us
  22. Yea, I mean....come on Who thought that was actually real?
  23. I do not fault the man for wanting a raise. Everyone here that works would (at least I think) do what needs to be done to get a raise. But, I think we all would try to do it in a respectful way if we had worked for the same company for many years. I try not too hard to get on Terry because maybe we don't know the entire story about when City actually approached him, etc..... If he officially has turned them down now and we move on....I am happy on the whole I suspect a good bit of the "He is leaving" articles were just over-exaggerations anyway
