  1. They should just rename Europa League the 'Unai Emery Cup'. Has won it/UEFA Cup 4 times, more than anyone else.
  2. But it's not as if Inter have to sell everyone and their entire squad have to be broken up, are they? There will still be good players around. I gave the other clubs as examples of how one can still be competitive without necessarily having star players or being able to spend big every time. The difference between those clubs and Inter is that Inter will still have quality players around, even after potentially selling maybe 1 and they have a coach like Conte to make up that gap. In fact, one could argue that he has been the main difference between Inter winning the league and not winning the league. Also, let's not forget that Conte has partly contributed to the financial situation that Inter find themselves in. Instead of maybe looking at younger, better options, he wanted players like Young, Kolarov, Vidal etc and the club were "forced" to have them on big wages and they now have to get rid of them. Although he found a role for him in the end, Conte wanted Eriksen and got him but then almost binned him in January before making a sudden U-turn. Things like this is why I said Conte is stubborn and not being able to compromise. Inter fulfilled a lot of his demands during his two-year reign - e.g. getting Godin, Lukaku, Young, Eriksen, Sensi, Barella, Sanchez, Moses, Vidal, Kolarov, Hakimi, Darmian - but when they are in trouble, he is not willing to return the favor and compromise a little. If Conte is just gonna throw a tantrum or leave the second he disagrees with the club over players etc (it has happened 3 times now), then really, who is gonna appoint him? At this point, it really feels like he's not different to Mourinho apart from being able to perhaps still guarantee short term success. Given Conte's poor overall record in the Champions League, I'd say it's more down to his inflexible tactics than anything else. Remember his "You cannot go to eat at a €100 restaurant with just €10 euro in your pocket" quote? Allegri made Conte look like a fool by taking Juventus to the Champions League final the season after he left Juventus.
  3. Yes but we don't know for sure if Inter will sell any of those four players you mentioned when they have a number of deadwoods or old players on big wages on their books like Vidal, Kolarov, Young etc. They will likely get rid of them first before potentially going to the big ones, which they might need to sell only one if they get big money for that player. The frustrating thing with Conte is that we know he is a great coach and great at improving players but he is also stubborn as hell and seems to think success is not possible without spending big money on big players or sometimes, old players. No manager will always get what they want all the time. Some times, one has to find ways to compromise, be smarter with transfers, focus on coaching and getting more out of players. We have seen how teams can be competitive at the top end of the league - e.g. Atalanta, Milan (this season), Leicester, Spurs under Pochettino - through great coaching, through intelligent spending/scouting on players etc. Considering that and his management style, hard to see where Conte will go next and which club will be willing to bend to his demands every single time, especially when clubs are still feeling the effects of the pandemic.
  4. He has already left. I find it hard to believe Conte will go to Spurs when he just left Inter because of their precarious financial situation and Spurs are in a very similar situation. It's clear that Conte wants money, a lot of money, to spend on players. He won't get that at this time at Spurs. So god knows where he'll turn up next.
  5. Inter did manage to find an investment from somewhere - https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/soccer-italys-inter-milan-secures-financing-deal-with-oaktree-funds-sources-2021-05-20/. But they still have to cut costs and Conte, in classic Conte fashion, wasn't having it.
  6. Wonder if Mourinho regrets taking the Roma job now. Could have replaced Conte back at Inter! This is really typical BS, deja vu with Conte isn't it? Great coach but is stubborn as hell and unable to compromise. That's 3 jobs now he has left/has been sacked because of disagreement with the club over players. At this point, Conte is really a clone of Mourinho. Only difference is, Conte is not a washed up manager...yet.
  7. Kante and Mendy trained today. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/05/26/next-stop--champions-league-final
  8. Am sure the irony of re-signing a striker that we sold at a young age will not be lost on Abraham. While Inter are trying to cut costs, am not sure how much they are willing to part ways with their biggest prized asset in Lukaku, unless he pushes to leave. Otherwise, not sure he would leave considering he's adored by the Inter fans and isn't battered by the Italian media compared to the English media in England. But with their other players...might be worth testing the water.
  9. So much for thinking Conte won't leave Inter, eh @OneMoSalah?
  10. This was 2 days ago and if I didn't recognize the players wrongly, both Mendy and Kante were out with the rest of the team...
  11. But those clubs that Conte walked into were also willing to spend, at least a little, and the board were willing to work him on transfers (okay, maybe not here). Unless Spurs sell Kane for 100m+, they won't have much money, if any, to spend at all. Is Conte then willing to go there if he can't spend much at all? He's already going to walk away from Inter because they have to cut costs. On top of that, is Conte willing to settle for only fighting for Top 4? He has looked only pumped up when a club are able to fight for the league title but not as much when they aren't.
  12. If Conte can't find a way to compromise, then good luck to him finding a club that will forever bend to his will and demands because he's never going to get the City job and no other club will just spend money willy nilly for the manager.
  13. It's not about having ambition or not. It's about making compromises, especially at times like this, and focus on what he's actually good at - coaching. Do you think someone like Sir Alex Ferguson got what he wanted every year at Man United? No but that didn't stop him from finding ways to work around tricky situations and be successful. Unless Conte is at Man City, no club is gonna just bow down to the manager and just spend like no one's business for the manager. It should also be noted that Inter have also bent a lot for Conte since he got there. Is it hard for him to just maybe compromise a little?
  14. Fixed. Judging by some of the results without Mount, one could also argue that we can perform well and win games without him. We have not reached the point (hopefully not ever) where we become useless without Mount on the pitch.
  15. Yes, every coach would want money to spend and keep their players but at the same time and the annoying thing with Conte is, he has shown that he is a good coach. He can coach and improve players when he puts his mind into it. We saw it at Juventus. We saw it here. We have seen it at Inter. Instead, the second he doesn't get what he fully wants, he'll start to throw tantrums etc. Regarding Lukaku, I'm not sure if Inter will just sell arguably their biggest asset this summer, financial trouble or not. There are already rumors they are looking to get rid of the likes of Young, Kolarov etc.
  16. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/05/25/azpilicueta-red-card-overturned Azpi's red card has been overturned. So, he'll not be banned for the first 3 games of next season.
  17. The hilarity of it aside, it also highlights the incompetence of Arteta, Edu and whoever else that makes the transfer decisions at Arsenal. They bought Luiz two seasons ago and he's already left the club without getting them anywhere while the same thing could potentially happen with Willian (assuming that Sky story is true but don't think it is). Both over 30 and were/are on huge wages too.
  18. For those suggesting Camavinga previously...
  19. Just making a general point and this isn't aimed at you but if you criticize Mount for anything on places like Twitter, a big bunch of mobsters will jump on you. lol
  20. Beyond the money, there's also the question how much involvement would Ronaldo want? If he wants to be a starter, then it's not going to happen. If he's okay with being a rotational option, then I'm not completely against the idea. Having said all that, would Ronaldo even fancy coming here? That might have to be the route we take for the short term until something better turns up, like next summer when Haaland's release clause activates.
  21. I don't think Tuchel trusts CHO to bring the right mentality in every game. It's 3 managers now that seem to have doubts over CHO.
