Lampard. People laugh at me when I say it, but honestly, can anyone name 1 single player in world football who possesses more qualities than him? (if they can, i genuinely want to hear it. this isn't a rhetorical question or anything!)
-
Absolutely every time we win, some stupid pundit or commentator has to blurt out - "This was a flattering scoreline for the Blues" or something like that. honestly just be quiet, especially when you're just a TV presenter who knows nothing about football.
-
Yep, need to be more direct. I'd bring on Hazard for Mata giving Mata some bloody rest for once. Also, why Lampard has never played as a striker baffles me (seriously). Even just for a game or 2. Finally, very surprised to see Roman smiling there.
-
So yeah. Getting rid of Torres and getting Falcao will fix everything, won't it?
-
We're actually doing the wrong thing this game completely which we should be doing in our bigger games. We're pressing and generally playing far too high and patiently meaning Brentford can just sit deep and not get his on a counter-attack (like they'll likely do to us.) We have to let them attack us as the weaker team leaving 3/4 players back instead of 8/9, with Moses running down on the counter and crossing to Ba.
-
But that's my problem. Where do you get that from? He's barely played 90 minutes of first team football in his career. What does he offer aside from the flair? I don't care what he could offer Malaga in a slower paced league where you get forever on the ball, but what would he offer CHELSEA? He's clearly not prolific as seen by the fact he failed to score today when he really should have and the fact he's barely, if at all, broken double figures at youth level. He doesn't have a great deal of pace, he has flair...(which does what exactly?), passing ability I'd expect from all of our youth midfielders and above average vision. I don't see how that's the potential to become a star.

Well without him we wouldn't have won the CL final (got the winning corner). Ensured we went through vs. Barcelona with that final goal. Has created and scored loads this season. It's nothing to do with fees. He doesn't control how much he cost the club, and neither do any of the fans. Torres and Piazon should both be treated equally as if they were both free, with any adversity caused by transfer fees aimed at the board who actually paid the fee; not the player. Piazon hasn't progressed in my mind, really. He was ready for first time football when we bought him and was on the brink of making the full Sao Paulo team but once again with youth, we just put him into our lower ranks to bide his time. It should also be noted that while sure, it could be considered an achievement to start for one of the best teams (of the season, and that's all) once in La Liga, that it's probably down to the fact Pellegrini is juggling formations etc. and using him as a stop-gap until the next big game or Champions League fixture. I've already stated I haven't mocked him once. I've mocked the mindset that he's magically good enough after showing very little throughout his career (thus far) to suggest he's 'the next big thing' or good enough for the current European Champions. Fact is, it shocked most people that he started today. That should say a lot really.
-
I'm discussing Lucas Piazon. This is the Lucas Piazon topic. Other people seem to be discussing in-game moments though which surely should be in the La Liga section in "Football Banter", no?
-
I guess I'll post it then. Surprised no-one's jizzed or even noticed the fact he's made the 2nd-most tackles in his team.
-
People can criticize Torres for being shit (check his goals/assists stats for this season though, eh?) but the moment I even hint that a different player is nowhere near good enough (which he's not. suck my big hairy toe) people get butt-hurt? Double standards? Or...
-
He got an assist, which I stated. I mocked (if you could even call it that, but I wouldn't) Athletic Bilbao if anything for being crap this season. Then added the final comment before the inevitable (not so much now) comments about him being our future by delusional people who think football is such a simple thing where flair and being Brazilian means you're the next big thing. The final comment on my original post could be considered sarcasm aimed at fans, not mocking of Piazon. Now if we're to take sarcasm away from the world, won't it be a bit of a dull place?
-
I did nothing of the sort in regards to mocking him. No one's posting updates anyway aside from "ASSIST!!!!!".
-
I don't understand how anyone could take offence from my posts above unless of course there's some truth to them. I didn't criticize him at all. The fact is so many people, despite not admitting it, take half their opinions on a player from the media, Youtube videos or websites like WhoScored.com. Unless it applies to you, no one should be taking offence.
-
Because I like Malaga.
-
HIS CURRENT RATING ON WHOSCORED.COM IS 6.7!!! I REALLY THINK HE COULD BE THE NEXT MESSI BUT FROM BRAZIL!
-
Yep. That settles it. An assist vs. a team which has been utter shite this season and just 6 points above relegation. Next Kaka for sure!!!
-
Just checked some real-time stats. Piazon has touched the ball the least (2) amount of times compared with any other player on the pitch.

We didn't damage football ffs lol. Prices for players were always going to go up, weren't they? If anything we saved football, especially in England. Tell me, how many teams were competing for the Premier League title before Roman came along? How many English teams were a threat in the Champions League? Which team made the game in general up their safety etc. and get ambulances in place around the stadiums just incase something happened? (It could be argued that Muamba would be dead right now if not for us.) Which team set the blueprint for teams like PSG (who have now made Ligue 1 actually exciting) or Manchester City who've now also upped the excitement of football in the Premier League? If the argument for us damaging football is 'we made the prices of players go up', err, no, we didn't. The clubs who sell off those players choose to sell said players at high prices because everything increases in time, especially in the recession. Players had gone for way bigger fees than the ones we paid before we were a top club. I think saying we damaged football is just going along with the popular, deluded and ignorant opinion which has been adopted by many of our opposition's fans due to the media needing a scapegoat which has been us for a decade.

Balotelli tonight got his 3rd MOTM award in a row. He's only even played 3 games for Milan so far I believe. 4 goals. Looks like he's finally found a home.
-
Maybe we loaned Piazon to Malaga to entice them into selling Isco to us, so that he'd fit into the team with Pellegrini's eventual arrival, hm?
-
Pellegrini has been in management for what, 3 decades? He turned Villarreal (remember them?) into pretenders, so much so that casual fans were like "WHAT THE FUCK?!" when they eventually got relegated. They never should have been as good as he made them. Oh and look at Malaga. How are they doing in the CL this season? A bit better than us, I must say. He uses a 4-2-3-1 formation really well and has implemented 4-4-2's into his teams too which I've loved watching. However, with that said, all his managerial tenures have been in typically hot climates which somehow seems to coincide with a slower tempo than the PL. I believe he's great though. I truly do. He just really does understand the game like few current managers seem to show.

Ronaldo's jump alone proved to me personally that he's the greatest athlete to ever play football. Not greatest footballer; greatest athlete to play football. Key.
-
MOYES. JOSE. PELLEGRINI. ANY OF THOSE 3 AND I WILL JIZZ. I personally feel though that Manchester City would be best for Moyes. I genuinely could see him creating a proper legacy there which would (unfortunately) elevate Manchester City quite a bit higher than us in terms of 'big clubs' within a decade.
-
Well that was unexpected.
-
Well this has been embarrassing.
