If Lampard doesn't see Pulisic as first choice right now and Pedro is ahead of him, then I see no point to even risk the latter in a League Cup game.

If only we defend with the same intensity and commitment we put into our attack...

This is what Lampard said after today's game... It is certainly peculiar that he started 4 straight games last month - had 2 assists to boot - and suddenly hasn't played a single minute in the last 3 games. If he doesn't start or even play against Grimsby on Wednesday...

Defence doing enough to bail out the team. Otherwise, the midfield looks bloody disjointed and Kovacic & Jorginho are useless in defensive situations.

Most goals conceded by us since the 70's. Things won't change as long as Zonal marking is around. Our zonal marking defending is just as bad as our open play defending.

A poor man's Fabregas when it comes to long range passing. Could put him in an empty field to play a long pass and he would put it out of the stadium.

I know we are a team in transition and there's gonna be ups and downs this season but this novelty of playing the youth, praising a fighting performance from losing position etc is gonna lose its value if we continue to defend like clowns in set piece and open play situations. 16 goals conceded in 8 games is abysmal. Continue at that rate and we'll get nowhere.

It's not just the set piece defending, it's also the defending from open play. Hate to say he's right but Mourinho talked about being compact defensively in our opening game and that's what we aren't at the moment. We just don't look solid in general. Every opponent attack feels like it's gonna result in some sort of chance or some sort of panic/mistake in defence. Look at that first Liverpool goal today. It all came about because Kovacic/Jorginho pressed Mane in half-hearted manner and he went past them like they weren't even there. That's just one example. There have been so many times already this season where opponents just ghost past our midfield. Kante in there will help but he can't do it all alone. He can't do it all alone when there's no coherent effort in our pressing and the others are so flimsy and pathetic with their challenges!

Our defending is gonna be Lampard's undoing...

Marco Silva is gonna be the next to get sacked, isn't he? Don't care about him and Everton but just a slight shame that he hasn't done anything great overall in England to make Paul Merson eat his words.

If this had happened 2-3 years ago, nobody would say anything because Azpi's at his peak. But it's 2019 and when players are struggling, in decline etc, it just becomes fashionable to pick out every single thing to criticize them, even when the thing has nothing to do with how he plays etc.

He just liked just a scoreline post with 'Tag a friend you'll smash like this in FIFA 20' caption and there are people pissed over it? Guess people are just outraged over anything and everything these days...

Really shouldn't have let Valencia's goal in either tbh. The bounce did him in I think as he was going low to save it. Ball was hit into the ground and bounced over right in front of him. Had little time to readjust.

I don't think he got a strong enough hands onto that shot. Had he done so, he would have decisively saved. The header was straight at him.

One slight problem though - he's letting in shots that he should have saved. Norwich's and Wolves' recent second goals come to mind.
