I see Alisson's best years behind him; yes, a bit soon for a goalie, but that's what I see (I see him a lot for Brazil). So, them getting a promising goalie as well as a quality CB is worrying given the strength of their squad. They still need a mid tho. Reports from Brazil state that Brentford is signing gremio's 18yo winger Gustavo Nunes for somewhere in the 20m. He looks like a really interesting player, but one who needs yo take a step like Brentford before moving to a big club IMO.

I still can't understand Jackson at all. The good: in his ruled out goal, he was in a great position considering where the shot was coming from and City's D was slightly asleep letting him be. He comfortably gets to the ball after the rebound and applies a good finish. The ugly: he's fucking OFFSIDE during the entirety of the play! It's not like the D moved at the right time which caused him to be offside; their D never moved and Jackson just lazily stayed offside the whole time. WTF?! I can imagine Maresca wasn't too happy with that (as well as the weird second finish) given he replaced him with a 18yo who hardly touched the ball in 30min of play.

I wonder if having a squad this deep does not make it easier to push players out; I mean to avoid litigation, for ex. You can keep a group of players training separately simply for reasons of space in the facilities. Maybe I'm just looking for a silver lining. 🙂

Yeah I’m not a huge fan of Caicedos game in general, so I usually need a bit more from him. He was doing better by the end of last season tho. honestly I’d rather see Lavia and Enzo there. Always go with the more skillful players until balance stops you heh.
-
CBs were decent. Fofa a was a bit all over the place and was ball watching in the first. gusto had a poor game as did caicedo—need a bit more than huffs and puffs at this level. Cole should get used to the new normal: he’s a known star and tight marking will be always ther. honestly Cuccu and Lavia were the only outstanding performers for me. and yes, frustrating to see Sanchez in goal once again.

Should Enzo have been taken off? I prob wouldn’t have done that given the best passes esp long balls were from him. Would have him moved deeper instead. Cole was well marked, often double marked, so could have tried moving him to AM and moved Enzo deeper. Enzo is one of the best CMs in the word which is the reason we paid so much for him; he should be used as such.

Way too comfortable a win for city to take many positives from this match.
-
Are you saying it’s going to be long season then? 😅
-
Is Marc Guiu on the pitch? Should’ve kelp Jackson regardless how frustrating and lazy he was… not a game for a green 18yo.
-
Difference between kova and Caicedo on display there. Lol
-
Bench options are amazing compared to last season.
-
Remember Lavia did not play last season due to injury.
-
lol phone

Caicedo has had a decent game so far nothing special. Lávia much better for me. Reminder of how good a player Kova is; had a great game so far.
-
Gotta shoot more after what we saw from Ederson.
-
Injuries take a toll esp bad ones which demand a long ass recovery time.
-
The position where Enzo plays IS the most difficult position to play because it’s in contested areas of the pitch. It’s much easier to have a touch and pass much deeper with a lot more time on the ball.
-
Is he tho? Caícedo does not have to always play; he can be taken off or moved into a more defensive position. hard to do that against a team like city, but I can certainly see this being done against weaker opposition (most other teams at home) or when chasing a goal. yoi don’t always need a pure destructor like caicedo on the pitch.
-
Midfield did well for me. Other areas not so much.
-
Lávia is a good passer of the ball. He’s better than caicedo in that regard, so that’s good to see as he makes a better partner than Conor did.
-
Ridiculous from Jackson. Move your fucking lazy ass!

I don't think that has ever been said about him. He lacks certain attributes, which is the reason he's not hot commodity, but he's certainly not a "shit player." He's twice the player Mudryk is for one, which is one of the reasons I was saying the squad wasn't good enough last season. Once you have players like Felix in the squad, that raises the bar--even if I'm not personally a fan of his firefly game.

yup. There was a time we bought them ready to play and win silverware. Nowadays we buy "projects" for the same amount (or more) of money, and have to wait a few years until they learn to play football, or not, it's a wild ride... NOT! Tbf is has been a bit better than last season, and the team is better overall. Duran would've been just another project. He looks physical, quick, energetic, and can finish. Is he an elite footballer? nope not even close. Can he become one one day? maybe who the fuck knows?! BTW, he missed a terrible sitter just before he scored.

Didn’t Pep say same about Potter? Potter and Maresca employ completely different styles too. Seems like Pep tends to protect the class that’s all.

Good match! Glad real football is back.
