  1. Just like Costa, we definitely did well to sell him at the right time and get decent money from the sale.
  2. The Europa League final usually takes place before the league season ends, at least from a Premier League perspective, but that's not the case this season. In the case of the Champions League final, it'll be worse if at least one of the English sides reach it because there will be a 3-week break between the last league game and the final. Other leagues finish a week or two later than the Premier League. EDIT - Final day of each top 5 league + the cup finals... May 12 - Premier League May 19 - La Liga/Bundesliga May 26 - Serie A/Ligue 1 May 29 - Europa League Final June 2 - Champions League Final
  3. The timing is questionable but it's a charity match for a good cause. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/03/04/new-england-revolution-and-chelsea-announce-15-may-for--final-wh And no, Pulisic is highly unlikely to join along as Dortmund's season isn't over by then.
  4. Of course! You got a problem with that?
  5. It's typical, isn't it? When United had that good run, it's all because how great Solskjaer is bla bla bla. Now they're having this bad run and Solskjaer gets absolved of the blame, it's all the players' fault and even he is openly calling out the players. What's the difference really between him and Mourinho?
  6. Our board are bad but it takes some doing for United to "outshine" them. They said they will take their time and think thoroughly before hiring their next permanent manager at the end of the season but succumbed to pressure from the fans, media etc and hired Solskjaer. Situation so similar to Di Matteo back in 2012. And if this is true, then it's really from Woodward... If United don't finish in the top 4, then I find it hard to see why would players want to go there when (a) there are more attractive options in the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, (b) supposedly their best player in Pogba wants to leave and (c) Solskjaer's selling point is basically trying to do what Ferguson did. Not even a fan of them and his rhetoric has bored me to death.
  7. The funny thing now is, Solskjaer is saying the same things that Mourinho used to say when he was in charge. But one got hammered from all directions for it while the other is getting praised to the heavens. Also, I might be proven wrong in the future but right now, Solskjaer doesn't seem to be a man of his own, a manager with his own ideas etc. He just wants to replicate Ferguson, from the things he used to do to the things he used to say.
  8. Arsenal are dropping points on Wednesday But will we win all 4 games?
  9. Palace winning 3-1 at Arsenal...
  10. The point is, those managers won trophies and didn't get the benefit of the doubt, didn't buy them any time (and didn't get much backing in the transfer window!) and still got the sack anyway.
  11. It's funny and all watching Everton thrash United...until you remember Sarriball will lead us to another away debacle at Old Trafford next weekend...
  12. So was Courtois at Atletico...
  13. Will still be better than Higuain regardless.
  14. Inclined to agree but we're talking about a board who sacked a manager for finishing 2nd and a season after winning the double, another months after winning the Champions League and FA Cup, another months after winning the Premier League and League Cup and another after winning the FA Cup. Some of those decisions were right but if the board could do that to managers after winning trophies, to more successful managers, why would they give leeway to someone like Sarri when we have had so many embarrassing results/performances under him and there have been two strong protests from the fans recently? And not to mention, Sarri was reportedly near to getting the sack a couple of times within the last two months.
  15. Pretty sure we have gone through this argument before and we didn't agree before and we certainly won't agree now. So, agree to disagree and stop quoting me, Ryan!
  16. It was slow but there was progression. He started improving Liverpool from the front before going backwards.
  17. Even if we win the Europa League and/or finish in the Top 4, it doesn't take away the fact that Sarri hasn't done greatly this season.
  18. No, I didn't expect the season to be smooth sailing but I don't think there is anything wrong with expecting some form of progression or improvement under Sarri. With Pep, with Klopp in their first season, you could see what they were trying to do, you could see they were willing to adapt, make tactical tweaks etc but with Sarri, it's been very messy and it's hard to say that 'yes, things will get better' with all the BS-ness he's pulled off this season. And this is what I keep coming back to when people say Sarri should stay on for a second season. People either counter opposing arguments or in this case, use examples of other managers to justify sticking with Sarri. WHAT ABOUT WHAT HE'S DONE THIS SEASON? What has Sarri done this season to deserve a second season, especially after countless of embarrassments in 2019 alone?!
  19. Great job in generalizing Conte's overall approach based on one criticism on a particular match... The point is finding a middle ground, a good balance between being defensive and offensive. Conte, for that City game at least, took it to the extreme on the defensive side of things while Sarri, more often than not, takes too much to the opposite side. That's why we're never solid defensively under Sarri and there's always a looseness about us, there's always a feeling that we will concede. And for the record, while I did criticize Conte's football at times last season, I was never overly dissatisfied with it as much as I am now. Conte's style was generally fine and he was doing fine up until he decided to embark on his moan-fest and make everything terrible. His style certainly wasn't the main reason people wanted Conte gone.
