Oh god. Can we stop with this False 9 nonsense? As @communicate mentioned, we only played False 9 in the past because Hazard wasn't the greatest at his defensive work and we needed players to cover the wide areas. While that made defensively sound in the past, it got us nowhere going forward. And right now, we need Lampard to choose a settled system and XI so that we can get consistent performances out of players. This constant chopping and changing, especially when you consider the type of our last 2 managers, isn't going to help us.

Absolutely but the problem is, he is Mourinho. Anything he says is gonna have journalists and pundits spin his words to suit their agenda.

Only difference between them and us is they have picked up results while we haven't. And not to forget, it was bloody Mourinho who started this stupid talk in the first place last week.

Man United play young players. OGS gets praised to the heavens. Chelsea play young players. Lampard gets criticized for not using experienced players.

I meant his tactical awareness from a defensive point of view. We knew from the start that attacking isn't his biggest strength.

True but on the other hand, since scoring is already a big issue for us, we should at least make sure we are defensively solid, so that we can get away with some narrow 1-0, 2-1 wins etc. But we aren't defending well and have to score at least 2-3 goals each game to win, which isn't ideal at all.

His legs have gone and that's the most important thing for a FB. I can only see him having a future at CB here. He has never relied on his pace. Bigger problem is his tactical awareness and positioning. These days, he's charging up the field and leaving gaps behind as well as playing people onside!
