Just because he said he would extend his contract and you immediately believed him? Costa may be a fiery character but he isn't stupid. He knows what to say and how to use the media to his advantage. Not once we heard in January (or around the period) that he wanted to extend his contract. Media outlets reported the interest from China in January and it was everywhere and hell, I recall that the club president (Tianjin Quanjian, was it?) even came out and made a couple of comments about signing Costa but in the end, it didn't happen because we were in the chase for the title and the Chinese government put restrictions on the CSL clubs.

Considering we already lack options for that game before today, I'm not sure how you can say he's not a huge loss. And even if we have options and he has his flaws, he's always still a decent option to have. One moment of brilliance from him can change the game in our favor.

At this point, we should probably be happy with someone like Drinkwater because we'll be very lucky if we get top class players before Aug 31.

We weren't like super bad or anything but we certainly weren't 100% there. The manner in which we allowed Burnley to score highlights that and Conte himself alluded to it as well. We certainly didn't play or react well, when we should have, after going down to 10 men.

Even including our injured players Hazard, Bakayoko and Pedro, our options are still thin compared to theirs.

City have managed to bring Sane, Sterling and Silva on today while we managed to bring...never mind.

Watching the Brighton v City game and it's depressing. City have so many options to choose from while we have to pick from whatever scraps we could muster. *sigh*
