There is apparently a 5 million difference in Werner's release clause, depending on whether RB Leipzig qualify for the Champions League but that is just a small amount. I assume or believe we are financially stable considering the club have not furloughed any staff, have been helping out charities, continue to pay the players' and staff's wages in full, looking to spend big out of nowhere despite the pandemic. And that is without even mentioning the money to be gained from potential summer sales.

Agree with all of that but my point is, I wouldn't mind having a similar but more experienced player around as an option. And like I said, expecting Gilmour to do everything well at only 19 years old is unfair on him. He will experience a patch of bad form and we will then need someone similar to come in for him, for example.

But on the flip side, announcing it early would give everyone clarity and a peace of mind, instead of continuing weeks of silly speculation. We did that with the Pulisic and Ziyech deals, for example. And the fans bit wouldn't even matter in this case since no fans are even allowed into stadiums.

If any midfielder needs to be sold, it should be Barkley first and foremost. Jorginho, despite some frustrating flaws in his game, is still decent enough to be kept around. As much as Gilmour has performed well in the last 2 games, I think it would be unfair on him, who turns only 19 years old very soon - to suddenly expect top class performances week in week out. He still has a lot to learn, improve and experience. Having someone like Jorginho to help with that etc would be beneficial.

Kante hasn't returned to first team training and Jorginho is suspended. So, think Gilmour will play.

The point there is the timing of the announcement. Both clubs and player would obviously have to sort everything out by June 15 but they don't have to announce it yet if they don't want to, although I don't see what's the point in that.

Think Roman put money in to cover for the loss? IIRC, it was mentioned in one of the recent The Athletic podcasts.

Doesn't matter the difference in league or teams. Point is, I don't think you have spoken many positives, if at all, about the signing of Werner (even though there have been articles pin-pointing his strengths - as well as weaknesses). It's all just the bad things about him with you. But with the likes of Boga, it's all positives, it's all just the good stuff, almost as if he's the best player out there.

You wouldn't be saying that had Abraham or Boga done what Werner did.
